The Game Awards 2024 GOTY Nominee is Controversial

I'm going to turn on my 'conspiracy theory' mode and suggest that Shadow of the Erdtree is replacing Veilguard in those nominations because of how much of a failure it turned out to be. They're trying to fix the issue by nominating a DLC that will undoubtedly receive massive support, masking how rigged it all was when they realized no one would believe Veilguard deserved those nominations. Even the media outlets are backing out of they're initial reviews of the game, trying to fix they're credibility. There. I said it. I'm ready for whatever it comes at me 😅😂😅😂

Nah Elden Ring had its time. Rebirth, Wukong, Metaphor and Astro Bot all deserve their flowers without DLCs taking it away. DLCs should be its own category

It's the trash awards. We have our own award show in Korea anyways which is better.

i can understand the controversy behind it being a dlc thats nominated. But to tell the truth SOTE has enough content on its own to be one of the bigger dlcs ive played, (im not a hardcore gamer by any means-) and could easily stand on its own two feet. Perhaps i am just biased, because i absolutely adore Elden Ring with all my heart, and have dedicated well over 900 hours to the game. If SOTE ends up winning it will just be a testament to how great it is. But with all that said... i am crossing my fingers for Wukong to win.

I genuinely think greedy companies will start releasing a new DLC for the same games every single year now that they know they can get nominations (and attention) by doing the bare minimum

This is lame. If they want to pretend that DLCs were always eligible then Phantom Liberty would have been nominated last year. I loved Shadow of the Erdtree but if anything it just proves that there should be a best DLC category.

Metaphor would have my vote. Best game I’ve played since picking up Elden ring . Huge Pokémon fan growing up and I really like the political pull ins w metaphor, felt very mature and not lecturey

Best Score and Music) Metaphore Refantazio (Would be Mario & Luigi: Brothership if that was the option)
Best Audio Design) Astro Bot
Best Performance) Briana White (I'd give it Hiroki Takahashi, who played the titular Emio the Smiling Man)

How can they have a VR category but not a DLC/expansion category it is vexing put on top of that Jeff is trying to trademark the term game awards so no one can host their own, this year is turning into insanity

I don't know whats good at the game awards anymore. One of my personal favorite releases this year was zenless zone zero and i thought it easily could have been nominated for multiple categories such as best ongoing game, best audio direction and best music in general. But it only got a nomination for best mobile game despite also being on pc and Playstation. I didn't expect half of these to go the way they did with SotE getting a nomination, but space Marine 2 not getting anything? An innovation to accessibility category but no best dlc category? Smh

Just give it to baldurs gate 3.Well be playing it every year from now on so i see no reason for why we can’t make this a tradition.

There needs to be a DLC category, it’s awful they’re allowing a DLC to possibly win GOTY, that position could have been given to a smaller developer/indie game, I felt bad when I voted as I really wanted to vote Wukong but it was in the same categories as Rebirth so I couldn’t, I’m not biased at all……..😂

I know it's not going to win but Stellar Blade deserves a nomination at the very least besides dlc and wukong underperforming at launch literally the performance was trash

On the one hand, Wukong actually got nominated. Big shock. On the other hand, SotE is up there, and as I said before, it doesn't belong there, full stop. No WH40K Space Marines 2? No Hell Divers 2?

Oh well, award shows have been irrelevant for a while.

We should really boycott the Game Awards for good. BAFTAs are way better
