I guess $360 isn't bad in comparison to others. I just hate that scopes are such an expensive add on.

@skindresser I was thinking the same thing.... plus what if I want more magnification than 2X at 200 yds, then you would have to compensate for shooting to high... If is was limited to the $400 price range I’d rather go with a Nikon M223. But just my opinion.

@YourMilageMayVary FYI - You can use the M1000 as a standard 2.5-10x scope by de-coupling the power ring from the zoom ring. Simply lock the the cam ring in the 2.5 position, decouple the power ring and you have a 2.5-10x scope. The M1000 also has a mil-dot reticle in it. You can go to 10x and use it as a mil-dot scope as well. So, really, you have 3 options... 1) ART, 2) 2.5-10 (w/ a 250m zero), 3) Mil-dot.

@PAairsofter I recently bought this scope for my M1A and ever since day 1 at the range I have been impressed. I own an M1A Loaded with the Medium weight barrel and with the M1000 I was getting very consistant sub-MOA 3-5 shot groups at 100 yards, which is the minimum distance to zero this scope. Ive gone through about 3 to 4 scopes trying to find one that works well with the M1A and this is it hands down. The price is definitly worth it.

After seeing your first review of the M1000 I went and bought one. I finally had a chance to sight it in yesterday at 273 yards with my Colt light weight that has a Colt M4 upper, 16" pencil barrel and the original FCG that has like a 10 pound trigger and I still hit the target with a 5" group. Just think what I do with a two stage trigger and a varmint upper.

@Ranger4321 I'm curious, what mount are you using on your M1A? How well do you like the turrets? (sorry, i know your post is 9 months old)

Ответить
@Ranger4321
@Ranger4321 - 09.01.2012 01:46

@sw8741 I use a Sadlak Industries scope mount. I like the turrets pretty well, its nice to have the ability to have 4 or 5 different zeros possible for 5 different bullet weights. It sits a little high, but the mount allows for the use of iron sights as well. I did have trouble with the turret screws becoming lose, but it wasnt anything a little dab of locktite couldnt fix.

I'm on my 3rd M1000. first was ordered around Christmas, could not get the thing on paper, it was shooting 4 foot high. (The only reason I know that is I saw a tree limb get struck.) Sent it back and opticsplanet sent a reman that looked like a kid tried to repaint it,the screws all looked like they had been chewed up with pliers and painted over. I didn't even mount that one.

Just got the new one in.... I'm not sure if it's much better than the first one. I have a 4'X4' target and haven't hit it once. I have the scope mounted on a Remington 700 VTR .308 with a 0 MOA rail. The cam setting should be around 330 for Winchester 150 grain, but ballistics for m80 ball is closer to 310. At 100 yards (as per the manual's 100 yard zero) I have no clue where this thing is going. I moved into 50 yards (with the MOA mark above the box) and still nothing....

my first M1000 was pretty wierd on the windage. when i had the laser bore sight on it, when i adjusted the windage, it would look like the laser moved at a 45 degree angle. I like the idea of this scope, but i'm not having any luck with it.

I knowthis is an old video but I hope you get back to me.  This llooks like a good scope but one thing that I did not see you deal with is downward shooting.  This ART setup looks slick for when you are shooting with a full trajectory but how do you use it when you are not?  Only way I can figure is when one is shooting from above you have to compensate by using the mil dots.

@artdellaluce
@artdellaluce - 08.01.2014 09:53

I like this idea, but I have a question about the scopes ability.
If the scope states the 2.5x is set at 250yds, which is the lowest power, how can you zero at 100yds? Also, if you were wanting to shoot a target at 300yds at 10x power, you can't? That does not make sense.

Ответить
@artdellaluce
@artdellaluce - 08.01.2014 10:12

I saw the video with switching it over to manual zoom, thanks for posting it. I noticed you are only shooting at a fixed target with just distance simulation, so how does this actually perform when shooting 500 meters? Most people will never actually shoot over 300 meters with the 5.56? I just do not see the benefit from adjusting the turret? If your a good shot your a good shot, the scope cannot make you hit your target better.

I put one on a Remington 700 VTR in .308. I sent it back 3 times. All of them have been off. All of them were shooting about 6 feet above the target. I put a $70 Center Point scope from walmart on and it was 3 inches left and one inch high out of the blister pack. I really wish the thing would work right. It's an awesome design and concept.

Sootch , I was wondering how the m1000 is holding up for you ? My Son had one on his vepr and the rifle fell over and put a big dent in the tube ,knocking the reticle loose. It bent like a beer can . I bought one the same Time he bought his and the cam over traveled some how and the little roller inside the mount was jacked up preventing from recalibrating . He sent in a RMA and 50 bucks and sold it as soon as .he got his back.
I just recently got mine back and they just replaced mine for shipping cost . I'm a little concerned that I will have to baby the optic as to not damage it . What's your advice?

i was glancing through the comments below and i thought I'd point something out. this score was designed to remove the math of turret adjustment or hold over and help you range your target. That's it. it can't steady your rifle, make you more handsome and it certainly can't make you smarter. if you have the ability to set the cam properly this score will help you range your target and get first round hits. period. unfortunately if your not smart enough to set it up properly there's not much hope for you. as far as durability, I've owned an ART score for years and knocked it around a bit without issue. to the guy asking about cartridges not listed, Uttar the trajectory chart. sight it in at its lowest yardage then hold dead on at 4-600 yards and measure the drop and look at your chart. if i need to tell you that the 458 is not a realistic 1000 users round or that you will likely need an 8 foot target to perform this, there's little hope for your success. anywhere

I have an ART 1200 Having been asked on many occasions how I like my Hi-Lux Leatherwood scope I am finally able to offer my honest opinion. It is a Chinese made piece of #@!@!#.
In Brief if you plan to use it for anything other than a conversation piece forget about it, move on. I have had nothing but trouble out of this Chinese made !@#$. My other Hi-Lux CMR has been fine. So I took a chance and purchased the ART 1200 based on the Leatherwood reputation. Thinking I would be able to teach my children to shoot long distance. This is due to the calibrated ranging. So what was the problem? After about 10 rounds out of my M12 same for AR10. The calibrated base comes loose. The scope will not hold Zero at 100 meters. Heck it is not even on paper. You spend $600.00 on a scope, does it seems reasonable that it would hold zero? Im talking about holding zero from one shot to the next. As far as turrent tracking expectations. These were set low I don’t expect a 600.00 scope to track accurately and I was not disappointed .  So after several trips to the local optics shop to have the scope fixed with no luck. I contacted the manufacturer who made a less than generous offer of $300.00 trade in value for the defective product in exchange for a new scope. I have considered a couple of the Hi-Lux scopes and found the optics to be terrible. One of these was the  1-8 CMR 34 mm tube looking through the glass the wall eye was terrible. It is a first focal plane scope and I don’t think I have ever seen so much reticle shift. It was like looking through a box of marbles. please forgive the exaggeration in this analogy but you get my meaning I hope. I am told it does better at higher magnifications. I also considered the Phenom scope but for 500.00 difference in cost. I would just go with another SWFA (my current intermediate range scope) or maybe a Primary arms with the ACRS reticle. These are all getting excellent reviews (Take a look at Rex Reviews). I am very disappointed that the Leatherwood name no longer means quality and dependability.

I have received an update from the manufacturer. I quote. The scope i sent back was an early scope. They are sending me a new scope which has been improved. i will keep y’all posted.
