ОтветитьI'm just typing this as I'm watching so the thoughts may be all over the place...apologies ahead of time
-I'm always skeptical whenever I order online. For one clothing and the measurements on some sites aren't accurate. At times it says I'm one size when really I should be one size below. At least there's return or if not I can have it tailored as most of the time the size is too big. Easier to remove the slack than find extra fabric.
-Philippines is a melting pot and thus has lot of influence of other countries. Some of our snacks are shared as they're origin/brand is actually from abroad.
...kinda makes me wonder what food is a totally Filipino food and not adaptation/variation of another counties food.
-I'm Filipino but live abroad and have been/traveled to PH many times... so disclaimer I may not be 100% accurate on the info below but I'm pretty sure the info is correct.
-Clover is one of my fave chips. I like the original which is the cheese flavor. It's origin is PH. I could finish a whole bag in one sitting, very bad but I love them. In my defense, I rarely eat chips so like 1-2 days a month I'll eat a lot of chips then I wont really crave them for rest of month.
-Boy Bawang pronounced "boy bah-wah-ng". bawang means garlic in Tagalog (most widley spoken filipino language). Filipino specifically the Tagalog language, words are pronounced in sections unlike English were we read across the word in one go. I guess best example is the word for the main Filipino language, Tagalog. English would think of saying it "tag-along" which is a girls scout cookie that many love I know. The language though is pronounced "Tah-Gah-log". I hope that made sense....Boy bawang, good for snack just don't expect to kiss or hug anyone until after brushing your teeth cause that stuff can be pungent as garlic smells but taste so good as well as good for heart health.
-Oishi is a Japanese brand but is popular in PH from what I remember. So is Nagaraya
-Mais is pronounced "Mah-is"...it means corn
-Dried Mangoes.. Mango are one of my favorite fruits, but my true favorite mangoes are the Philippine variety. They differ as they're not as fiber as Mexican ones I see in my grocery and a lot sweeter. Not saying that Mexican mangoes are bad, just the ones my grocery imports aren't the greatest. I also like the Philippine green mangoes which compared to the yellow mango is more sour as it's not as ripe. I like it because it tastes like candy to me. I think I'm the only one who eats dried green mangoes in my family which is good as that means no one will steal my stash. Usually snacks you buy a bag or two, with dried mangoes you need to buy a bunch because 2 is not enough.
I think my mom busy minimum of 6 at a time
-Asian packaging isn't meant to be pulled apart but rather torn on the jagged edge..that's why the edges are jagged, well that and because that how the packages were sealed
-Philippines has a MAJOR sweet tooth, sometimes I think too big of one. When in comes to food in general you can't come with idea in mind. Like our famous Jolliebee Filipino spaghetti is sweet but when people hear spaghetti they assume savory so the mouth and brain are having conflicting messages.
Also some hot dogs and meats. Though we have sweet tooth not all our desserts are explosion of sugar. There are a few desserts that don't taste as sweet.
-A lof of our snacks are corn based I find...like clover is corn based not potato hence why the texture is different.
Also I think a bunch of stuff tends to be baked not fried, or I may be wrong.
-Mocha is just coffee and chocolate isn't it?...Philippine cakes, well a lot of it anyhow are more chiffon then dense..they're light and airy.
potato fries:-) hide anywhere really! reaction in boy bawang when opens but end up liking it by this young girl.hahaha! thank u mommy dNATION! ur all awesome!
ОтветитьMais pronounced as "ma-is" means corn. Boy Bawang prounounced as "ba-wang" like Mister Wang, not weng. It means, garlic. You re fun to watch eating, hahaha
ОтветитьNext time you will visit at the HMC, give me a heads up, I'll bring you some more Filipino foods to taste😆😆😆
ОтветитьMommy Drew, you have two beautiful angels!!! ❤❤❤
Mais means corn. 😊
Like 👍🏽
ОтветитьHey Famalam, good to see my boys...they got jokes...I've never tried Phillipine snacks b4 but can't be that bad as you liked most of them...they seem very sweet....which do you prefer...UK or Philippine snacks guys?🙄😊....seriously mummy Drew...you hiding the baked potato chips in your top🤦🏽♀️😁
ОтветитьI'd kill to have some Nagaraya right now 😭 you shouldve tried. Crackling, Mobby, MangJuan, Piattos, Chippy etc
ОтветитьThat was funny when you hide the dried mango hehe, that's the best there is. Our favorites are the Nagaraya and the boy bawang specially the spicy one. Btw, thank you for coming to my LS awhile ago.
Salamat Mommy Drew.
Your kids are cute!
ОтветитьI haven’t left US in about 10 years and I’m pretty sure I havent tried Mr. Mais and that brand potato fries snacks.
I love everything Ube (purple yam).
My fave snacks that I buy when I go to filipino stores here in California are choc-nut, Oishi, Ube flavored cakes, hopia and pancit canton- yes it’s a snack/merienda. Lol
New fan here from the Philippines Mommy Drew. God Bless you and your family and keep safe. =)
Ответитьmais (ma-is)=corn
ОтветитьThe proper way of eating CORNICKS, you must POUR the CORNICKS (not in pcs, but as many as you want) in your hand. To be exact in the middle. Then eat the whole grains of corn grains. So that you will get the full TASTE and FLAVOR.
Then we Filipinos. We OFTEN and USUALLY OPENED the SNACKS and JUNKFOODS by TEARING the snack wrapper, like TEARING A PAPER. And most of snacks in the Philippines has that SIGN/WORDS says, TEAR HERE.
Your kids seem to be really nice kids. We’d love to see them again on future videos. ♥️
ОтветитьHave you ever tried these snacks that we had? We loved the potatoe fries...YUM! Guess what country we will try next?
