Invasions have one major flaw that seldom gets talked about.
First the good points about invasions.
Invasions attempt to seamlessly merge PvE and PvP. They act as a balancing measure for Co-Op gameplay to ensure that the extra help doesn't trivialize the game's challenge. They give the world an added sense of danger around every corner. They're a staple of the souls series, and a major reason why many seek to get into each new installment.
Reds definitely get more hate than they deserve. They're just playing the game as intended. Not trying to ruin anyone's fun. (Unless they twink and bm the noobies they kill then they absolutely deserve the hate they get but this is a minority).
All of these are good arguments for their inclusion, but they obscure a major flaw in their implementation.
PvE and PvP require VERY different mindsets.
A lot of people will say "why do you hate dying to people. It's no different than dying to a mob". This is true if you approach the entire game with a PvP mindset, but what if you don't? What if you approach the PvE with a PvE mindset?
You explore the world and acquire all of these badass spells and ashes of war with flashy animations. Spoiled for choice, you want to use all the cool stuff you find. All the flashy spells.
Sure enemies will smack you silly if you use these things recklessly, but with some strategy you can find ways to make all of these cool spells and ashes work. In PvE "getting gud" means taking your cool ash/weapon/spell and adapting your strategy to that thing. You can usually find some way to make it work, even if it seems bad initially.
In PvP, using half of these cool things will get you killed. Comet Azure? Sidestepped. Bloodhound's Fang? Parried. Blasphemous Blade? LMAO.
To "git gud" at PvP you don't pick up the cool stuff and adapt your playstyle to it. You completely disregard those options as trash, and pick up a more META option instead. You don't "get gud" at using Comet Azure. You "get gud" by not using Comet Azure.
That SUCKS for a lot of people. They don't want to approach the game like that. They want to use the cool stuff, make their RP builds, struggle against some difficult bosses, and explore the world.
Invaders come in and completely flip the game on its head, force them to abandon the cool stuff they worked hard for, and earns them a nice teabag for their troubles when they inevitably die. Fighting a player is not like fighting a mob or a boss. You need to approach both very differently.
That whiplash causes a lot of frustration for a lot of people.
That's just my two cents anyway.
I'm curious if you still think Fromsoft will abandon invasions after the Duskbloods announcement?
Hopefully this bodes well for the bad red man
How It must be for a new invader: 3 people T bagging you because they ganked one guy.
But it's okay. I'm sticking below meta, and improving. Their fat rolling and T-bagging only fuels my revenge. I can see improvement every day I play. It's getting more manageable.
But holy shit is it an uphill battle. Anyway, good video as usual
I use taunter's tongue and arena to practice for pvp and people apparently hate that but I don't care. Invading 3 gankers is just a waste of time when you are an intermediate pvp:er.
ОтветитьHonestly, at this point I've gone back to trying to invade into fight clubs on Iron Keep bridge in DS2 or behind Pontiff Sulyvhan in DS3 because ER invasions just feel like crap.
ОтветитьI think a big problem comes from solo players having to want to be invaded for it to happen. getting embered after a bosses like 3 greatly increased the amount of players that could be invaded on top of ppl embering for an edge in their game. They really did do the least for invasions in this game.
ОтветитьThe only reason I'd say an invader ruined my ER experience was when I got invaded and got my save bricked
ОтветитьI love your channel, it's taught me how to frame a lot of different aspects of the game, to gain an upper hand.
Also, the accent is pretty, but that might be bias because I'm Hispanic.
im glad the accent's out, bc it's great....best part is, i can understand it (almost) perfectly!
ОтветитьI love your accent I don’t see how anyone could dislike it and it makes the videos so much better especially when you speak in Spanish.
ОтветитьThat’s how it’s supposed to work. One guy should NOT be able to beat 3 people under normal circumstances, unless maybe that guy is mike tyson or something
ОтветитьYour accent tickles my brain and i love it
ОтветитьThe way i see it nobody has any right to complain, I see complaints from both sides all the time, Invaders complain that they always end up in an unfair 2v1, and PvE players complain about invasions. The common argument is that you signed up for invasions when you summoned your friend for coop, but by that logic when you invade you also signed up for the 2v1, its never gonna be a fair fight for you because invasions only occur if they summoned , if you dont like having to fight 2v1s, join a duel club or go to the pvp arena, thats what they are there for. Dont understand why we cant all just quit complaining and continue to enjoy this timeless masterpiece of a game.
ОтветитьThe problem is, the invader population is very split. Some people are just looking for honest fights, others invade in dirty places and exploit hostile NPCs that don't attack invaders. When you're just trying to get through a boss with a friends help, I'll admit, invasions can get really annoying. I think it's just a poor balancing issue.
