@electricgenius -"hijacked .." but ruling class rule because they gave masses what they want. Naturally, we must be suspicious of SOLUTIONS that enrich someone else- e.g. Carbon Tax =power in hands of politicians. BUT, the enviro problems are REAL -we must solve for *Ourselves*. ; Green agenda is hijacked by many opposing sides "ecoNazis" want relocalization(nationalists) "ecoCommunists" want centralized solutions & global land reform "ecoCapitalists" (landowners) want poor to stop breeding

IMO odds on future carrying capacity:- >6billion -low (solve nuclear fusion) 6billion - low (its all a hoax) 2-6billion - high (peak oil) <2billion - low (worst MMGW predictions) until we get fusion, we should aim for half current numbers

@smurfieboo Because life causes the flux. He provided evidence that life, from giant trees down to even the smallest microbes, produce products that are either toxic or beneficial to the environment (not the planet, its environment). This is unstable (over the very long term) and creates a fluxuating system. As for gravity, type in Einstein's 'relativity of time'.

Giants were the offspring of Gia daugters of men and URANUS (sons of heaven) This fact is described in Gen.6 of the bible Bnoth adumah(daughters of men) and the Gborrim (mighty ones) who were also angels who were imprisoned for corrupting the earth and causing the flood of NOAH.

we talk of going to mars and the moon! We will have to build habitats on our own planet for the few to survive. Could be quit nice i,m sure. The astronauts up there on the iss are drinking water that has been collected from the humidity and yes even there own waste.so as 1910 is very different than 2010, 2110 will be pods and land and water that populations live in. A honeybee may not be able to adapt in time but we can build what we need to survive, just not all 7 billion.

Did you even bother to research and really look at the whole interview? He never said global warming wasn't happening he said that some people were treating the environmental movement as a religion and that is all he said. Better research before you spout off about something you know so little about.

that is an absurd statement, would you think the destruction of civilization a humane policy? population expansion is unsustainable.

Ответить
@walter0bz
@walter0bz - 04.10.2012 18:55

the current population level is unsustainable - we only exist because of the extra energy of fossil fuels. either have the babies and they will eventually starve or die in resource-wars - or have fewer, and they get to live sustainably. What you're missin is that the existing growth is already "overshoot"

Ответить
@walter0bz
@walter0bz - 04.10.2012 23:42

note that I mean a one child policy until the population is at a sustainable level (eg 2billion). Obviously i dont mean a "one child policy forever". Civilization existed for thousands of years; we have only had billions of people for a relatively short space of time... and sadly they are doomed when fossil fuels deplete

We are but one species on this grand old planet. The earth will continue on & wouldn't it be incredible to be able to re-visit earth in 100, 1000, 10 000 or a million years from now to check out what's going on? Can't even imagine the evolutionary changes for all the different species of life on earth so far in the future. That's what makes it so interesting to me.

When science observed that the Earth was not the center of the universe, the majority didn't listen. When science observed the world was not flat, the majority didn't listen. When natural selection was put into theory, no one listened until the 1950s-1960s. When global warming was brought up, the majority didn't listen. Now we are in a panick. And here comes the gaia theory and you side with the "majority" of scientists that say otherwise. When you are a scientist, you cannot rule out any possibility. There is evidence that supports the gaia theory, thats why it isn't thrown out the window as absolutely BS.

We can start giving back or allowing the forests to return. Some believe based on science, we can reverse climate change. Appreciate the interview.
