The main problem never mentioned in the story is the gravity difference. On Mars, you'd be less than half your weight as on earth. 100 lbs on Earth is only 38 lbs on Mars.

All he has to do is conquer Shai Hulud and drink the water of life. Then he can fold space and go home.

I am in agreement with Whatley about the disco music. However. I did have a lot of fun during the disco era. And hearing some of those songs do bring back some fond memories.

So, at the beginning of the movie, there's this massive wind storm, stuff blowing all over the place, but at the end, we're told the air is so thin, Watney can simply cover the top of his rocket ship with a tarp. So – is the air thick or thin?

This did NOT age well....

You couldn't keep the news from them anyway. Even assuming NASA censors family emails, they crew can no doubt can listen to Earth radio and TV stations which will be filled with news about it.

I was always put off by Teddy's decision but not warning the crew without more information actually makes sense - the idea that he MIGHT be alive but not certain that he is or isn't would surely stir up the crew.

If NASA sends a manned crew to Mars, one would think that the station NASA has them build on Mars would have an emergency transmitter which can send either an SOS, or a short text message about the astronaut's current situation. The thing about this movie is that Watney had plenty of manuals that he could read in order to make things work in his favor. One would think, at the least, that NASA scientists were thinking both inside as well as outside the box when they were building this habitat on Mars.

"I am definitely gonna die up here, if I have to listen to any more of Commander Lewis's god-awful disco music."

Sure, it takes a crew of several people into space and only one person carries music, that's real

That last line is the best of the entire movie. I would definitely off myself if all I had was disco music for the rest of my life.

I'd like a 3hour asmr version of the first 3 seconds and the previous scene where its just MacKenzie Davis looking at all the screens in mission control, love all the background noises and reflections in her glasses 👓 😊
