Medical Fact: Unless a person is diagnosed with narcolepsy (a sleep disorder), it is physically impossible to go from walking / standing to fully asleep in less than one minute unless there are significant pharmaceuticals involved. Alprazolam (Xanax) doesn’t induce sleep like that… particularly if the person was wide awake 45 seconds prior… it is a much more gradual induction as it isn’t a strong sleep inducer (like Ativan or other stronger benzodiazepines are). Of course if the Alprazolam was mixed with alcohol or other CNS depressant like an opiate, then rapid loss of consciousness can occur, but typically, the loss of consciousness will be persistent (meaning a ringing phone will not be enough to arouse the unconscious person). This looks very much like an opiate related nod off, as the body movements and periods of conscious / unconsciousness are similar to an opiate intoxication syndrome.
