I wonder what the cost risk would be to make two versions of the game? Sort of a, Pokemon Red/Blue type situation. One version could have a female protagonist, and indulge all sorts of woke leaning trends, and a "normal" version. See which one sells better and which one doesnt sell at all.

The studio's staff alone is already justification for me to not give this game money, I don't care about the game character.

But you know, if they wanted to actually have some ludonarrative consonance and not just make a 1-dimensional girlboss snoozefest they could have actually emphasized the fact that you could use your various tools and weapons to your advantage, as opposed to brute strength, more in the actual sort of gameplay - but something tells me that your protagonist going to be launching guys twice your size like they're stunt doubles on wire in a badly written Marvel TV show.

I think what they're doing with Yotei is kinda what Assassin's Creed did. AC 1 ended in a cliffhanger and continued the story with a different protagonist in AC 2. And wrapped up both stories eventually. She may be related to Jin, but she may not be? I see it like the Avatars. We go from one character to another, Kyoshi, Roku, Aang, Korra, etc. But I trust Sucker Punch enough for them to get it right, unlike Ubisoft.

I always assumed #3 was a combination of #1 and #2. Both literally 1+2=3 and metaphorically pissing and shitting at the same time.

This situation plus what capcom did to Dead Rising last week genuinely hurts. I'm disgusted with current Triple A gaming.

In this day and age it's very plausible that a female was chosen for brownie points. Why can't we just have consistency and have Japanese male leads continued especially in game set in an era dominated by Japanese males. Sure female warriors existed but to the minority like very little yet we always get the minority choices, it's frustrating. Also we are getting 2 edo Japanese Samurai based games next year and NEITHER have a Japanese male protagonist that is crazy, Japanese males are the first thing that come to mind when you think of Samurai not a random female during a male dominated time. It's not only more historically accurate but more believable, nobody hates females, some of our favourite characters are females in gaming. We just tired of male leads constantly being shoved for stupid forced strong female characters especially in this day and age, no problem with the direction they took and that Jin story is over just keep it to a believable degree man, it makes no sense as to why a female was chosen but we know why. We like samurai for a reason and it was not because of some random female, it's why Jin and the first game was loved so much.

The problem with Yotei is that having a Female Samurai in Feudal Japan is like a finding a Unicorn. It's Woke DIE lame.

I'm only skeptical of Ghost of Yotei because of the actress and a few key people working in the studio. Aside from that, having a female swordswoman in feudal Japan is actually historically authentic. There were female Samurai (Onna-Bugeisha) throughout Japanese history, such as Nanako Takeko or even Empress Jingu for example.

My concern is that the female protagonist points to a decent likelihood of studio interference. They may do their best, but given the success of the first game, Sony almost certainly overrode some decisions by Sucker Punch. I find it hard to believe the game will be bad, but don't be surprised if there's a decent amount of modern day bullshit sprinkled throughout the game.

This game is going to be shit. People might think it's a good game in terms of gameplay and graphics, and stuff like that, but female samurai? Were there female soldiers in Japan? Yes, in many different roles, but as far as I know, a female samurai, no, just like there were no female knights in Europe, it was a position of honor reserved for men only. Not to mention that a woman defeating a bunch of men in hand-to-hand combat, with a katana, no, that's bullshit. And another thing, why is she carrying a shamisen on her back? The instrument most used and popularized by Geikos. You'll hardly see a woman who isn't a Geiko or Maiko using this instrument. If this character knows how to play this instrument, it's because she was raised and trained from a young age to be an artist, a performer. 10 years of training, where in all that time did she learn to use the katana? Fuck this game.

Given sonys track record with DEI woke bs, i have no faith in this game. Spiderman 2 had the same problem, god of war had issue, last of us 2, and even ratchet and clank rift apart had a musical section were robot female pirates sing about women rights. Yes im serious...🙄

The only game i find genuinely great is astrobot. Its arguably sonys best game in the last 5 years. Such a wholesome and joyful experience from start to finish. Its a celebration of all the best things abiut Playstations past and i love it. Its my goty.👌
