Lindsey Buckingham vibes
Ответить52 for sure!
ОтветитьWhat do you think about Blue chip Picks?????? Please give us your 2 cents!
Ответить52! but I it could just be my eyes. :)
ОтветитьYou used algebra to count how many the 16 bags of mulch will cost you. :)
ОтветитьYou recon Guthrie has signed up for the 50% off on the course 🤫
ОтветитьYou use algebra to calculate the roof pitch when you build your shed
ОтветитьI'm pretty sure the Session Man is a guitar for someone who wants a Les Paul but only has five grand. 😂 Used, maybe 3,600. Still incredible guitars all the Duesenberg stuff.
ОтветитьKorina for me, acoustically….
ОтветитьI think i favored the '52 as much as i was hoping I'd prefer the '55. I've been trying to get better at those chord changes ever since you did that in a previous episode. It's a great exercise.
ОтветитьI have a 2004 Standard. Acoustically it is incredible. Just resonates for ages with each chord. UN-chambered I believe. I have heard that early 2000;s are pretty good. Could be all BS but I think I got a good one.
ОтветитьAlgebra and calculus is necessary to make that hellcat our! The 58 sounded better acoustically!
ОтветитьThe ‘58 gets it from here.
Ответить58
ОтветитьAll 3 sound great but the 58 Special jangles. It gets my vote.
Ответить52 for me.
ОтветитьFirst of all.... great lick, with the harmonizing.
Secondly, algebra in it's most basic form is taking things that we know, and using them to figure out the thing or things that we don't know. It is a great tool to approach any problem, even non-mathematical ones.
Several times in my life, I have found myself saying "Okay...I know ______. I also know _____. What I DON'T know is _____. Once I know THAT, I'll be able to decide what to do...."
I am the same awesome street math guy but not good with calculus and algebra
ОтветитьWhat would you ever use music theory for in real life besides playing music?
You wouldn't need to understand algebra when buying a coffee at the co-op just like you wouldn't need to understand how to play the guitar to buy a coffee at a co-op. That doesn't mean either one of those things aren't useful. It's a skill that makes scientific discovery and engineering possible. Roland certainly used some linear algebra when designing that JC-120.
Such a great guy Uncle Larry is the best 🙏
ОтветитьI like them wangulation devices….!
ОтветитьHello Tom, the 55, all day long, BTW, I have just re -- discovered the band Camel, specifically, the flight of the snow goose album, the solo's on "Rhayader goes to town" are really melodic rather than flash, what would you say are your top 5 melodic solos and why, been here since No 1, thank you for a great channel.
Ответитьthe difference in those 3 les pauls is mostly the hardware - tunomatic parts and tuners - having spent years with vintage and modern TOM parts. one can completely change/benefit/ruin any guitar - the tom itself has 8 different 'parts' from the support poles, inserts, bridge, bridge saddle, thumbwheel, screws etc. Changing one changes the tone. Some more than others. Change a couple or a few and you can start to radically change the 'guitar'. These 3 being all vintage , are similar but i'll bet there is metallurgy difference even with the decade span. Forget about modern pot metals which are a mess , inconsistent, and non toney ime. I like the 60's steel tom parts and then again in the 80's 90's you can find okay parts. small print made in germany bridges only. for whatever reasons, the larg print made in germany parts - while preferable to modern generally - dont sound the same as the small print. This topic is a well i've dove in and more should spend hundred or more hours experimenting with all the tom parts and on diff guitars - you will discover the least talked about, most potent area for guitar change. I used to be an 'its all in the wood guy'. now it's all about the bridge - wood still matters however -then tuners: heavy vs light - heavy steals away some mids for more top and percussive qualities where vintage lights are bass cut , top rolled and mid forward - broad mid. heavy grovers (prefer whatever metal they use) - still has mids but its punchier and not as broad/even as a light weight tuner. tuners are a distant 2nd to tom parts however, in what they do to the tone----and then there's setup you seem to like all your guitars low action and same/similar setup? iv so, it wouldn't account for the difference here in those 3, but a different setup will radically change a guitar, similar (but still not as drastically as TOM parts), and one could attach that difference to the wood, when in fact it's setup/ action, intonation, how the saddles and nut are cut, and tuning . god help those who dont' know how to tune and rely on a tuner-- as each guitar and the song one is playing needs tuning adjust - again, how one tunes radically changes a guitar - i tend to tune and the guitar sounds fat and creamy like old zz or mick ralphs whereas a straight tuner tuned setup will not yield this - I tune to the tune, whatever main riff are chords that dominate dictate the microtuning needed for that tune. Again you probably have 'same' tuning in these 3 axes , so doesn't apply here. but is added to emphasize another factor than makes a guitar what it is, and reduces the wood factor
The ‘52
ОтветитьMuch agreed about pistachios!
