I feel like the boo is underrated here. The whole invisible thing is great in the middle of the pack, as that's where the most chaos is. Just having a moment to breathe is powerful. Also it's the best item to dodge the lightning with as good players will check the minimap to see who is in a star or bullet bill and will wait until they end to actually use it, but the minimap won't show you someone in a boo.

Also the stealing is still nice. Yeah stealing a star or bullet is rare but it's REALLY powerful when you do, as not only are you giving yourself that item, but someone who might have made a big play with it now can't. Plus even if you steal a banana from first? Well you might have just gotten first hit with a red shell.

The blue shell would be GOATED if it was gotten in even 4th. But it's pretty bad where you get it in 9th.

Triple Banana is still really good defensively. You just drop the next banana as a red shell is incoming. It absolutely should be a higher tier than single banana.

The speed increase from coins really isnt minor, its huge and its levels above the blooper and very useful for keeping 1st

If you spam ZL with the piranha plant, you constantly get small bursts of speed

Boo is so underrated, especially since the introduction of custom items. As someone who likes to play all power items only, the Boo is legit the best item to pull.

Items that I think are so stupid:
Blooper: What is the point of this item, all it literally does it cover some of the screen and here's the thing, if you know the track layouts so well, it's like not an issue at all, I just think it's so pointless and just does not make sense
Coin: This item is so ridiculous and how come this wasn't an item in mk7, you ALWAYS get this item every second in 1st place, and every race starts the exact same where you're in first place and you'll always get a coin and second always gets a red shell and they hit you with it and you are out of 1st place and it's like you will never be able to come back
Bomb: This item is so stupid and pathetic, when you are behind 1st place and they have a bomb, they will throw back at you and the explosion takes up the whole road like where you are driving on and it's like unavoidable

I thought it was gonna be every item from across the games for a minute.

By the way you forgot two things to mention about the boomerang flower. It's able to go through defenses and destroy multiple shells and bananas unlike the red and green shell. This gives you the opportunity to take out other racers much more effectively than the shells. Also if you throw it and have another item in your slot, it will come back in the second slot which can be also good if you have good items in there. For me it's a solid item 👍

Wow! There are so many items in Mario Kart 8! But I wonder which ones are useful and which ones are downright useless.😮🤔

Yeah, boo never seems to be giving me useful is like banana peel or green shell or worst of all the coin and it is really easy to get hit on back so i got a boo and stealed coin i used it and i got hit right away that means i just losed 1 coin soooo uncool!

The banana is so useful. It doesn’t protect me from blue shells

Why isn’t the Mega Mushroom in MK8WiiU/MK8D, I realized that a while back

the blue shell can be useless in Yoshi Sanctuary. it always takes the cannon path from what i've seen, so don't take the cannon and you'll get to see that blue shell fly right past you if you haven't passed the split paths

I would've put the ghost a little higher. Sure, it normally steals bad items, but you're invincible for quite a long time, even longer than a star

The coin has some uses it’s not just worthles

As a shortcat watcher, I am qualified to say ghe coin is not deswrved to be placed THAT bad

Blue shell should be in worthless because you get it in 9-12th place

As someone who plays this game competetivly there are a few things on this list that I disagree with.
1. Bomb. I would honestly put this in clutch af tier. If you pull this in first it can be really useful for creating space between you and the rest of the pack especially on certain tracks.
2. Green shell: I’d say it’s a not terrible item. There are definitely better items on the list that deserve a spot in solid pull more than the green shell.
3. Triple bananas: I would put this one in solid pull. It offers great defense and is just solid all around. Yes it may lack protection but what I do is just drop it behind me so that way the red breaks on the banana.
4. Piranha plant: I would put this one in solid pull. It can carve through the pack, if someone has triples ahead of you or is trailing this item is great for getting rid of them. And when you press the attack button it will actually give you a brief speed boost each time you use it.
5. Boo: the boo is a pretty decent item. You can use it to be invincible which can come in really clutch. Having one also means that no one else can steal it. By far the best item to have in first for this reason. And also if you use a boo in first it will always give you a mushroom because there is nobody ahead of you. And back to the invincibility it lasts for 10 seconds which is longer than the star and the boo also can steal something useful.
6. Crazy 8: now this could definitely be a clutch af tier but in my opinion it’s just not good. You cannot use it strategically, you can get your star stolen, and the bomb it comes with can blow yourself up.
7. Golden mushroom. This item I feel is often underrated. It provides a speed boost equivalent to a normal mushroom but it can be very useful to either just get away or make up some really good ground against the rest of the pack. And there are also certain situations where goldens are better than stars for certain shortcuts that are just big.
8. Coin. I’d put this item in big terrible. It goes at the bottom of the tier but it’s definitely not useless. Using it gives you 2 extra coins and if you have 10 then you get a 7% speed boost which is essential if your in first and are trying to get away from the pack. It also protects your 2nd item from being stolen by a boo. Let’s say you have protection or a horn in the 2nd slot. You don’t want it getting stolen. And lastly if you have a coin your garunteed to get an item next set.
8. Don’t get me wrong triple reds are great but sometimes you would rather have them for defense over offense. For that reason I’d put them in clutch af tier and the red shell at the top of solid pull.

Other than that everything else I can agree with.

I actually disagree with the star being elite ONLY because you can still have your remaining item, if you have any, stolen by Boo. It's not complete in invincibility whereas in the regular Mario games, you can actually kill the Boo with the Star. I agree with everything else however, the star is more of a Clutch AF for me personally as well as the Golden Mushroom.

I’d honestly put the coin in either not terrible because it actually has a use other than increasing your coin count by 2 when you use it

The coin is not worthless its one of my fav items because of the actual versatility and the VERY small mushroom boost and the max speed increase is epic and in 1st its kinda hard to get coins cause of red shells and blue shells beating you up ALSO getting 10 coins is OP its always like useing a constant mushrooms (the lowest speed cart can beat the fastest by a lot if it has 10 coins) so I love coins

Most items are so unuseful but are so annoying when u get hit with them
