The DC verse is like a flailing sports franchise that instead of rebuilding for the future the right way, keeps desperately grasping at quick fix straws that always blow up in their faces. It’s hilarious how these supposed experts and professionals can take what should be sure thing money makers and turn them into shit.

Starting with the costume and the race swap, the film looked like garbage. And it was actually made before Brendan Fraser's resurgence, so he'd do whatever he wanted. This review was overwhelmingly positive.

In the end it wasn't a woke disaster film because none of the criticasters saw it, I still think it wasn't a big loss but that is because I expected just another girlboss film.

I've had this theory that Batgirl was actually based as fuck and the studio wanted "the message".

Zaslav is the worst. Seems to be doing his best to ruin WB to save a bunch of terrible cable channels.

Damn, the way it was described made it sound kinda interesting, made me think of Ironman 2 in a way, and I imagine it wouldve had the same reception, a movie with good visual spectacle, decent characters and subplots but at the end a kinda lowsy script that doesnt really take any risks.

I know this film was probably going to be absolute dog shit but I still want to see it. I don’t think it would’ve been a good film but maybe a fun film.

I still say we need a Batman Beyond movie with Keaton as old Bruce Wayne.

Excellent commentary! If the powers that be were not willing to fully invest in BATGIRL then why even initiate the project? Throughout history BATGIRL has been DCs most underrated and underdeveloped characters. Batgirl has always been a supporting player at best and making a film with her as the lead would be a challenge. Even if the actors killed every scene, plot and backstory were well received and production was on point, finding fans to invest in the whole BATGIRL resurgence would be quite the task for PR. I have always had a soft spot for Barbara Gordon’s BATGIRL and firmly believe the character has been treated shabbily by cooperate execs for decades. If Yvonne Craig’s pilot had been picked up I am sure the character would have flourished. Instead BATGIRL is added to BATMAN in an attempt to improve ratings. Rarely characters introduced in this type of situation receive positive feedback from fans or critics. The fact that Yvonne Craig only played BATGIRL for one season and remains an ICON til this day speaks volumes. Fast forward to 2018 and plans for a BATGIRL movie are underway…Filming is all but complete in 2022 and BOOM FILM canceled for no apparent reason. The trailers with Lesly Grace as BATGIRL peak my interest and have me wishing someone illegally downloaded a copy prior to its demise. I am baffled how in the digital age NO copy of this movie exists other than the only locked away in DC Hell. Was the doomed BATGIRL movie that horrific??? Or did once again DC simply choose other projects to promote. I do not see how BATGIRL could have been worse than the FLASH movie 2023. And I avoided the introduction of Batgirl in the 1997 Batman & Robin because the entire film with the exception of Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy was utterly terrible. Even the trailers for 2022 BATGIRL were Oscar worthy compared to that travesty. DC should man up and release BATGIRL 2022 on the MAX format (with proper editing) etc so the viewers can form their own opinion. I think we would all be in for a pleasant surprise..

The only DCEU movie I was somewhat interested in. After the disaster that was Man of Steel, I pretty much opted out of this whole franchise. Probably not something that DC Studios would’ve wanted to hear from a 9 year old American boy who’s a big comic book fan

I'm not against minorities in superhero roles. Blade, Black Panther, Storm, Luke Cage, Shang Chi & Black Lightning are just a few great characters ive enjoyed. What i hate is race & gender swaps. I'm sure Leslie Grace is a fine acteess but i had zero interest in seeg her as Barbara Gordon.

Must have been a lucrative tax write off. I never understand the phenomenon of studios spending a bunch of money for a movie and then tanking it or not supporting its distribution or publicity. Seems like a huge waste of money.
