Much appreciated, great use of tools - thanks from Ohio!
ОтветитьGreat video! Absolutely hit the nail in the head. I especially liked your recommendation on “start local”. My Gaia is filled with routes I made in Colorado, Utah, Idaho, etc… and quite a few sit there still unexplored. I shifted gear and started local (AZ)… amazing what the back country in your backyard has to offer!
I’m looking forward to this series!
Great video. Looking forward to your next educational video. I have watched your travel videos and it is excellent to see how the trips are planned.
ОтветитьNice job, but I use OnX 😢
ОтветитьGreat video.
ОтветитьNothing to see here folks! Montana is where you want to go
ОтветитьSuper helpful Will. Thanks man.
ОтветитьThanks Will, very helpful. What do you do on Gaia about "May Overlay" in Map Layers?
ОтветитьIncredibly helpful Will!
ОтветитьFantastic video. Great territorial.
ОтветитьCool video, thanks.
Ответитьgreat video, these are good pointers, thanks!
ОтветитьWill, I love how you CHANNEL your INNER SHATNER!!!! Overlanding Baby Steps. Thanks for the awesome video. My suggestion for folks is to practice the process locally. Lots of small trips you can take that will allow you to follow this model and get better using the tools without getting lost in the wilderness.
ОтветитьAwesome video
ОтветитьWell done. We will be sharing this in our groups!
ОтветитьIt sounds like you need coffee/red bull as well! Dont forget the creamer.
ОтветитьThank you for great info
ОтветитьGreat information, thank you so much! Here is hoping for a great Idahome camping season in 2023! 🏕️
ОтветитьGreat info Will
ОтветитьThis is a great video... Ton of effort put into making a video like this... appreciate it.
ОтветитьThanks Will! I have downloaded the video for viewing again! Very helpful and look forward to planning lots of adventures this summer and beyond!
ОтветитьI've heard the newer 'overland' layer on Gaia includes many features of other separate layers, but in a much smaller file size, so easier to cram more on your phone. I've yet to systematically 're-do' may offline map layers on my phone, swapping for the overland layer.. don't think the overland layer includes satellite photos though, so still want those. Thoughts on this layer?
ОтветитьThis is so helpful
ОтветитьSimply Must Go recommended you channel. Excellent video and I subbed. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
All the best,
Norm in Arizona
I've stated this a thousand times already. You and your channel are GREAT!! Really great content and awesome approach to keep folks engaged. As stated before, I'm doing my channel (jeepNdirt) as a fun thing, but as I work on stuff to post (every few months) I can tell you one of the little projects I have is encourage folks who can't camp (due to special needs, etc.) on how to go about experiencing overlanding places without camping and how to find them. I think I'll simply do a small intro, feed some of my experience, then send them to your video here, then ask them to come back for more. (wait, your channel is so freaking great, they won't come back. Lol!!!) Ahh it doesn't matter, as long as I can help someone then in God's eyes I've served someone. God Bless you brother. Seriously I'm having a hard time understanding why you're not at 100k subscribers or more. Oh, and I'm also a YJ guy for over 21 years and love that hoodie.
ОтветитьThanks for the Trailsoffroad shoutout! We work really hard on our guides and it's great to know it's worthwhile for people!
ОтветитьWill, Thanks a bunch for this vid and the coming series for beginners. Your delivery makes the subjects in all your vids very easy to understand and convey the info you want. A question on it. So do you need onX road or trails offroad or something like them to give you the info for Gaia? Does Gaia not have that info? Maybe in the series talk about the differences in all the tech nav and mapping apps. Are these apps what you have always been using and why. If you used others why did you change. Maybe some are easier for beginners?
ОтветитьDo you normally use your phone or a tablet for these while out on the trail? If a tablet does it need to have a gps chip in it or not?
ОтветитьGreat advice. I'm familiar with 90% of all the tools mentioned, but I always like to keep up on learning. Mapping routes can be one of the most tedious things in planning, but can save you a ton of time, with confidence when you get out.
ОтветитьThanks! Will share this video with friends.
ОтветитьCan't thank you enough. I've been using several of these apps/programs for months, but didn't realize how much more capable they are when used in concert with each other. I enjoy the overlanding videos, but especially enjoy and appreciate the instructional/informational videos. Thank you again.
ОтветитьThese are some great tips! Thank you!
I don’t see it up anymore but years ago “Explore Southwest” posted a video with some interesting ideas. Old bookstores and libraries with a local section often have books that go into detail, including locations, on neat things to go see. Sometimes these POI’s never made the jump to the digital world so they’re relatively unknown.
Another way to find good trails is to do essentially what Adv Taco does. Look through USGS reports of old mining claims or FAA records for old plane crashes and build your trip around finding that neat historical stuff. (or go hunt fire towers like you guys do) A lot of these spots had historical trails built to them to support whatever work was going on there. It’s can be helpful to have a goal in mind and let the trail exploration happen along the way
Haha. You said “yahoo’s”. I call my kids that all the time.
Tried any good bourbons lately?
Amazing video!! I am not new to overlanding but I have not done everything you do here. I will definitely start incorporating some of your tips in my planning phase.
ОтветитьThis video is showing me alot, and keeping me rethinking about how I want to camp
ОтветитьIt's great to learn how to find trails ourselves but surprising to hear that your subscribers are told that they have to find these epic spots themselves if they want to go to the places you show in your videos.
ОтветитьI use onx-offroad in conjunction with google earth pro. A lot of onx's map data is outdated, so the road or route you see may no longer exist. Google Earth Pro is a good way to follow up on a location to verify it's integrity and accessibility
ОтветитьGreat content!! Just starting all this and it's great to learn all this stuff. Enjoy your videos too!!
Ответить"Instaspammers" LMAO
ОтветитьThis channel continues to be fantastic. How do you not have millions of subscribers?????
ОтветитьAnother great video and inspiration. Each one I watch reminds me to get out there and experience the great outdoors.
ОтветитьAwesome video and very helpful! Thank you
ОтветитьLinks to those videos on that lookout please?
ОтветитьBest explanation I’ve seen on how to do this! Thank you
ОтветитьSpectacular info!!!!
ОтветитьThank you Will
