Vanuatu Earthquake Update; Major M7.3 Quake Strikes Capital, Tsunami Triggered

A major earthquake just struck Vanuatu's capital city, causing extensive damage and even generating a tsunami. Registering in as a magnitude 7.3, it lasted for nearly 30 seconds, causing several buildings to collapse and possibly becoming the nation's single deadliest historical earthquake. So, why did this earthquake occur, and what aftershocks might happen next?
