Other than interstellar dust particles, the only confirmed interstellar objects that have
entered our solar system are asteroid 1I/‘Oumuamua and comet 2I/Borisov, observed
in 2017 and 2019, respectively. In the past, it was believed that the meteoroid population
with hyperbolic orbits calculated from meteor observations also originated outside
our solar system. However, these hyperbolic orbits are now mostly considered to be
the result of errors. Moreover, the percentage of hyperbolic orbits in modern databases
is lower than in older ones due to increased accuracy of measurements.

Although some hyperbolic orbits in various databases might be truly interstellar in origin,
there has yet to be a unanimously accepted case of a suggested interstellar meteoroid.
In our talk, we will examine several cases from selected databases, their quality,
and the hyperbolic orbits within them, to explore the difficulties in identifying a hypothetical
interstellar population.
