Oscar had the potential to be the greatest of all time. He had more talent than Mayweather. The downfall of Oscar was that he loved the white powder and women a little too much. Mayweather was way more disciplined in that he never smoked, drank, or did drugs. Oscar also fought the best and nvr ducked anyone so u have to respect that. Mayweather cherry picked which made him seem like he was a better boxer because he kept his undefeated streak.

I would say that his legacy is in that he ducked no one, he fought anyone and everyone he could fight. He didn't win them all but he went up against the best and always competed at a high level.

Prime De La Hoya is definitely up there as one of the all time great fighters. Look at the quality of his opponents. Throughout his career. The success he's had since he retired, as a promoter, is impressive as well.

Had he kept his act clean outside of the ring he would be given the respect he deserves.
