No one made themselves redundant. If you tell someone they need to work 40 hours a week doing a particular job, they will do that job for 40 hours, regardless of whether the jobs takes 40 hours, or whether there is any need for the job in society. Companies exist due to their unending revenue streams. If they don't make money, they go out of business, regardless of how unnecessary the business is to society. If charities solved problems, there would be no need for charities. If governments worked well on issues such as homelessness and immigration (both easily solvable problems in the gran scheme of things) government departments set up to work on these problems would have to downsize.

The NGOs only grow and thrive by feeding the problem. The sooner we wake up to that the better off we’ll be.

I call it "the Progressives Paradox". Progressives acquire personal worth through the causes (the problems) they campaign for (they fight to solve). Without a cause, a problem, to fight for Progressives have no mechanism by which they can acquire personal worth (wealth, power, influence, social standing, etc.). Consequently, if a problem they are fighting to solve is actually solved they lose their mechanism to acquire wealth, power, influence, and/or social standing - this is why they HATE anyone that actually attempts to solve a problem they are fighting for. To solve problems removes their justification for being Progressive.

The purpose of an NGO/Charity SHOULD be to ultimately put itself out of business by SOLVING the actual problem (rather than serving itself and its own interests) I always liked the old African saying "Be thankful for the foreigner with food and temporary tents, be wary of the foreigner building permanent buildings".

I do work for lots of NGO's and they cluelessly think they don't have to pay GST for my services being umm 'non-profit/charities' despite the fact that I have to pay GST......it's like speaking to kindergarten kids or spoilt brats and always ends with "call the Tax office, they'll tell you this themselves" .....They're the most clueless and self serving clients I have ever had and there are more and more of them everyday living in an alternate economy, I'm yet to find one that genuinely helps anyone but themselves.
