Forest City and the likes of similar Projects were killed by THE SCUM Dr Mahatir because of his greed. He revoked that those Overseas owners who invested were illegal and they had to pay S$100000 before recognizing their purchases.

The Forest City was actually good for Malaysia. Money from China . Attract people from China to stay n spend money on education, entertainment n setting up various businesses. The main problem is that politicians use this project as an easy target to discredit the government . Racial factor, fear of foreigners and accusation of corruption. Even silly reasons like the locals can't afford to stay there. The project was to attract the China people to buy the property and to spend money in Malaysia. The final straw was Mahatir calling residents of Forest city monkeys . This was reported widely in China. Politics n flip flop policy of the government is a big problem . They cannot see the long term benefit to Johor .

why dont you start with "Malaysia Boleh 2020" again coined by mahatir who is known to be the 10% commission for any and all projects approved by his govt. then why dont you do an expose' on mahatir set up his sons to benefit from the govt contracts. Dont stop at that do another expose' on najib 1MDB. What happened the fantasy of Multimedia super corridor??? what happened to the hi speed rail between bangkok and singpore. Oh what happened to CyberJaya??? if you have time i have more to list but i think i stop here. many of these were brain child of mahatir but he was the one who siphoned billions into his own pocket because for every approval he pockets 10%

No way in the world will Malaysia via Forest City ever become a global financial center to rival Singapore, let alone Hong Kong. In fact Malaysia can't even rival Sydney. Not that Sydney, which once thought of becoming a regional financial center, lost its mojo. Look at Labuan, which was once hailed as a regional financial center. Nobody in recent years ever mentions Labuan. Anwar Ibrahim is kowtowing to the king who was the Johor sultan and who owns a huge stake in Forest City. And he stands to lose a huge chunk of his wealth over the implosion of Forest City. And it will implode, if it hasn't already. Why is Anwar kowtowing to the king of Malaysia? The last king (now sultan of Pahang) chose Anwar to be PM after his party PKR votes by the skin of its teeth and not without forging a coalition with the predominantly Chinese party DAP. The second reason is the relatively new king is keeping Anwar in power because Anwar, desperate to cement his political legitimacy, especially among skeptical Malays, is pliable or malleable to pressure. This king will protect Anwar from being challenged within his own party and coalition, and from without. Another reason is Anwar is desperate to score runs amongst Malays, so his promise that this project will generate thousands of new jobs is underscored by the old racialist bias that Malays will garner these jobs. Now he looks in danger of not fulfilling this caper, and that will further undermine his desperate lack of political legitimacy. His next move is to try to lure foreign investments into establish a whole bunch of energy-hungry data centers. Here's the problem with this pie-in-the-sky nonsense from Anwar, and it is related to his attempt to win political legitimacy: one is that there aren't enough Malays, let alone "Malaysians" educated and skilled enough to work in these data centers, which leads to the next related problem: Anwar will have to do what Singapore has done -- lure foreign talent to work in these data centers. Which means Anwar will have to offer the imported talent huge incentives, such as tax-free holidays while locals pay their taxes. In other words, locals will be subsidizing foreigners who will enjoy tax-free working lives. So far as I know, from local sources, foreign talent has not shown any interest in moving to Johor. And Singaporeans can easily travel to Johor for relatively cheap shopping and buy land and home, as they've been doing for decades. But that doesn't means Singaporeans are living in Johor in droves. Why would they when Anwar still enables state racist policies on behalf of the Malays that was inaugurated in 1970 and the miserably-failed New Economic Policy? Anwar is, as Malaysians like to say, a fervent 'kite flyer'. He wants to cement his legacy as Malaysia's best PM -- ever; that Malaysia will not progress without his leadership. So where is his "leadership" on his wild and woolly promises of real reforms? They're non-existent. In fact he has killed them off. It's not REFORMASI anymore but REFORMATI -- courtesy of the desperate Anwar Ibrahim, who lives and operates in the shadow of the king.

Sooner it will become another white elephant. No office and commercial buildings. Mostly residential. Do Malaysia think that the Singapore government would knock their heads with their own balls? Maybe it is possible as most of the Ministers are old and going senile .
