Don’t overcomplicate the uphill/downhill thing, if you truly know something, you can explain it to a 10 year old. When people say, “oh it’s geometry,” they’re trying to scare you away from testing their own understanding:

-A target is 10 feet in front of you uphill, in 100 rolls, you will inevitably roll the ball short of the target every so often, in those rolls you have a 0% chance to hit it.

-Now envision a target 10 feet in front of you downhill, gravity will always carry the ball past the target 100/100 times, you’ll never be short therefore you have a higher chance of hitting the target.
