Mailbag: What Is the Chicago Bears Asking Price For Braxton Jones?

I dont know how anyone can see all we've seen of Brax and want him on the Bears.. including the Bears themselves. Its pro football, not fucking babysit sunday of a soft dumbass that cant figure shit out. He's bad. For God sake we've LITERALLY drafted two guys to replace him. Look around; he's a dead man walking.

I would look at how many pressures will Braxton Jones give up then sacks. Because Caleb Williams can out run a sack but how many pressure is he giving up for Williams to have to run out of the pocket to avoid that

Braxton Jones was a 5th rd pick who is often injured and misses games, gets a ton of penalties and can't anchor. Bears would be lucky to get a 5th rd pick for him. that's how the NFL works.

But what people don't realize when Caleb Williams went to the Chicago Bears on a pre draft visit. He said I'm going to the Chicago Bears and I can do this. People seems to forget about that 🐻🐻🎈

Who is their LT? Taylor Decker. Right? Is he a stud? Not really. He is the WEAK link on that line. Braxton Jones had a better season than TD. His PFF overall rating was higher. His pass blocking was significantly higher than Taylor’s. BJ had a 80 pass blocking rating.

If you don’t like PFF, just look at the regular stats like penalties and sacks surrendered. Taylor Decker gave up 8 sacks and four penalties. That’s not very good for a LT.

Braxton Jones gave up 7 penalties and five sacks. Factor in that BJ was blocking for Caleb who hangs onto the ball for a long time.

Do you think that TD would have better or worse stats blocking for Caleb last year. Do you think BJ would have better stats on the Lions?

TD would do worse on the Bears and BJ would have done better on the Lions. No question.

Look at other “good” offensive lines. All of them have at least one weak link. I wouldn’t even consider either of these guys as weak links, but I’d take BJ over TD any day of the week based on LAST YEAR.

Sorry. Stop trying to replace BJ. The rookie and Koran will get absolutely abused this year. Most rookies, even the good ones, usually score in the 50s for PFF grades.

Let BJ play out his contract and then decide what to do with him.

Those two young LTs might be as good as BJ. I doubt that they’ll be better down the road, but I can assure you that he’ll have a better season than either of those two this year. It’s rare for LTs to do well. BJ did unusually well as a rookie. Go look at the last four or five drafts. A few LTs out performed BJ. BJ outperformed almost everyone that was drafted earlier than he was over the last few years. Stop trying to replace him. You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Stats aren’t everything, but they generally are pretty accurate indicators of performance in sports. Sorry.

Braxton Jones has not been trash with us. He's just difficult to keep and pay Left Tackle Money... Any compensation for him is welcome... Bears got one of the steals in the draft in the 7th Round in terms of Kyle Monongai as a prospect...

Braxton has been solid but hes pretty much run outta runway in Chicago. This is one time it hurts not having that 5th year option cuz hes the perfect candidate.

Im telling ya, folks are focused on Trapilo but its Kiran who has the inside track to replacing Braxton. A full off-season with Roushar plus hes the one with the dream measurables could end up being the ultimate upgrade IF he develops.

I’d rather keep Jones while they see which one of the players (Kiran or Ozzy) can play best at LT. What happens WHEN there are injuries again?…I have seen this over and over. The Bears can’t seem to judge talent and never prioritize depth and quality on the Oline. In a “win-now” year, you don’t trade the only known player for future picks. Even if he gets injured too much and you don’t want to keep him. It’s not worth the risk to put unknown younger players out there too quickly without a safety net (see Borom/Kiran last year) Knowing there is a veteran to back them up is a cushion and it pushes them and it’s safer for the fans who have to watch. We have a QB who HAS to figure it out this year or we go thru this same exact cycle over again for another year! Not worth a trade.

He’s never had a stable coaching staff that was there to teach him what he needs to do about the bull rush other teams would grab him in a heartbeat a second and third round would be appropriate for a tackle get those draft Picks

Look, Edmonds was not good enough for buffalo to keep him and he was an outside linebacker then he’s definitely not a middle linebacker I think Hippolite would be a much better middle linebacker because of his speed and downhill play and move Edmonds out to the strong side where his talents are better suited

I don’t blame Caleb for not wanting to come to the Bears under mat Eberflus. He was looking at the coach in Minnesota as someone that could develop his talent and I don’t blame him on that thought but now that we got Ben Johnson, a quarterback whisperer I think we will see an improvement in Caleb’s play and I was already impressed with the kid last year. That game against Green Bay proved to me that he is an all-time talent and knows how to win ball games let me know your guys thoughts on this.

Luther Burton needs to get his body into NFL shape getting a soft tissue injury catching a ball in OTA’s when there’s no contact and no pads on shows me he’s not ready for the NFL. I think Loveland will have a better season at slot receiver than Burden. Anybody that cries about his number is selfish to me and we don’t need selfish players on the Bears earned that number be glad you got a number prove that you want to have a number. Rome is a perfect example of a good rookie coming into a situation of unknowns he kept his mouth shot, did his job and let his play do the talking for him. He needs to strengthen his arms and his hands because he dropped too many balls by letting them come into his body rather than catching him with his hands.Burton can learn something from Rome do your job and let that do the talking for you

Roshan Johnson needs to run with his head up and strengthen his upper body shoulders and neck to prevent concussion problem. He needs to watch a little film of Walter Payton. Peyton always ran with his head up and his upper body strength with destroyed linebackers and defensive backs.
