Everything We Know About The New Massive Pirate MMO Atlas

Literally had to google "the pirate mmorpg game" to find this because I forgot the name. I remember the game releasing and haven't heard of it since. No other videos had it listed, wonder what happened.

Everything we know: It's a piece of shit ark reskin, disappointment.

With things like Hydras, undead and cyclops I wish there was some sort of magic system. Voodoo, nature and fortune telling themed magic looks like it would fit right in.

I was all excited until you said it was from the ARK devs...

Ok so this is the first time I come across this game and it really does sound super ambitious and potentially great but aside from all the worries expressed by other people in the comments, Im really troubled about something you present as a positive thing. It sounds like there are many mechanics in this game that try to make it a realistic experience like ship and gear fatigue, player driven economy, pet breeding and more. Very often in games, these kinds of mechanics are more of a drawback and discouraging factor than anything because some feel like chores while others feel like the game is punishing you for doing stuff. Even though there are players who enjoy things like these, I think it's pretty niche. One such mechanic is ok but It sounds like the game has A LOT of side things going which often translates to a very grindy experience. The part where you said that the economy is driven by players and players themselves build and run towns etc. (if it turns out to be true) is especially worrisome to me cause it sounds like a system ripe for exploitation. Not to mention the fact that you can loot other players' stuff... I can already see guilds of diehards and trolls pushing people away from the game. Either way it's really interesting to see how it turns out on full release.

Anyone who has played ark know not to have faith in anything to do with wildcard. They are the worst developers in the history of gaming. Ark has so much potential yet they ignore its issues and continually release broken content.

Honestly when it comes to pirates I prefer a more grounded version, no whale sized sharks or 3 headed hydra... Just like with a dinosaur game I prefer dinosaurs and not dragons or griffens

Companies have different teams for different games... Would you whine at Blizzard for making a new Diablo or Starcraft if Warcraft was in a shit place? No, bitch at the teams that are actually on it lol.

They didn't create the technology with the massive map grid setup, with different servers running different grids and no loading screens between the grids. It's old technology, and I've been surprised more mmos haven't used it. Darkfall Online did it successfully a decade ago with 10k concurrent players in one non-instanced 1,000 sq km map. Atlas supposedly will have a 45,000 sq km map for 40k players. We'll just have to see if these guys are able to do what a small group of Norwegian gamers did many years ago.

I am yet to see a game that promises this much to actually be good. I want to be wrong.

If it’s a grind for hours just lose everything in on second type loot system, I’m gonna just pass. I need a MMO that majority of my grind is compensated for

You know Wildcard is behind it, what more do you need to know? They'll fill the game with content and keep piling it on. Hoping players overlook the issues that they never seem to fix. Like Ark expect a game with serious potential let down by the teams abilities/interest in quality assurance.

If I could pick one thing to eliminate right off the rip it'd be that colorful blur when striking... Awful.

I do like the realistic amount of smoke from those powder weapons.

I have a theory that Atlas is actually being done as a taste test for where they want ARK to go to without risking the credibility and future of ARK by jumping right into it.
With how ARK Extinction ended I think they are wanting to go mmo style with massive numbers of biomes/ARKs to explore seamlessly and this is the tech they want to use and need to make sure it works.
