Something to keep in mind when comparing to older Dragon Age games is that this is the first Dragon Age game with a day one release on Steam. Origins and DA2 didn't get PC ports until years after their initial releases on console and Inquisition was locked away on EA Origin until EA caved an realized that was a dead end that didn't improve their profit margins. So it's not all that surprising that it's doing better on Steam than any previous Dragon Age game. I think the thing that is more telling is comparing the concurrent player counts of BG3 that released over a year ago and has nearly the same concurrent players as Veilguard. Like I am not even suggesting that it should be expected to achieve the 800k+ of what BG3 peaked at but the fact that it's barely hedging out BG3 a year after release is just embarrassing. It might still sell enough copies to be a net profit for EA but claiming it's a rousing success is just them sticking their head in the sand and trying to pretend that the rest of the industry doesn't exist.

Success depend on how much they spent to make it. Graphics looks good I guess it depends on the gameplay loop

As for the preferred platform discussion Sony did miss the boat they should have been came out with something the same cost as a PC to give that performance That's why steam numbers are starting to beat them for third party games

I'm so far behind now I just wait until games drop below $40 before I buy. I don't care if there are trans, non-binary or straight characters. If the game is good great, if not, okay. I just don't care about rage culture. I'm not going to walk around all day pissed off that a game gave options to someone else. Especially with a game where you can have horns ffs! I've slowly been deleted channels that are just rage baiting.

The only number that matters 4.3 million copies sold... and that's supposing the game ONLY cost $100M to produce on the low end (though, likely higher). Anything less is an abject failure in EA's eyes.

I don't find the game appealing at all, the cartoonish artstyle, the 'foggy' and penumbrous environments, the dialogues seem to be childish and uninspired, the streamlined combat system, the total obliteration of the tactical elements and control of the companions, the linear and corridoresque gameplay... They basically slapped 'Dragon Age' on something that has nothing to do with the franchise, it's like if Ferrari made a new car and slapped their logo on it but when you look at it it's one of those tiny Korean cars...

The steam numbers will probably drop like a stone.

With the brand of Bioware and the name of Dragon age they should have been able to sell at least 5-6 million copies easy. I don't see this selling more than 500k which would be a flop considering they need between 4-5m in sells to break even.
