@VICTORGIRAFFE you got £5,000 i can borrow please? i need it for film school.
Ответить@mke1ms We like him a lot too!
Ответить@TheOliver68 No - we are killing US! The planet will ajust, and recalibrate to a new normal. WE will be gone!
Ответить@mynameismark25 tell me about it.
Ответитьworldwide one-child-policy is the least inhumane answer, no way to sugar coat it
Ответить@electricgenius -"hijacked .." but ruling class rule because they gave masses what they want. Naturally, we must be suspicious of SOLUTIONS that enrich someone else- e.g. Carbon Tax =power in hands of politicians. BUT, the enviro problems are REAL -we must solve for *Ourselves*. ; Green agenda is hijacked by many opposing sides "ecoNazis" want relocalization(nationalists) "ecoCommunists" want centralized solutions & global land reform "ecoCapitalists" (landowners) want poor to stop breeding
ОтветитьIMO odds on future carrying capacity:- >6billion -low (solve nuclear fusion) 6billion - low (its all a hoax) 2-6billion - high (peak oil) <2billion - low (worst MMGW predictions) until we get fusion, we should aim for half current numbers
Ответить@vinnypop Hahaha very amusing.
Ответитьalright kids u heard the man...its time to break out the bong smoke some weed and watch the world implode
ОтветитьSee novel about Gaia hypothesis see video book trailer
ОтветитьOk previously I said the host was a dipshit for something he said, but the more I watch he's actually a pretty darn cool guy and has some really interesting guests. My bad, apologies.
ОтветитьWatch Adam Curtis' latest doc to see why this guy full of it. Nice guy, but 'self-regulating' is bullshit.
ОтветитьThank the heavens for people such as this. Clear thinking, charming, personable, and informed.
Ответить@smurfieboo Because life causes the flux. He provided evidence that life, from giant trees down to even the smallest microbes, produce products that are either toxic or beneficial to the environment (not the planet, its environment). This is unstable (over the very long term) and creates a fluxuating system. As for gravity, type in Einstein's 'relativity of time'.
ОтветитьGiants were the offspring of Gia daugters of men and URANUS (sons of heaven) This fact is described in Gen.6 of the bible Bnoth adumah(daughters of men) and the Gborrim (mighty ones) who were also angels who were imprisoned for corrupting the earth and causing the flood of NOAH.
Ответитьjames lovelock is a fraud!
ОтветитьThere is no relationship between human race and global warming.
Ответить"Of course there is! I'm a scientist, and you can never be certain about anything!" How many gentleman are able to say this Nowadays? ;o)
Ответитьwe talk of going to mars and the moon! We will have to build habitats on our own planet for the few to survive. Could be quit nice i,m sure. The astronauts up there on the iss are drinking water that has been collected from the humidity and yes even there own waste.so as 1910 is very different than 2010, 2110 will be pods and land and water that populations live in. A honeybee may not be able to adapt in time but we can build what we need to survive, just not all 7 billion.
ОтветитьDid you even bother to research and really look at the whole interview? He never said global warming wasn't happening he said that some people were treating the environmental movement as a religion and that is all he said. Better research before you spout off about something you know so little about.
ОтветитьPlease Please show me where James Lovelock reversed all of his claims I'd love for you to illuminate me on that! If you have proof of this assertion I'd love to see it.
ОтветитьFunny how all the major scientific journals say otherwise. Of course you must know so much more than those stupid scientists who have all that data to back them up.
ОтветитьWe need a 1 child policy as a bare minimum! People who say its their right to have as many kids as they want are fucking ignorant morons.
Ответитьthat is an absurd statement, would you think the destruction of civilization a humane policy? population expansion is unsustainable.
Ответитьthe current population level is unsustainable - we only exist because of the extra energy of fossil fuels. either have the babies and they will eventually starve or die in resource-wars - or have fewer, and they get to live sustainably. What you're missin is that the existing growth is already "overshoot"
Ответитьnote that I mean a one child policy until the population is at a sustainable level (eg 2billion). Obviously i dont mean a "one child policy forever". Civilization existed for thousands of years; we have only had billions of people for a relatively short space of time... and sadly they are doomed when fossil fuels deplete
Ответитьi guess im not the only one who shares this theory, good to know im not completely crazy lol.....
ОтветитьJL's gaia is just ecology.
Ответитьfoul speech.
ОтветитьMaybe in the United States, but not in the rest of Britain's former colonies. This is the Internet, take a viagra and harden up.
ОтветитьKinda inspires a person to appreciate life all the more. Love your life & live every day for all it's worth. What a wonderful time you have found yourself to be alive! So much more critical & important than say; the pre-Columbian era or middle ages for example.
ОтветитьWe are but one species on this grand old planet. The earth will continue on & wouldn't it be incredible to be able to re-visit earth in 100, 1000, 10 000 or a million years from now to check out what's going on? Can't even imagine the evolutionary changes for all the different species of life on earth so far in the future. That's what makes it so interesting to me.
Ответитьdisregard... he has since gone back on his findings
ОтветитьWhen science observed that the Earth was not the center of the universe, the majority didn't listen. When science observed the world was not flat, the majority didn't listen. When natural selection was put into theory, no one listened until the 1950s-1960s. When global warming was brought up, the majority didn't listen. Now we are in a panick. And here comes the gaia theory and you side with the "majority" of scientists that say otherwise. When you are a scientist, you cannot rule out any possibility. There is evidence that supports the gaia theory, thats why it isn't thrown out the window as absolutely BS.
ОтветитьWE have to start protecting all of life now. World Peace now, stop abusing people and animals they are both life.
Ответить"renewables are a joke" Lovelock is a joke. Won't even consider energy conservation and the destruction due to colonial extraction of uranium which contaminates indigenous lands.
ОтветитьAnd Lovelock is still alive and kicking, healthy and sharp, nine years later. He is 99 years old. I want to be this guy - although it will be 60 years from now and according to even mainstream predictions things will not be so hot (pun intended) in 2080.
ОтветитьThe Gaia theory is not about 'doomsday'..
It's unfortunate that the host doesn't seem to really understand the science behind the theory, nor how smart & educated James Lovelock really is.
‘When we started civilization we pulled the trigger on Climate Change’.
Effective global action on Climate Change is as difficult
as Ending Global Armed Conflict. Yes?
“If there were a billion people
living on the planet, we could do whatever we please. But there are nearly
seven billion. At this scale, life as we know it today is not sustainable”. James Lovelock–
You live once and die once. What does it matter?
ОтветитьWhy do I have to watch this for Mr.Suarezs Apes class
ОтветитьAnd he's still alive, at age 100 in 2019.
ОтветитьSince 'geology' came first, it should be pronounced "gee-uh" not "guy-uh" dummies
ОтветитьNo matter how much he protests, why do I get the feeling in all of Lovelock's interviews that he really doesn't care abot the demise of 88% of the human population.
Ответить"The earth has been looking after itself" and then humans started taking too much. If we stop deforestation (90% from animal agriculture) we can reforest. We can start giving back or allowing the forests to return. Some believe based on science, we can reverse climate change. Appreciate the interview.
Ответитьand 12 years' later..
Ответитьwow... Look what's happening in Europe.
Ответитьoh canada🎉