Ответитьbeginning into really needed ya
ОтветитьI hated algebra for the very reason you mention. What the hell would I ever need it for? However, once I started building houses and other structures, I realized that geometry and algebra II (analytical geometry) was super useful. Not necessary, but could come in very handy on a complex building. Then I went back to school and re-took all my math in college.

Ответитьwondering, did Uncle Larry ever get to hear Hedges? Please ask him for me...that Hatari sound brings him back to mind.
ОтветитьWhy don’t you like the double cut~away Les Paul Special but you like the single cut away? Just curious….thanks
Ответить1958
ОтветитьMan I wish I could find a session man for 2K.
ОтветитьThat 58 was my favourite of the bunch!
But the real question is how many T-shirts you own? It must be a hundred at least! 😅
I know Guildans are not your favourits, but which one is the number one?
Thanx for the amazing show through all these years.

Ответить“Common people” are also computer programmers. 🫤 Creating algorithms with missing variables (that get supplied as input and solve rationally) is bread and butter ‘common man’ work today, frankly.
ОтветитьIn a word, yes.
Ответить"Street meth" - is that the meth they sell directly on the streets?
Ответить1958 LP Special.
ОтветитьI like the ‘58 by a wide margin. Beautifully “open” and clear. 🥰
Ответить58 for mw
ОтветитьYeah... probably should've kept that JC-120 too, but you know.🤪
Ответитьgot the 404 error ."page not found"
ОтветитьYou must've mentioned Skyline Motel at some point in the past because I've been obsessed with "The Language of Love" for a few years now. Reminds me of Fleetwood Mac a bit. Great album, but that song is the one that sticks with me. Really cool guitar on it, too.
ОтветитьLOVE the long pauses as we consider some others' bonehead remarks. .......... ;-)
ОтветитьThe special fo sho
ОтветитьYou probably use a lot of algebra every day and don't really realize it. Because the stuff you use it for never shows up looking like a textbook algebra problem. It's always stuff like when you're buying mulch at Home Depot and you're comparing cost-per-unit of one brand against another. Or if you're figuring up whether you'd be better off financially to stay in town and work sessions versus going out on a tour. In fact, your street math probably has a lot of algebra built-in! Great video as always!
ОтветитьGreat stuff in class, teach! Love that amp and my choice is the 58. I liked its mids. But this is all subjective. They were all 3 epic. And you are right about the bank 4 buck down at Uncle Larry's Get-A-Load-Of-This-Shit extravaganza!
ОтветитьI got in a Facebook debate. Someone says a Les Paul and SG sound the same coming out of an amp if they both have the same pickups. I think even with the same pickups, an SG sounds more mid focused and thinner, due to the thinner body and all mahogany wood. He says that’s all in my head. Who’s right?
ОтветитьVCB dude asked how to spend 2k and get a Les Paul vibe? I got a used 2021 Wildwood Gibson LP, stunning burst, for 2100 including shipping. Duesenberg Session Man is a great option too...
ОтветитьMan that gus is so creepy.. got tal floating around in the background on a short. This everybody has a TV show is an interesting experiment...
