Trying to identify the ridge you were on at the 2min mark? First I thought it might be Raspberry, but now i think maybe not.

This just goes to show how some companies are ripping us off. I don't have an endless budget like some do. When I was on the Colorado Trail and stopped in Breckenridge, where a 970 sqft home was $700,000, EVERYONE was wearing Patagonia...but I bet my Decathlon Jacket was just as warm!

I use an Ortovox Zebru swisswool insulation layer jacket. Incredibly warm, and ultra thin and light at 9.2oz/260g. Dries super fast if it gets wet and since its wool it will still keep you warm. High marks for style as well.

Great review Justin. I had heard of Decathlon, but didn't think they were in Ontario. I know they are in the West and QC but after seeing your review I did a little digging and found there is a store just north of Toronto in Vaughan that opened in the summer of 2021, so I headed there yesterday. I can't believe what a gold mine this place is for people like me who wished they could afford all the top of the line gear but if I bought it, I wouldn't have the money to get out and do the things I bought the gear for. I bought the Trek 50 yesterday for $25 CDN, the Trek 100 on sale for $25 CDN as well (1/2 off) and bought some other items. I am shocked how good the stuff looks and I dropped only $110 CDN yesterday and came away with a decent haul to try out. I am all for supporting cottage vendors and know their stuff is more money but companies like North Face, MEC, REI and Arcteryx are doing just fine without my money, so this was a terrific find you lead me to. Thanks so much and hopefully one day I'll get to see the West coast of Canada where you are (west of me in Ontario anyway) ), since it looks so beautiful. Love if you could review some more of their things. I saw part 1 and part 2 of your budget gear, but if you come across anything else you can recommend from there, I would like to hear about it.

Hi Justin - Love your videos! Great content 🥰 In this video I would have liked to see you compare the wearability, packability and breathability of the two jackets. With such a huge price difference between the two it would also be good to know how the DWR compares. I know I'm being picky - just a suggestion for future comparison-type videos 🤗

Best deal I had for a insulated jacket was the 94 Himalayan retro Parker on sale from £670pounds down to £270pounds .it's made from future light on the outside and RDS 700fill goose down.with boxwall baffles.its way too warm for UK weather but it was a bargain

My local Arc’teryx outlet regularly has the atom lt from $140-$180 CAD and at that price I think it’s definitely worth it. I also got a Nuclei FL there for $150 and it’s by far my favourite synthetic jacket

My 8 year old Atom LT hoody is still going strong. The only thing that I have to watch out for is driving for a long time while wearing it. I don't want to compress the Coreloft in the back just because I drive a lot. It's best used in fall/spring because of the breathable fleece side panels.

Our employers spent over £600 a piece for 150 Arcteryx single layer rain jackets.
This is the most mind-boggling and stupid waste of money I have seen in my entire life.
Calling average clothing "tactical" because it's black does not justify a 300% price increase. Arcteryx customers are gullible mugs.

I do not know if Atom LT worth so much money, I do not own one, but Trek 50 definitely not worth the 15€ that it costs in my country. Very low quality materials, hanging threads, the stitches are awful , the central zipper sticks, etc.

Nylon is far more rip resistent and durable also it is a far more expensive plastic to source plus that warranty is pretty impressive. So there are big differences.

Here in the UK I can see both sides of the coin. I absolutely love my arcteryx aerios gtx shoes but find the baselayers I have no better than my Salomon, Columbia, Berghaus etc alternatives at half the price. I've got a few decathlon forclaz trousers and they are great. I've had other cheaper brands that have been crap though.

Anything with a "top quality brand name" WILL ALWAYS CARRY A HUGE MARK-UP because of the name. Its called Branding and companies pay a lot of money to generate it and want to recover their costs. IT HAS NO ACTUAL BEARING ON THE RELATIVE QUALITY of the product.
EG BMW, Ferrari, Bennetti, Sunseeker, etc

Decathlon Jacket I had to give it to my husband. I got very disappointed it was to tight on my waist and stomach. This brand needs to made it as accurate size . I wear a XXL or a 3XL in men's jacket depending on the brand. For my husband it fit him great he loved it. Know I my self have to buy me a different brand no bigger size available .

Nylon will stink just as much as polyester i really don’t know where you got your info from. Also, nylon will loose all of its strength when exposed to UV light for a while, wile polyester will have a slight UV resistance naturally.
