Would be awesome if actually you could knock over the sides and front of cabinets, to actually check for the resonsnce/ absortion amohnt on the cabinets
ОтветитьI think the newer inp Kali is flatter within 3db, but it also has a pronounced bass up to 100k, which is putting me off. But this one doesn't seem to go as low either.
Inqinder why KrK hasn't updated this one.
Hello I just found your videos and reviews, I have a question: I am looking for a pair of monitors for mixing my own music so I was wondering what pair of monitors should i get: Adam audio t5v/t7v , KRK rokit 5 g5 or Focal alpha 65 evo? Thank you for what are you doing!
ОтветитьJust what I wanted to hear. Thanks for an informative and honest review.
ОтветитьCan't wait to see the review of Gen 5
ОтветитьThat's the first proper speakers I owned. I honestly was impressed with them, so much so that I decided to return them and save for something bigger and more impressive. I bought Focal Aria 926 and paired it with Exposure 2010s2 but I couldn't get the same level of impressive sound despite the components being "audiophile" grade and the speakers being of tower design. I was only able to approach the same level of depth when I upgraded my amplifier to Exposure 3010S2. What I am trying to tell, if you look for a decent pair of bookshelf speakers for your desktop - these are beauties for affordable price.
ОтветитьI bought the rp5g4s and use your PEQ setting which I agree rounds things off a bit. Thanks for all your expertise on so so many products.
I have one question related to what you said about the volume levels and when distortion arrives.
I have these set up in a 3 metre triangle in a 5x5 room. I have another (5x10 with stone backwall and sloping ceiling) room in my house where they sound much better with a 4x4 listening triangle, but go too eadily into the distorted area because I guess they need to be pushed past their limit.
Would buying two more rp5g4s qive me the volume I need without going into distortion, and if so, what position do you recommend to the 'twin'?
Sorry if this is an ignorant question - but I'm ignorant.
Yeah I felt krks had boosted/harsh highs, also wasn't a fan of the static noise/hiss at idle
Ответитьhello, I tried the eq notch and like the way it sounds! Now I just have to find a way to use it without disturbing the balance of my mix out of the DAW, the video was helpful thanks!
ОтветитьThanks for the detailed review.
One thing I wanted to know is if you have taken any kind of latency measurement of these speakers.
Thanks again!
I'm so happy i came across your channel before buying my next set of speakers. thank you for such a detailed review
ОтветитьThat's interesting that you mention temperature, as for me sound behaves different according to room temperature.. like recording in the summer when it's hot out and the room is hot with all the gear on way different response (I found better, faster, bass carries stronger) than recording winter time trying to keep the room warm enough.
Ответитьhello Amir,
I have a pair of ROKIT 5 G4 speaker for few months now, which I got for my Yamaha PSR-SX700 keyboard. Before that, I sometimes attached keyboard to my Yamaha receiver and listened on JBL HLS810 speakers (sounds great!). But because that's kinda unpractical for me, I decided to get smaller monitors -I tell that, so you know a bit of my background.
KRK says frequency response is 43Hz-40kHz and that's it: supposedly, 5" KRK is better than my 8" JBL?! I notice that such practice (incomplete/deceiving specs) has become a norm nowadays. I'm sure manufacturers do have complete/usable data available, however they prefer to treat customers as idiots. I have some (hobby) experience with loudspeakers and so, when I decided for ROKIT 5, I knew that specified frequency range can't be "real". But I bought them anyway (I needed something small) and I got what I was assuming.
And your review confirms that perfectly!
ROKIT 5 sounds good, but there isn't going on much at frequencies below 50Hz and so a big part of lowest octave (33-62Hz) is lost. In short, now I'm looking for a subwoofer and I am deciding between KRK S8G4 and S10G4 -waiting mainly because of incomplete data. S10G4 seems to be a safe bet, but as is usually the case, I wish the smallest that's "good enough" and price also plays an important role. There are other brands, but I like KRK because the cutoff frequency is also applied to output connectors. Means, I could keep low frequency distortions on ROKIT 5 under control -by setting crossover frequency higher than 50Hz.
Sadly, nowhere I could find KLIPPEL data for KRK subwoofers and I can only rely on "luck" -and I don't like that.
Thank you very much for the content you provide!!
Bogdan
So... reputable content creators don't mention that there's a hiss in these... at all. I don't understand the disconnect between some people's videos and yours or Z Review's. Some people's G4s have a nasty white noise in their tweeter but you, probably the most reputable of measurement gurus, don't mention a hiss at all. Do these speakers actually hiss? I'm seriously considering building a huge Atmos system comprised entirely of the Rokit 10-3 loudspeakers. Seems like they're a value you just can't beat with good cinema SPL.
ОтветитьYou’ve done great work here. Thx!
ОтветитьThanks for an excellent, well-informed review.
ОтветитьExcellent review!
ОтветитьAmir, Please setup an Amazon affiliate link for purchases! This information is very valuable and I would love for you to have some credit for the purchases that people end up making from your reviews! Thanks again!
ОтветитьI just heard that these particular models have an overheating problem and they shut off or go on standby. Have you experienced anything like that?