ОтветитьJust git gud scrub. I am owning everyone using a lame buckler as melee weapon. This game just has high skill ceiling both pve and pvp. I feed on the tears of the weak. Thank you for quenching my thirst.
ОтветитьI’ve heard it said that PvP contributes to the overall longevity of Souls games, but does that really benefit From Software at all? It’s not a subscription game so they make most of their money off of one-time purchases which is primarily going to be made by pve players. If anything, keeping servers up for the pvp players costs them money so they may see pvp as a drain. Probably explains why they have decided to make a pvp based game (exclusive to a system that likely few fans will ever purchase).
ОтветитьSouls PVP was never good, so there's not much to ruin here. If Fromsoft could make a competent PVP experience, someday I would care about it. As it is now, often coming across players teleporting around the screen in DS3 just to find out that they're from South America and killing me by attacking a wall off in the distance is not fun or engaging. Duels are welcome but I avoid the rest of PVP like a plague until they can fix something that should have been improved by the 2nd or 3rd Dark Souls game. Elden Ring I play solo, so I only PvP if I'm dueling someone.
ОтветитьYou think the PVP in this is cancer? Then dont go get into armored core 6. That game turned into full meta trash zimmerscum heavies with shields and never got balanced to fix it. Teams turned into braindead heavies with terminal armor ( a crutch anility that gives a 5 second shield with more health than a full fucking tank mech upon reaching zero AP). Skill gap is only a small thing in AC6 with certain builds just being garage wins. Miyazaki is not the best at making a balanced or decent PVP mode by any means. The first invasion I did on this I got immediately gang fucked into a corner by 3 polearm users. Wasnt even anything I could do to fight back. So yeah, PVP is kinda fucked and seems aimed at the sweatiest of tryhards and trolls.
ОтветитьAm going miss that of the game
ОтветитьI love your voice in Spanish
ОтветитьThe taunter tongue isn’t a solution since people like Oro popularized blocking all tongue users. So when you use it the invader backs out and block you. Elden Ring 100% ruined the mutiplayer aspect of these games.
ОтветитьI notice you don't touch on invaders being able to hide behind pve mobs making you take on the computer and an invader. That is a HUGE advantage for invaders! Imagine if pvp players just played against other pvp players and co-op players were left alone as they want to be. Just because the game lets you do it isn't an excuse for being a jackazz. When I see another player in any game, my first thought isn't "how big of a dick can I be to them". I don't get off on making it harder on people. I get off on helping. I get it though. Statistically speaking, out of 8 billion people, a certain number has to be d-bags and your number got called.
ОтветитьThis music... it's the house again...
ОтветитьExcellent video except I don't speak Spanish.
ОтветитьThey did what they always do and it works every time. They take Japanese content, Europeanize it, make the Characters White and they make a billion dollars. They took a mediocre Dark Souls, spread it out in a giant open world, gave it European looking characters and lore and Caucasoid's were so enthralled they never stopped to do a critical analysis. The Japanese do this with their anime constantly. Self Worshipers are predictable. Kinda pathetic on the Jap's part but all they care about is the money. 🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьInvasions have always been dirty the dirty fights are what makes it interesting imo across the souls game and people complain about it halting progress but it doesn’t. Going through the fog wall is always an option
ОтветитьBeen saying these new souls players ruined ER and future souls games with their whining.
ОтветитьNow I know I need to use my taunters tongue, thank you!
ОтветитьNobody should or does care about the accent it’s perfectly fine and if someone doesn’t watch the video because of it they should be ashamed
ОтветитьWell, I started playing Elden Ring two weeks ago. I play on seamless coop with my wife, when I'm alone, I try my luck invading. So far, I'd say it's been pretty much 50/50. Out of 10 invasion where fights actually happen, I get between 4-6 rune arcs. And yes, fighting 2 people is one million times easier than fighting 3 reeturds ganging up on you like monkeys.
ОтветитьSo as a PVE player (mostly) whose been playing since demon souls, I like Mitazaki's explaination of them. Elite fighters roaming the world. I treat it like such, and invade with that mindset in the rare events that I do. I try to make an honorable fight if I'm the host, and allow the invader to fight my friends (unless we are goofing around with bad builds, then we team up, or if the invader tries killing the host immediately, no seamless co op for me). If i invade, I'll wait for people to get out of mob groups and try to face them one on one if possible, but I'm never a dick about it win or loose.
