Understanding guitar truss rod adjustment

This is by far the clearest explanation I have found on this topic.

Adjusting truss rods can only do minimal reductions in the string actions. Taking down the height of the saddle’s always effective.

watching this 28 years late, but in the last couple months i figured all this out and brought life back to guitars didnt know sounded and played so well, broke my fingers playing live with terrible settings but now i know and is what counts

Have had truss rods on certain guitars that have little to no effect on changing the bow on some necks. The nut or allen head can be turned from full loose to very tight with little to no change in the arch of the neck. Have noticed this mostly on cheaper chinese guitars, but am sometimes baffled as to why a straight edge shows virtually no difference after a major truss rod adjustment. It often feels like the truss rod itself is too flimsy to make the wood move

Righty tighty, lefty loosey. But with a truss rod lefty loosy will make your action higher, while righty tighty will flatten your frets. Learned this the hard way yesterday when i broke my truss rod because the backward nature of this trying to get rid of string buzz. But, i think the guy who worked on my guitar just didnt do a very good job. String buzz after maintenance, means ill never let them touch my new guitar when it comes. Good thing i buy budget ones.

Finding a trustworthy and experienced guitar tech is the issue.

So this is how we raise and lower the action? For higher action loosen and lower tighten?

now how to figure if you have a single or dual action rod!

I just got an old silvertone f hole acoustic from a pawn shop for a STEAL and the only thing it needs is lower action, i hope this is the fix

Here's my tip.................if the truss rod works (and they usually do).....it's easy. Watch this!
