Ответитьtwo videos in one day? IS IT CHRISTMAS?
ОтветитьI didn’t know that. Amazing.
ОтветитьGreat video! I had no idea about "Roosevelt's SS!"
ОтветитьLight Blue - Infantry
ОтветитьArmor - yellow
ОтветитьSoldiers who were awarded the combat infantryman's badge during World War II got a stipend, they got an extra $25 a month in their check.
ОтветитьI so enjoy your channel. 👍
ОтветитьThat is amazing! I didn't know about that. I live learning something new everytime I watch your videos, JD! Thanks again to you and Erik, sir
ОтветитьWhat the heck happened to the Lincoln video that just posted? I got half way through, came back to watch it and it was gone
ОтветитьPresidential Unit Citation was originally called the Distinguished Unit Citation. The 30th received the Presidential Unit Citation in 2020.
ОтветитьInteresting video. I served in the Army from 67-71. In almost all situations you were required to be "under cover" (wearing a hat) when outside. We had the helmet liner, the steel pot, the fatigue hat (sometimes replaced with a boonie hat), and a dress green billed hat (black bills in the Vietnam era not brown like WWII). When wearing short sleeve khakis (not a dress uniform but not fatigues) you would usually wear what you called an "overseas" hat. It was not called that in my army. If you held it in your hands and turned it a certain way, it looked like what we all called it. A Charlie Uniform November Tango cap. Convert the phonetics to letters and figure it out for yourselves. Ah..... the memories.
ОтветитьAnother informative video.
Erik is collecting so much he is going to need to expand again before he opens the new addition.
Again again JD, congratulations on being nominated as President Trumps Vice President.
Always learning something. Erik's WWII artifact knowledge doesn't disappoint 👍
ОтветитьOne of the most interesting videos you guys have ever done!
ОтветитьVery cool! Thanks
ОтветитьGreat info JD. I learned something new about my old division. Back in the 1970's I spent 6 years in the North Carolina National Guard. We were part of the 30th, Old Hickory Division. I never knew the backstory you shared here. Thanks for all the great material on historical events!!
ОтветитьVery cool! I didn’t know this story
ОтветитьCant wait for the museum addition, I have been down twice and am waiting to make a third trip once its opened , Thank you for all you do
Ответитьdad was a member of the 30th..got a couple of his shoulder patches
ОтветитьAwesome you got film that is fairly rare. Have only seen snippits of that reel. Great stuff again JD! And Eric and his stuff is priceless as always!
ОтветитьWOW! I didn't know about the FDR SS Interesting, thanx.
ОтветитьThat patch was a theater made patch. Was probably added after the war while still in Germany.
ОтветитьMy wife's uncle Charlie worked at Hyde Park n y for F D R as caretaker/ body guard I guess before he was president
The Hyde Park estay is an interesting place to visit
His name was Charlie Kron
Very cool!! 🇺🇸👍
ОтветитьGreat! Great story.
ОтветитьVery interesting. I never knew that. Thanks for the history lesson.
ОтветитьSo incredibly glad you did this video. My dad served in the 30th as a 1st Sergeant. He was the recipient of the bronze star and gave me many souvenirs from his combat days. He passed away 21 years ago, but he sure would have loved your video. THANK YOU ❤
ОтветитьExcellent video
ОтветитьThank you for teaching me something new
ОтветитьI initially subscribed for your Civil War content, but you make such great ww1 & 2 videos. I learn something new every video
ОтветитьCalling American trooos SS is not something I condone. Our troops were not NAZI's
ОтветитьReally enjoyed the video mate can't wait for the next one
ОтветитьI am disappointed. I was expecting a story on how FDR used a political bodyguard militia to suppress dissent and opponents to his regime.
ОтветитьThanks for this video! I was with the 30th during OIF 2009 . Did not know they were Rosevelts SS at the time .
ОтветитьSome soldiers would sew their "SS" on their patches or have someone else sew it for them. It looked crud but hey that's not the poin!?-Who cares they earned it! Good video. 120th forever!
ОтветитьReally cool story