**Again, as mostly a PVE player, this is how I enjoy invading even when I run into a gank squad. I just see them as non-honorable and a bad example of what can be a good fight.
nothing beats a spanish rant
ОтветитьI love your accent 😍
ОтветитьPersonally I play the co op mod with buddies with invasions off . I’m attempting to play the game with the homie and dealing with invasions with pve build is annoying if they are using a decent pvp build and have skill . And it wasn’t even the losing that got to me , I liked the combat win or loss, problem was the frequency , every time the invasion timer ran out you bet your sweet bippy there was an immediate invader that we had to stop an deal with . Love invasions usually but honestly the pvp is best for me in the coliseums
ОтветитьTo me, Elden Ring is truly the most Good + Bad PvP experience of the fromsoft games.
More variety and combinations of stuff to be creative with.
More likelihood people will just default to power and power alone especially thanks to the countless people that spread copy-paste power-hungry setups.
I both love, and hate it, but the part i am the most saddened with: only a single invader can show up at a time without Taunter's Tongue active.
I want my group brawls outside of the arena, just like the old days of "GET BACK HERE!!"*gets golf-swung by a new challenger*
[These words come from someone who has made 20+ gimmick characters/ (mostly indie game) cosplays, and with about 10 more in works from DLC.
In DS3 that number didn't even reach 10]
It should be just as simple as a opt in or out slider. If Timmy wants to play with 27 summons and his friends and not ever be invaded than fine. Thats valid. Let them play that way. For those who opt in then fine. Thats just as valid. Enjoy your invasions. I dont understand why this opinion is controversial or offensive. I dont particularly care for pvp in any game tbh. Ive become an old man and could care less about competing online with teenagers and no lifes. My KD does not matter to me or anyone else in my life and no one in my world cares if I can down Elden Ring bosses hitless, first try or not. The women i speak to would bot be impressed by my low vigor run or that refuse to use Rivers of Blood. It is a video game. A collection of pixels. Its like you elitest judge your self worth and lives by how difficult your soulsborne games runs are. Does it make you feel like a better person or something? If so, im sorry
ОтветитьThe lack of Ultrawide support because "it would be unfair in PVP" looks ridiculous too.
ОтветитьInvade me and im taking you on a tour of the lands between lol. Me and my friends dont like invasions but know its a feature of the game. So yeah we wont fight, but we'll waste a good hour of your day making you chase us until you give up from boredom lol
ОтветитьAlways thought OnlyWaifu was a trashcan troon, turns out she is an Argentinian woman....something far funking worse
ОтветитьThe three invasions I did to get to The Chicken Farm were crap. Invade nearby didn't work at all, so I had to do invade anywhere. Two were in some dungeon where it was extremely frustrating to find them. The third was right next to a field boss and a 3v1.
"Why would anybody do this?" I thought to myself
Hot take but the Belltowers from DS2 are the best PvP I've had in the entire series. Equal mix of people just trying to do the boss and veterans looking for fights.
Ответитьcreo que me siento atraido a ti.... mas videos en español please
ОтветитьI just miss invasion buddies, being on Pontiff and having 3 other invaders with you fighting a gank squad to the death was just cinema
Ответитьi agree cuz even environment level has unbalanced and difficulty with elden ring rpg system makes people something chetos. for pvp? there is huge problem about proper role playing.
this system makes invader fall to pit. diversion difficulty between who get assistance and who not, pk doesn't work fair. so there is quote from korean gamers. The game isn't about winning, it's
about Controling emotion... so make your opponents mad
with ds3 as my first souls game, I had a ton of fun playing through the actual game and then invading when I finished the PvE stuff. I fell in love with invasions in ds3, even just the simple fact that you had an R1-R1 true combo on every single weapon, made it more fun to me, cause mistakes are more punishing if your opponent is good at the game and spacing well. In Elden Ring, PvP is like night and day compared to ds3, at least in my head
ОтветитьIts a 3v1 ? with the invader being the agressor of course its hard ? if its the other way around what could drive newer players to opt in for pvp in the first place ? New players can and should play in the colosseum for improving first. I mean i really learned a lot on how to deal with meta players and bug users and other loadouts in the arenas.
Ответитьcame for Elden Ring...
stays for L A T I N A
so, me personally, ever since the original Dark Souls, if I was doing coop, and was talking with the person I was playing with, and we got invaded, I always tell the person to back off, and I’ll 1v1 the invader. Because I know how difficult it can be when every invasion is a 3v1, and it’s rough, and you end up hating yourself because the odds are stacked so high above you good luck ever seeing your opponent atop of that pile. In Seemless Coop I do this, and the invaders always seem to go completely brain dead, and bum rush the host, so. I have them a chance to 1v1, which would be difficult, but it’s better to do several 1v1s than a 3v1 you have virtually no chance of winning. I wish more people were aware of how invasions work, and would do the same thing I do, and give the invader a chance, but… fat chance, right?
