Range anxiety on all EVs can be solved by having a backup battery that's handy and portable and can be brought in the trunk and plugged inside. These compact backup batteries should have a capacity of at least 500 km drive range each.
ОтветитьWhew, journalists really miss having CarPlay....
ОтветитьYou do a great job with your vids
ОтветитьRivian now offers CarPlay
ОтветитьI'm good with no Apple CarPlay. I've had so many issues with my iPhone not connecting correctly, but I rarely have issues when just doing a simple bluetooth connection. I tried the Google system, and it works great even with an iPhone.
ОтветитьEerrr Honda Prologue anyone....
ОтветитьTesla doesn't have CarPlay or AndroidAuto. Lucid doesn't have CA or AA. Rivian doesn't have CA or AA. Get over it. No journalist has complained when those vehicles don't offer CA or AA and yet they can't stop turning it into a big deal with GM. You can install all your usual Android apps on GM's system and run them natively. Holy crap are journalists making this into a big deal when it isn't.
ОтветитьThe odd thing with the Blazer is that to get it fully loaded you have to get the RWD or the SS. If you want a fully loaded AWD “Blazer” with carplay (without paying for an SS) you get the Honda Prologue and then hope that Honda doesn’t abandon the car and make it hard to service. I have test driven both the Blazer EV and the Prologue and they are nice. I think the 288 hp is adequate for this large and heavy SUV/Wagon, but I want more than adequate. Most of the competition have a higher hp to weight ratio.
ОтветитьI prefer Android Automtive over CarPlay. GM did a great job integrating it in the Blazer. I prefer that infotainment system to the one in my Hyundai with CarPlay.
ОтветитьLooks too much like the new Buicks and i don't like it 😢. What happens when that charge door freezes in the winter and you can't charge?
ОтветитьI drove both the blazer and model Y back to back and my money went to the Tesla. More sporty, better software and supercharger network.
ОтветитьLack of CarPlay is annoying, not deal breaker, but seems sticker price is nearly 10k over AWD Model Y
ОтветитьI think apple carplay is very outdated, I love tesla's system much better.
ОтветитьI love mine. WAY more smooth, quiet and refined than a family member’s Model Y. The giant backseat was also something I wanted. One of the biggest anywhere in an EV if you need to install rear-facing child seats.
ОтветитьCarPlay and Android Auto are crutches and an excuse for having terrible UX.
ОтветитьWithout CarPlay, you need an OnStar subscription, and you have to trust OnStar to respect your privacy. I like my Bolt. I hope to keep it for many years. My next car will need CarPlay. Sorry GM.
ОтветитьI just bought one of these, and as an iPhone user I don't care much about CarPlay. To me the bigger flaw in this Blazer EV is the overly sensitive warning systems. Unless you want to turn them entirely off, your drive will be filled with blinking lights, giant warning notices from the heads displays, tugging on the steering wheel and vibrations in the seats. Just rolling up to a stop light triggers the forward collision alerts. A car pulling up next to you triggers the blindspot sensors, easing around a parked car on the side of the road brings vibrations in the seat and tugs on the steering wheel. The Blazer is terrified of daily driving.
ОтветитьIt's an electric car and you didn't talk about charging at all.... Way big miss by your "car reviewer" bas job.
ОтветитьI will check out the 2026. By then they will fix any of the bugs that pop up. I like the idea of the Ultium battery system but I want more. 400+ mile range, AWD, and apple carplay.
ОтветитьOEMs are call wagons and minivans SUVs 😂. And what is the obsession with big wheels. How about 17-18 inch wheels? Would ride much nicer without paying for adaptive dampers.
ОтветитьHow far does it go on the freeway at 70 MPH? That is what is most important to me, I haven’t found any 300+ miles BEV’s that do more than 200 miles, so you end up driving for 3 hours and charging for 1 or 2 hours if you end up at a 50 kWh charger. I am disappointed in BEV road trips.
ОтветитьI literally do not miss CarPlay in my Blazer EV. Enough of this nonsense about it.
ОтветитьA very matter of fact and very good review without the snide remarks. Funnily my problem with the Blazer EV isn't AA and Apple Carplay, I don't need those and I am an Android user anyway, but for the money and being a EV it should be quicker and the front seating comfort based on multiple reviewers leaves a lot to be desired. That said those who own Blazers love it a lot.
ОтветитьI purchased the 2LT a month ago, I am indeed concerned with the charge door breaking at the most inopportune moment! What is
Apple CarPlay?😉 I haven't missed it so far.
The whole apple car play and android auto is moot and stupid for many reasons, for one android market share is about 70% VS about 35% for apple, apple just seems like it is more important and greater because you are talking about one company that controls everything vs one that lets multiple companies use their os, secondary Google has admitted that they are moving away from Android auto at some point in favor of more native software platforms in the cars, the only reason to have deep phone integration is text messages and that is a distraction while driving, besides the use of Google os in the car paired with a android phone will solve all that
For Apple people, ask apple to create a auto os that car manufacturers will use, stop complaining when Apple phones and computers are less than 35% of all the phones and computers sold
If Apple had a larger market share, car companies would use Apple instead of Google
I never use car play in my 2500 hd I prefer chevys nav system cuz Apple Maps suck and I use the native Spotify app for music car play very over rated unless your car doesn’t have maps and music natively
ОтветитьRidiculous review. Anyone that would buy a car soley on Apple CarPlay is a maroon.
ОтветитьI hate Google. Always have. If GM wants my money they need to bring Apple CarPlay back or I’m moving to Honda, Toyota, or Ford.
ОтветитьA few things that are either missing in your review or are incorrect.
1.) It also doesn’t have android auto either. You only mentioned CarPlay.
2.) Mary Barra has stated OFFICIALLY that the reason why they don’t have CarPlay or android auto is because they deem them a “distraction”. That however is bullshit and no one believes that in the slightest.
3.) Wagons are gone and have been for decades now. Good riddance.
Aaron you’re a great reviewer but you need to lose some serious weight, fast.
You sound out of breath when you talk.
It’s also not a Lyriq. Diff chassis and dimensions.
I traded my Tesla Model Y for a Blazer EV RS AWD, exactly like the one reviewed. I'm also an Apple person and I honestly do not miss CarPlay. The Google system works just fine. I can still play music from my phone via Bluetooth. There isn't much that I can't do that needs to have CarPlay. My Blazer is leaps and bounds more solid feeling than the Tesla, and the build quality is far superior. Sure, the seats are a little flatter, but I've driven my car on 4-5 hour trips and it was not uncomfortable at all. Now that the Tesa superchargers are available to Chevrolet vehicles, I'm even less worried about range (not that I was ever worried in the first place). Speaking of range, when I pull up a 100% charge range, it states I could get 338 miles . I know that no car gets their full range potential, but it just indicates to me that the 279 claimed miles does not seem far-fetched either. I never got anywhere near that on the Tesla. I also had a VW ID.4 - it was a lemon. I have not regretted for one second trading for my Blazer EV!
ОтветитьI have an Android so I could really care less if it has Carplay tbh. I kind of like that Android automotive is being used.
ОтветитьUgh!...that black gloss exterior Trim is ugly as hell....just go with body colour !
