I am a little bit confused. Your GPU temps are higher than my 3090 (480W OC'd) HOT SPOT peak temps. Loop is D5 Pump -> Aquacomputers filter -> TR 3960X -> RTX 3090 (EK Vector Quantum top AND bottom sandwich blocks) -> Alphacool NexXxos Monsta 420 -> Alphacool NexXxos Monsta 560 and then back to the D5 with Res combo from EK. Case is Thermal Take Core W200 and there are 10 BeQuiet Silent Wings 3 High Speed that run 1200 RPM max 140mm blowing in. Rad fans are Noctua Industrial PPC 3000 140mm fans that are running 1000 RPM max. Pump runs 100%.

I wish watercool made a smaller version of that block in AM4 it was always my favorite looking block with the integrated mounting and all nickel it just looks incredible. I have a heatkiller iv pro with am4 mount but it performs worse than an artic liquid freezer with the offset mount on my 5950x so it was retired. I'm seeing 76-73c peak tdie temps after a cinebenchr23 10 min run. pbo 4.55 on a liquid freezer 240mm @19c ambient.

Will likely got the same way was Threadripper is just to voilitle as a platform for workstarion use in that AMD cannot seem to define for themseleves what is a workstation. x399 dead, trx40 dead, Threadripper pro $2k more to start before you start matchig parity fo just albeit a very nice 8 channel memory feature. I am going to guess the same way as I think you are and just get the best of the desk top line more often as the AMD workstration while I love the threads is always using older cores. I can buy the same number of more modern cores by just running a main CPU and render node PC. Desktop and Sever do nothing but kill workstation for AMD because I guess they see anything in the middle as cannabilizing the high end margins.

I'm using 5950X with MSi X570S ACE MAX motherboard and it's amazing. Everything works so well and fast. Not a single complaint about it. I'm also using the PowerColor 6900XT GPU with 32 GB of Corsair Dominator Platinum 3600 Cl14. Storage is Seagate Firecuda 530 2TB and 8TB WD Black HDD for storage purposes. Case is Phanteks P600S, PSU is Phanteks RevoltX 1000 Watts Platinum and CPU Cooler is Phanteks MP280 AIO. The fans I put in the case are the silverstone air penetrators 140mm. They push and immense amount of air from front to back and they are quiet for the fan speed. This PC is amazing and I'm very happy with it. I'm looking forward not to ZEN 4, but to ZEN 5.

I'm surprised that that mobo doesn't have any cooling it seems on the VRMs... that CPU is very demanding!

Just a question, wouldn't it have been better to have 2 x 240 + 360 rad so you can sustain a higher clock speed with pbo at around the same temps?

I envy your 5950x, but for my specific workload I think Threadripper might be better. Obviously the 5950x is on the newer node. Had AMD announced a Threadripper 6000 platform for this year, would you have waited for that instead?

from the perspective of reliability, i'd love some content about choosing whether or not to use water cooling components for different user skill levels. a friend of mine got unlucky with an aio leak that ruined $2000 worth of parts and will never give up air cooling again, would be interesting to hear a professional's perspective

Why You add so much termal paste?

I'm curious I have 5900x cooled by Noctua nh-u12a in corsair 275r case (with solid front so it's pretty bad for airflow) I'm pretty happy with temperature in synthetic benchmarks (stock without pbo 70-75 degrees C max) but games can jump up to 90 degrees especially when loading stuff, and while I know that this is probably fine considering my case and air cooling, how zen3 operates do you thing it's going to improve if CPU is watercooled?
