Kinda looks like a UNSC ship

At this point, with so many people using it, i'm surprised the devs didn't just make a large-to-small-and-back block that fulfills the same funtion, but much easier.

I have to wonder; are these ships built from the inside out or the outside in?
Do they start with the hull and build the interior from that, or do they build the interior and base the hulls on it?

Shows self destruct button, doesn't self destruct it

I literally made a modular cargo ship that was way more huge and better (in terms of practicality) then this last year, but that one update that erased saves and blueprints made me lose it, so mad, maybe ill remake it.

It would be good to see a ship like this whit 6 peoples on it attacked and the crew have to survive and escape whit the pods

you failed to show the aft section of the ship, the internal cargo bay, the observation tower, and main engineering, as well as failing to show the working self destruct... you spent way too much time on the exterior, and utterly failed to actually show off the interior of the ship save for a few sections in the bow... Redux is in order methinks.

What I like about this ship is the threefold advantage of having the cargo completely exposed.
1. Easy to grab a lot of cargo in a realistic way (let's say on a roleplay server that limits the use of magical conveyors).
2. You can easily repurpose the ship to carry anything - from pre-built station segments through smaller vessels to infantry drop-pods to deploy soldiers from orbit..
3. By exposing cargo like this, you force the potential pirates to be much more careful with their fire. After all they want the cargo stolen, not blown to pieces.

And the detailed, brownish structure reminds me of my beloved game, Fragile Allegiance, which is always a big plus for any spacecraft.

Why you no do self-destruct? ) -:

Mergeblocks combined with those full sized door blocks don't always work. Only when the ship/station you're docking with uses the slim doors the connection will work. If both sides use the big door blocks, the doors will merge (since they'll be touching), and you won't be able to seperate the different grids anymore.

I think if Space Engineers had A. Better optimization and B. More complex / powerful weapon systems like From The Depths, I'd like it 100x better...
But mainly because of the weapons really, I like FTD better as there's just more things to build and especially... better combat suited ships / spaceships.

what skybox do you use?

Fantasy ship, nobody would bother with "contrasting detail" or "recesses" on a real ship. A cargo ship is meant to carry CARGO, accommodate its crew and perhaps have a bit of defense against pirates or rogue asteroids. Every little bit that doesn't fulfill its role is wasted space, more mass to be carried around instead of precious cargo, because you're a .... cargo hauler ... that gets paid for how much stuff brings over.


One of these days, if time permits, I will have to download some "cargo ships" and take my grinder to them, make them look real.
