The problem in the Cameroonian national team is deeper. Eto couldn't hold it longer than he did. The team has been broken into two. There is a camp with Ngadeu which openly criticises the lack of certain players from so called big teams who flee from decisive matches and bring down the morals of engaged players yet they're are continually called to play to the detriment of the resilient players. Some of such players rejected calls to the team in their prime yet found their way through via connection. This is the case of Zambo Anguissa , George Kevin Nkoudou etc.
The second faction is led by Anguissa obviously. Many did not notice but Ngadeu and Anguissa fought after the match against Burundi. Anguissa refuses to greet Choupo who asked him to stop breaking the rhythm and every attacking onslaught. Then Aboubakar was called to book for being self-centered because he didn't want others to shine.
Some players feel entitled and a friend (match official at FECAFOOT) said Zambo claimed his place in Qatar is certain even if he is injured. Some journalists (Sam Severin Ango ) even warned Eto not to dare leave Zambo behind. Song seemingly soiled his honor by calling some undeserving players. Now some players are denied good passes. Some players even derail from the game plan at will.
Eto'o' an old broom could detect all these and thought it important to hit the iron while it is hot.
It is not known to the public but bureau members of sports federations motivate their actions (before the sports ministry: (I am presently completing my report for African nations competition which the State did not even finance) especially football which can cause an uprising in a second.