Ответитьimpressive thanks a lot my question is this works also with Krk 7 g4 !
thx again
Is it possible to put them on a wall mount?
ОтветитьTremendous work. Thanks.
ОтветитьEy, you're the dude i keep watching the reviews of on almost literally everything on the market, lol, nice work. :D
ОтветитьI wanted yahamas but got these and I’m not disappointed. I listen to every genre and these bump too!
ОтветитьI usually dont like watching these kinds of videos but I got sad when the video ended :( one of the best reviews I’ve seen and I’m glad I got the G4s
ОтветитьI could legit listen to you talking all day. I'm sitting in my car and working on the sound system and instead of blasting Techno I'm playing the soothing voice of my current favorite scientist Amir. Please keep talking and keep making videos.
I found you when I decided to look into PS Audio equipment. Was also looking for some test proven budget equipment and both times you came up.
Appreciate it. Donation sent.
I first heard these at a friends house who is an audio engineer I heard the first version and I really was impressed then I asked him how much and I couldn’t believe an affordable speaker can sound so good.
ОтветитьHello Amir! I came here from audiosciencereview, I love your reviews! I would like to ask your advice, I have a budget that is enough to buy the JBL 305, these Rokit krk 5 and the Yamaha HS5. Unfortunately in my country the Adam T5Vs are very expensive and are out of my budget. If you had to choose one of the three, to mix and master electronic music, which one would you choose? :)
ОтветитьDang, I was looking into Yamaha HS7 and Adam T7V but... this review has made me think that these even cheaper monitors might actually do the trick for me. What to dooooo?
ОтветитьTannoy gold 5 is very powerfull monitor. way more than krk. maybe it get less distortion ?
ОтветитьI added the PEQ adjustments just as you did, I couldn't reliably detect the difference, but then I don't turn them up that loud, they're less than a metre from my ears.
ОтветитьAmir, what is the likely effect on floor response if the units are sat on the foam baes on a large desk, angle slightly upwards? I was pleasantly surprised by two things when I got them, how good the bass sounded (I just used a crude test of a dB meter and a sine wave generator and eyeballed it, probably large uncertainty involved but at least an indication of validating what I was hearing, and also how good they sound off axis.
ОтветитьHey Amir, is it possible to make a review on Presonus Eris E 5? not the XT. Thank you.
ОтветитьThe only question that matters (and i don't see anyone doing it)is when you put it in your room and adjust it using your phone, and you master a song with those settings, will it sound good in the car and any other stereo. That is the golden question, because that is the whole idea of this speaker's EQ.
ОтветитьHi! Nice technical review! Could you give me your insight if this is compared with the Kanto PU6 in terms of sound quality
ОтветитьWow, what a wonderful review! I was looking for an inexpensive aramid composite kevlar monitor to pair with a 10" Glass aramid composite Woofer, and Googling "krk rokit 5 g4 frequency response curve" popped up your article and then this wonderful analysis and knowledgeable review. I'm sold. Room EQ wizard and the $25 Behringer condenser reference mic, paired with the PEACE EQ will mean an inexpensive yet totally accurate mixing (and listening) setup.
ОтветитьExcellent review, Amir. Very helpful. Thank you!!
Ответитьas a producer/engineer, this is by far the best speaker review format! thank you, Amir!
ОтветитьDarn your presentation was clear! Not saying I understood all the tech aspects, but it made me subscribe, so I guess you nailed it! :D
ОтветитьThis is off the subject. Denafrips DACs, are you going to review one or all or none. Your opinion matters as you address the science others overlook. It’s up to you of course. I bought the Hidizs S9 on your recommendation. It’s high on your list and that matters. The Apogee Groove is also a consideration. Have you ever heard ProAc EBT(speakers)? What do you think? Would you consider auditioning a pair? You are a no nonsense guy. What audio gear makes your ears sing?
ОтветитьReally appreciate this review. Scientific and expert; thank you.
ОтветитьI thought these speakers sounded great. My only (big) complaint was how early they begin to distort. I was hoping they could replace my RP6 G2's as I'm trying to downsize my setup.
ОтветитьPlain-speak explanation? FINALLY. I LOVE IT!!!!
ОтветитьThis guy is awesome. That is all.
ОтветитьHello Amir, really detailed and clear review. I am thinking of buying these speakers and I am wondering which DAC do you recommend for them? I would use them as a 2.0 system for my PC and I would love to hear your opinion.
Also, I'm interested in whether the KRK RP7 is better than these and whether the buzzing is more noticeable with them, considering that the speakers will be on the table, and I don't want that to be unbearable.
Thanks for your time and all the best.
Amazing, as always
ОтветитьCan you compare these to the Presonus Eris E5 XT's? From what I can tell listening to Digital Stereography's video they sound very similar through my Senny HD 560S. What do you think? Is there a chance?
ОтветитьThank you for making this!
ОтветитьSome reviews start and end with "these speakers are dope!" This intelligent scientific analysis is most welcome and ultimately leads me to conclude "these speakers are dope!"
ОтветитьThank you Amir for this very comprehensive video review. I'm in the market for some monitors and you really gave practical and good information about these.
