At this point.. of course it's a reboot. Because A: they have already shown the Enterprise, and it doesn't look like the TOS version. So, this can not be Prime timeline as we the fans knew it. B: the uniforms for the Enterprise crew in the Season 2 trailer.. again not what fans would expect to see in a "none- reboot" C: Klingon's.. what in the hell.. not even close.. At least in the ST: Enterprise series they explained why the Klingons had smooth heads, but in the end they ended up looking like the Klingons that MOST fans would expect to see. Discovery is not that bad of a show, and I admit I liked it as it went alone following the not so good two part pilot, but  this is not my Trek, or what I would come to expect from a trek series. MOST of the fans of Star Trek want to see Prime timeline TOS, TNG, DS9, Voy. style Star Trek. I'm not sure why the FAILS in command at CBS continue to push out Trek that again MOST of the fanbase see roll their eye's and go.. Meh, or no way.

Anybody remember the United Paramount network? Star Trek has always been dragged around on some moneygrubber's chokechain. Even if CBS were to bring Discovery out from behind the paywall, it would still be a corporate-calculated, pc-adulterated, marketing combinated mess.

And they killed Axanar. Corporate-think is truly a psychosis.

Orville isn't actually a parody. It's more along the lines of a drama with some comic elements.... which is why the critics couldn't understand it.

TBH i liked Discovery for what it was a story . i have in my 57 years seen every episode i have no problem with either timeline storylines get complicted along the way especially when you introduce things like the Q . it is just a shame that greed gets in the way i just hope it doesnt mean the end of a great series weather tv or movie . i like star trek and star wars equally I'm also a big doctor who fan (god i hate that word)

A refit Enterprise E set in the 2390s with a Captain Riker would have been a better choice than Discovery.

regarding axanar, made me remembers what my IP law lecturer taught us 20+ years ago, Mrs Rina always emphazised that IP law as in any business law demands the lawyers to have a business senses to enough distinc between hard-lined industrial design and patent/trademark of machinaries or methods,as used in pharmaceuticals or auto/machine industries, are vastly different with the soft-social oriented IP of arts and film. "always accounts the fans!, without them, your IP in arts and films are just an expensive labels" those are hammerred to us, the pupilsby her. seeing how the axanar creators and producers just being hammered with cease and decease letters, i would doubt that the Paramount &CBS lawyers are with IP law background at all. it sounded like your garden variety "criminal or non business lawyers heavy-hitter". and those CBS exec, are the kinds of current exec that just wants cash-cows, not like the old-school Viacom's exect that knows star-trek is "golden goose", that might be a late-burner-slow-profits kind of IP merchandise, but would last a long time. as evident that the star-trek franchise are the ones sustains Viacom and Paramount for a very long time, and still made money trough syndications of the original series for almost several decades after its premiered. what a regretful decisions!.

I refuse to buy into the discovery story because anexar was closed down from the start. Ive seen the upgraded ships... Its not connective to enterprise or the original star trek...

Well Discovery must have had the viewership. They is a second season coming out. I haven't seen it. Not gonna pay for another streaming service.

If CBS would have come out saying that this incarnation of Star Trek was a reboot I would have actually watched it..... But like the bunch of delusional liberals that they are they had to double down on the nonsense by insisting that what we were seeing was false and what they are telling us is true.... Ugh!

The only way to fix the problem with Star Trek Discovery is to make an episode that reveals the whole thing was taking place within an another reality OR! WAS AN ALTERNATE TIMELINE created by something in which someone from the real Star Trek timeline shows up to try and correct.

The Orville turned out to be better Star Trek than STD...

Everyone is claiming that the new Star Trek suffers because of SJW's... but it's the poor writing and direction. Some of the stand alone episodes that only tangentially touched on the season arc were really good. But the story arc itself was just a mess..

So I guess with the legal issues between Paramount and CBS, why do Star Trek at all if you can't legally do it right. All that can be expected to happen is to alienate the long time fans which is where the money is at.

The biggest threat to STD is most definitely The Orville, but that's mainly because The Orville listens to the fans and is not hidden behind a shameful paywall. We are getting a really well produced product that does not insult our intelligence and entertains at the same time. I can see The Orville going on and on for years, but STD not so much so.

I've been a Startrek fan since the beginning and I enjoyed the 1st season of Star Trek Discovery. I'm looking forward to the 2nd season when it comes out on DVD.

Anything “they” touch, they destroy. They would find a way to ruin Axenar. I have NO doubt.

I really love watching Star Trek Discovery! However, it really bothers me that they changed the Klingons and I don’t like that they have more advanced technology than the original series.

Interesting how things turned out with STD which feels like an STD when one watches it.

Axanar is a better product than ST Discovery ( lol STD appropriate ) and CBS/Paramount knows this .IMOP this is why the law suit . Making the point is I skipped the portion of this vid that talked about STD and started at the point where this vid talked about Axanar . Which was easy enough to do by paying attention to the thumb nails as I hovered the timeline slider . I'll watch Space 1999 before I'll watch anything to do with STD , and even then it would be necessary to tie me down and force my eyelids open .
To be fair I did watch some of the STD trailers > what a bunch of crap .

I think the STD creators should hit up the Axanar folks for writing tips.

I have to say it but both are suffering from the 'bottom line', money! For instance how Captain America did great after after 40 years of tried but stinking attempts to get it right. Then Bat Man started out great so did Super Man and after a long time we had to wait for the revise to come close again to what they (stories) should have been, GREAT. Now fans have to suffer like we are, by going through another BAD Fantastic Four drought. CBS is doing the Disney thing "we so SORRY fans buy what we are selling" excuse. I think CBS feels they have to protect what they own, BUT if a very small source of fan satisfaction they get from fan made shorts scare them, then maybe they should consider what fans want, the franchises done right, not done for just for money. just needed to get

After following the Star Trek series,Movies,Cartoons and comics since day one,including every series made im finally done with Star Trek due to the show now being a SJW vehicle,nobody hand me any of the male chauvinist pig BS because Janeway is my favorite of all Captains ,yes Janeway above Picard and Kirk because her role as Captain because she #1 was a fantastic actress & #2 because her sex had nothing to do with her role as Captain,now this new show bypasses the ships real captian because hes a white male,then focuses on the #2 character and a homosexual character,im done & wont spend another dollar ever,Just throw away the excellent Chris Pine reboot for this SJW garbage is a death sentence for Star Trek.

Although I didn't really like Discovery, and am a big fan of the old Star Trek shows and movies, I didn't really mind Discovery's visuals. They were very stylistic and unique. I've long felt the visuals of old Star Trek don't really hold up anymore in the current day and were in need of an update. Everything needs to have continuity however and should take place in the Prime timeline. The writing was also pretty poor.
