European Realist here. Part of the problem was mentioned in this video, for which many thanks, Prof Gerdes. .1) Why are so many Russian banks STILL connected to SWIFT. That should have been stopped right from the beginning. 2) Why are so many shadow fleet ships still plying their illegal trade? Again, should have been nipped in the bud. Europe has also dragged its feet badly. The name of the Russian bank 'Sberbank' looks a bit weird, but it's actually derived from German/Dutch 'sparen' to save (money) (related to English 'spare') so Sperbank just means 'savings bank'.

What is most interesting to me here is that the USA is also allowing Ukraine to fire long-range missiles at military targets in Russia- it's not just European states making the shift.
