This is awesome, thank you for showing that method!
ОтветитьIncredible! Thank you so much! Love the violin sound at the end. I will definitely experiment with this.
Ответитьyou can just type the note name and octave in and it'll immediately move the knob to that frequency, fyi
ОтветитьVery good tutorial. More in this format please! :)
ОтветитьCan we download that violin preset?
ОтветитьAt first, I thought this was nothing more than a gimmick, but now I see power of the grid. Thanks pal!
Ответить👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
ОтветитьThat violin patch is awesome. Dude, set up a patreon page...
ОтветитьFantastic tutorial! Thanks so much!
ОтветитьWe need a full tutorial for that violin! Sounds splendid
ОтветитьHi Kevin, lovely video. Can we share it?
ОтветитьBest Tut ive seen in ages ... Thanks heaps :) id love to see what you do with logic gate modules , I manages to create some very cinematic foley type sounds
ОтветитьDo you think bitwig will keep up with Ableton 10.1
ОтветитьReally unimpressesaed that the minim delay time for feedback loops is 6ms , and not 0.02 ms as the module says .
When panning 2 osc's left and right ( right into the delay set to minimum ) , the right channel is delayed by 6ms when recorded and NOT 0.02ms
So we can not have 1 unit delay feedback loops , thus no possibilty of building karplus strong with delay lines pr pahsers with all pass modules ...really really lame
I just became aware of Bitwig 3 with The Grid. What you do here seems to provide everyhting I dream of in a single environement, in which I want to use a granular sampler as the exciter, add resonator control like you explain here and then use poly aftertouch / expression to control such sounds in real time. So I am getting rather exited by now. Any plans to include more complex acousticly styled resonators?
ОтветитьHi Kevin. I've just taken the jump and joined the Dark Side Of the Force (= the non-hardware route): I've bought a reasonable powerfull new laptop and Bitwig studio 3. My first venture is a Yamaha CS80 emulation because recreating it's complex structure is always a good way to check out the polyphonic potential of a modular system. I've got a fully fledged 16 voice version running at aprox. 25 % of processor power at the moment so the signs are good. I only have to go back to lower voice counts if I try to stack voices or leave release times too long but that is probably because I do not yet understand the voice stealing routine. Anyway: Next I'll be moving ever closer to my granular + resonator modeling ideal. On the to do list is also to reconstruct your violin model. Man this is exiting stuff! I'd love see more modeling exploits from you, even if on other platforms. So please feel free to point out / share any of them. And many thanks for the inspiration so far! :-)
ОтветитьUnfortunately the karplus-strong technique only sounds good when voice mode is in "True" and that is monophonic. As soon as you add polyphony, is goes to the digital mode, and the sound seems badly truncated.
ОтветитьHi Kevin. I tried to recreate that violin and came very close. "Mine" does however not yet have that solo violin feeling a smuch. The only thing I cannot yet fathom is how you set up the external modulation routings into The Grid. The rest should be a matter of the finer settings within the Grid's window. Could you please help me out that little bit further? And did I already mention that you are a hell of a programmer?
Ответитьplease make more Grid tutorials, this was fantastic!
ОтветитьHello! I would like to use your technique as a basis for replicating Ableton Alice’s resonator in the grid. Do you know if it’s possible to implement Karplus strong without a comb filter in Bitwig?
Ответитьman this is cool
Ответитьyea thats not feedback loops ... a self resonating filter is just that ... one delay module can make the signals loop ... but its wonky , bit wig is great to only be at version 3 but its an addition to a real DAW .. not a real DAW .. the feedback loop limitations is just another reason ... , Logic , Ableton and Reason are still much better than the GRID ... the Grid is almost like Fl studios mini host modular . but geared for synth creation more ... bitwig is a great tool but NOT close to everything i need at all ...
ОтветитьThis video pretty much kept me from buying IL's Sakura when it was on sale recently >_> Seriously, though, thank you! When my OP-1 was still alive, I used the "String Engine" more than the rest. Being able to set these sorts of patches up in The Grid has sent me down a lot of rabbit holes lately. I've even managed to make some drum type sounds (bongos, congas, etc) just applying what you showed with designing an exciter :D Made a pretty convincing electric bass as well (and I play bass...).
Ответитьgreat video thanks! newest version of the grid does not follow the note pitch with this set up. do you know why?
Ответить
