we are all part of the same living creature ... at least we could if we would actually believe that ... a self fulfilling religion; problem solved!
where's my noble prize?
Great speech. I am so tired of being called a Global Warming denier.
I am not a denier, I am a Global Warming Heretic.
Evolution is a not so new religion.
ОтветитьThis speaker is religious. He senses enviromentalism threatens his religion. It never occurs to him that it is the fundamental absurdity of his religion, especially the so called Rapture doctrine which leads him to think the earth is soon to be destroyed by God anyway, so why worry about how we care for the planet; which is at the root of his own perceptions. No environmentalism is not a religion. But from the speakers point of view, I can understand why he thinks it is.
ОтветитьI second Dr. Plimer. One of the worst things that happened to impede rational debate regarding the alleged detrimental effects of humanity's actions regarding alleged environmental aberrations, is Al Gore's winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Gore isn't a scientist. The information that he gathered and foisted on us is nothing more than politically expedient bilge. An inconvenient truth indeed. Peace everyone:-)
ОтветитьI figured this out a few years ago. Unlike traditional religions however, Environmentalism does not promise a paradisiacal afterlife or a hell for the individual, but rather for our descendants. Which makes it all the more insidious.
ОтветитьIf environmentalism is a new religion, how does one explain the very strong support given for environmental protection by existing religions, from Catholic to Baptist? In other words, why isn't the pope worried about the competition?
ОтветитьThe only problem with religion is egoism (self-concern, selfishness, self-importance). And egoism is an equal-opportunity destroyer, helping to crumble civilizations, organizations, governments, scientific establishments and more.
