seeing anyone of legendary caliber as Julie Kent, review their craft with such openness, honesty, passion, and excitement is so awesome. I loved it. Thanks JK and VF :)
ОтветитьI kinda really wish they could've slipped the Mistake Waltz in there XD
ОтветитьCenter stage is one of my very favorite movie!!
ОтветитьThey couldn’t of added Center Stage ? Lol She was in it !
ОтветитьThey couldn’t of added Center Stage for her to review lol 😂
ОтветитьAwwwwww, no original Suspiria?!
ОтветитьGreat to listen to this! Thank you 🙏🏽
ОтветитьWasn't she on Centerstage? The best ballet movie ever?
ОтветитьShe speaks french well I think.
ОтветитьCenter Stage is a cheesy teen dance film, but there are several things good about it. One of course is the dancing scenes. But it's also cool that the "villains" are pretty mild and realistic, as opposed to archdevils and ferocious psychos. Cooper isn't a bad guy really, just a tad insensitive at times.
ОтветитьIf you do a part 2 could you have a look at Step Up please with Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan. I really enjoyed this.
ОтветитьColl desk. I want the same !
ОтветитьWould have loved to see her opinion of the movie "Dancers" 1987ish.
ОтветитьI dont know anything about ballet and this left me really exited about all the movies of this list I hadn't already watched. They look really wonderful, all of this was truly a joy to learn about
ОтветитьTHAT WAS SERGEI POLUNIN?????
ОтветитьWith Mao i see the brush writing in his movements
ОтветитьThe Red Shoes. Be still my heart. One of the most gorgeous movies ever made.
ОтветитьI'm blessed to have grown up in Houston with the benefit of seeing Li dance in person. He even performed for the Regional Dance Association Gala one year and at the after party, got out on the dance floor to do the hokey pokey with all of us along with his wife and kids!
ОтветитьI LOVE Center stage, its very good. Makes me wanna dance
ОтветитьOooooo she's in Centrestage
ОтветитьHave not started this, it just showed up in my feed, but I am here for Billy Elliot. Loved that movie.
ОтветитьI get it yet also to be a professional dancers doesn't need the word just in front of it! Yes they did not get their description correct but all of you professional dancers out there don't just yourself.
ОтветитьOh, I am ASHAMED it took me until Center Stage to realize she was the same dancer who was in it! (Yes, I am uncultured swine who doesn't follow professional ballet, especially not in the USA where I don't live, but I took ballet lessons for fun my whole childhood and loved that dumb movie.)
ОтветитьCenter Stage is my guilty pleasure.
ОтветитьWow, she looks not a second older than she did in "Centre Stage". What an amazing dancer. Such a shame they retire so early.
ОтветитьThat was Kathleen Donahue, wasn’t it??
ОтветитьI'm so tickled to see Julie giving her input🥰
ОтветитьIs it bad that when she said "The Red Shoes" my mind went to Deku? Probably.
ОтветитьBilly Elliot is such a gem of a movie. How can one not love it.
Ответитьjesus she is gorgeous now and then
ОтветитьSuch a great artist! Just a small correction: the real location in white nights was the Lisbon São Carlos theater, even though they claim it's the Bolshoi.
ОтветитьRight, she didn't need to watch those clips, she already knew every ballet-related movie out there. And she consulted and starred in those movies, her expertise is levels above the usual 'expert reviewers'.
ОтветитьThank you all commentariat and VF for introducing me to Julie Kent
ОтветитьLoved her in Center Stage! My absolute favorite movie!!
ОтветитьSave the last dance never struck me as particularly ballet
ОтветитьI adore Julie Kent and I love how she enjoys every movie on some level instead of just hating them all
ОтветитьJulie Kent's Le Corsaire is simply amazing! She is so beautiful and delicate... Just lovely
ОтветитьyUCK!
ОтветитьOf course Chi Cao is realistic, he was a principal dancer with Birmingham Royal Ballet for 16 years and partnered with Nao Sakuma for a lot of that time. He’s incredible.
ОтветитьLOVE YA, JULIE!!!
ОтветитьI thoroughly enjoyed this commentary! I love ballet, and when ballet meets film, there is so much more than dancing for the dancers, and so much more than filming for the directors. It's an art in and of itself, and far richer than just dancing or just movies alone. Now i have to go watch The Red Shoes again...
ОтветитьShe is so beautiful inside and out
ОтветитьI love save the last dance when she says OH NO ha we all think it
ОтветитьSave The Last Dance shouldn't be considered a dance movie ... Unless it's to warn people of terrible attempts at dancing.
ОтветитьI recognized her immediately and its not because of her ballet career but because of Centerstage in 2000 as Kathleen Donahue. She still looks incredible.
Ответитьthank you for crediting Sarah Lane! ♥ ♥
ОтветитьI came for the roast of "save the last dance", was not disappointed, and I'm leaving with way more knowledge. Thanks for the great vid
Ответить"Center Stage" is one of films that got me attending dozens of American Ballet Theater shows just so I could see Julie Kent and Ethan Stiefel perform; however, I bought the CD of ABT's "Swan Lake" and came to love so many other dancers in ABT, which eventually brought me to Misty Copeland. I've seen all my favorite ABT dancers perform. The film "The Company" w/Neve Campbell brought me to The Joffrey Ballet in Chicago, whom I also adore as much as ABT. If you love dance, these movies will make you love it more.
ОтветитьI used to be obsessed with julie❤ she's still just as beautiful
