I’m about 13 min in, and I HAD to stop and comment because this is so authentic 💜. Thank you for sharing and showing up authentically for this video. Being an Empath is overwhelming, being a woman is overwhelming, putting yourself out there in the world is overwhelming, clothes are overwhelming, body concerns are overwhelming- and talking about it all is extremely overwhelming, BUT- it’s also a part of this very human journey that we’re all on! It’s okay to be overwhelmed and talk about it. In fact, it’s probably the best way for us to help each other and ourselves- by just being honest and sharing. So again, THANK YOU for showing up for yourself this way, and for us. I appreciate you and I send huge comforting hugs your way, and to anyone else who needs it!

I keep the tag on everything too until I wear it. Also I found I kept buying cute clothes and outfits for the “right occasion” and then would never end up wearing them. I recently had to tell myself to wear the clothes even if to the grocery of something not that exciting. Also sparky is such a great support system for you. You’re doing great Alex. I can to relate to this video ❤

I especially liked the conversation around personal identity when your work involves selling brand identities through appearance/dress. And the reclined clothes pile sorting at the end - I've been there! Haha.

OMG I am the same way. I had so many nice new things that I didn’t want to ruin so I wouldn’t use them that includes clothing make up purses shoes. So now I have a closet of things that were never worn that were nice under either out of style or like the make up is so old I can’t even use it anymore. It’s crazy all the money spent on those nice things that I didn’t give myself the permission to use. There’s gotta be some sort of diagnosis for this. I am definitely trying to be better about it and use the things. I like. Tell myself I deserve to use them and enjoy them

Omg I feel your pain. Last year I cleaned out my closet and it was PERFECT …for a hot minute. Piles of stuff everywhere, I am overwhelmed. With me I know it is psychological. I lost 150 lbs 30 years ago and then had a baby, and with work and responsibilities I had a limited amount of time and money to buy clothes. Then, money loosened up and my shopping addiction blossomed! The thing is, I looooove my wardrobe, I love the colors, I love making up outfits, and I have a huge Pinterest file. But I am so overwhelmed I can’t really wear my outfits because there is too much, too many decisions. And the guilt at the abundance of it all when most of my life I had so little. I donate a lot to compensate…we need to be gentle with ourselves…we are worthy…we are enough. I keep telling myself that! PS, thanks for the incentive to not give up!

On feeling like you’ll go without if you get rid of something, the thing is: if you can’t find it in the house when you do need it, or if it doesn’t fit or feel good on, then really you don’t have it now.

That placeholder can go because realistically if that need turns out to be real, you’ll have to get creative or get something new at that point. Remembering that helps me a lot, especially when it comes to being tempted to keep more than I can easily find when I need to. And as a girl who has to keep a costume closet as part of my job but who lives in a tiny apartment, this is something I have to think about alot.

Great job on your closet. I only can afford a very small wardrobe. I try to only buy the things I love ❤ I currently have 1 pair of jeans and hope to buy 1 more. I think you are growing and learning clothes are just things. Budgeting what you spend will bring you to your goal of getting a home and building a life with Sparky.
