isGroup was tasked by Historic World Palaces to design, manufacture, and install wayfinding and branding signage for the Superbloom event at the Tower of London, a World Heritage Site in London.

Historic World Palaces came to isGroup with a vision of freestanding wayfinding signage to direct visitors around The Tower of London and external areas during the event taking place to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee year of Her Majesty The Queen.

The brief was to create weighted totems based on our unique Way2GO system, as the totems couldn’t be fixed into the ground with the cobbles leading up to The Tower of London being part of the World Heritage Site.

The signage also had to be portable and easily moved around the event, something we have never done before, our technical designers produced structural calculations, CAD, and 3D designs for a prototype to be built to showcase to the client.

After consultation two freestanding Way2GO totems were created in isGroup’s onsite fabrication workshop using an aluminium frame featuring a lockable snap frame to house digitally printed vinyl.

One totem was self-weighted using masonry and the second totem was weighted using planters with flowers, which is in line with the Superbloom event.

The Totems came with a custom-built bottom with a lockable section housing concealed weights, adjustable feet and a pair of castor wheels for ease of movement. The second totem isGroup replaced the lockable compartment with internal aluminium baskets featuring painted wooden panels to use flowers to weigh the totem down.

The signs were finished off with a beautiful grey-blue powder coat to match the client's branding. The snap frame allows for changeable graphics meaning the signage can be used at future events.
