The only exception i would make is probably planar related armors because at least the planar resistance stacks and we can't forget dreadstones set bonus

You pretty much only double armor for fuelweaver and planar set armor otherwise i always have a mag and helmet

The exception I would make is for example Thulecite suit and football helmet - even though you lose durability from both you actually take less dmg like with Thulecite only but you lose less percentage. Combining stronger and weaker armor is smart

An exception to this rule is restoration armor such as the eye mask or dreadstone set. Wearing an eye mask with a body armor helps extend its durability. Also dreadstone set has a bonus for restoration and using one with another piece of armor also helps with splitting durability.

I mean, if you say it like that, then... Losing 5% is better than 6% total...

But are there like protection against some specific enemies? Like Helmet for flying enemies while suits for grounded ones

When a piece or armor breaks it let's the rest of the damage through, even if you have a replacement that auto equips.
Having a second piece of armor on prevents that.

If you have a good piece of armor and a worse piece, you will get the protection of the better one even thou the worse one shares the durability damage.
Wearing a thulecite armor and a hardwood helmet for example increases the durability of the expensive armor greatly at the price of a bit of wood.

Some armor has special effects you might want to have.
The bramble husk gives you aoe damage but doesn't offer as much protection as other armor. It's best used in conjunction with better head protection.

I'd say wear double armor whenever you can, unless you need the equipment or inventory slots for something that's more important.

but isnt it GOOD to splir damage among 2 armours? you got one strong armour for protection, and one cheap armour to help aborb the damage, to keep durability going longer

If you know you're going to be in a heavy fight, where you know you're not going anywhere to need the backpack, why wouldn't you want to double up the durability to extend the life of your armor while getting benefits from the better damage reduction. This advice is too reductive.

If you have for example the Snurtle Shell, it is highly recommended to use also some headgear, therefore the snurtle one will last way longer.

So it depends on the scenario, but usually it is indeed good.

Marble suit + Headgear vs BQ.
Dreadstone + shield
Headgear + Brumblehusk

There’s way more examples, but usually you combine to save durability on items that are good 😊

I will continue to wear body armor with the eye mask so I don't suddenly lose track of it's durability before I can repair it. Mostly for bosses and swarms as they can suddenly eat away at the eye mask if I'm not too careful.

Personally, I use this trick to extend the durability of my thulecite crowns. The shields on those crowns are super useful for facetanking various enemies like the Shadow Pieces or Bee Queen. So equip a Marble Suit and you'll tank 'em well.

No, do double up, its really useful to extend durability on expensive armor pieces. (thulicite crown + log suit)
