Stronger on the puck, yea probably. Better overall, nah.
Datsyuk is better overall but Kovalev has better hands.
How so?
On the first part: By who ? Do they use any metrics to mesure someone's hands skills ? I don't think. And why are you telling me that 2nd part, I only said that he had better hands, that's it. Sure Datsyuk is a better and faster skater that's why his goals are more impressive. Kovalev has better hands as in the way he can control the puck, look at ASGs footage, you'll see, or watch his DVDs. Datsyuk uses his more effectively, but from a pure skill standpoint, Kovalev has better hands.
4 on TSN's list of the top 10 most skilled hockey players in history
Those who played with Kovalev all say he's the most talented player they ever seen. Even the Russian players share that view over Datsyuk (Kovalchuk, Malkin, Ovechkin). Datsyuk has got moves whereas Kovalev is an old-fashion stickhandler. I have never seen someone handle the puck through traffic like Kovalev, and don't get me wrong i'm a fan of Datsyuk.
Ответитьkovalev is better than datsyuk in his prime when he actually tries; the difference between those 2 is that datsyuk still has the motivation kovalev doesnt but if he did im pretty sure he can go toe to toe with datsyuk and probably win.
Kovalev is more skilled. TSN put Kovalev at #4 on the list of the most skilled hockey players of all time. He is only under Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Orr, and Mario Lemieux. Where is Datsyuk on the list? #10.
Okay, here is something all Kovalev and Datsyuk lovers can agree on. Russian hockey players are amazing.
Amazing Stick Skills wow......AK27 is awesome
Kovalev is the best he should sign with Montréal again
THE Artist
Good memories. The way he maneuvered around the ice and seemed to create his own space and then let his wrist shot go, so smooth, it looked effortless.
ONE OF MY IDOLS IS ALEXEI KOVALEV

Disliked for white skates and flop
Ответитьhe reminds me of myself when i played sports. especially soccer and hockey. some games so dominant with such a display of raw talent and then other games just wasnt able to make a mark. obviously im in no stretch of the imagination in the same league as an nhl legend like kovalev but watching him made me okay with the fact that you can be remembered for having amazing skill minus the overall great career with mvps cups rings etc.
This dude was so skilled. He was as good as Datsyuk but Pavel had the better work ethic and benefited from playing on a 1st place team his entire career pretty much.
Shame he was lazy. Best puck handler to ever play the game of hockey.
If Kovalev wasn't on the 94' Rangers I'd still hear 1940!!!
I miss him...hope he is doing well
Amazing, someone mentioned it....
He was an artist.
The greatest skills hands in the worlds better then Crosby and Ovechkin about hands skills.
The most skilled hockey player to not be introduced into the nhl ball of fame.
This guy was a BEAST in Montreal - the city loved him but haters such as Carbonneau , Gainey along with the ownership let him go to Ottawa over 500k shameless people - just to sign up an enforcer for 3.5M - bad calls are the reason todays young HABS couldn't learn from the real PRO for a couple more seasons. never watched them again - SH!TTERS.
Man, I miss him with the Habs. What a great period that was as a fan.
