I guess the one thing both North and South Korea agree on is that it's all Japan's fault that they got split.

🟥[Fact Check - History of KOREA(KOGURYEO or KORYEO or SHILLA)] After Gojoseon, there were 3 Dynasties divided on Korean peninsula: Koguryeo, Baekje, and Shilla. Koguryeo was destroyed by Shilla on the Korean Peninsula: By Shilla Dynasty's suggestion, Tang Dynasty of the central China sent reinforcements, and Koguryeo was perished by the Shilla-Tang allied forces, so then Koguryeo was absorbed by Shilla. In the end, Shilla ultimately unified the 3 Dynasties and the Korean Peninsula was ruled by the Unified Shilla. The capital of Koguryeo was Pyongyang, and afterwards, Pyongyang was the territory of the Unified Shilla.
The Unified Shilla Empire used the term "Khan" for emperor like the Mongolian’s Yuan Dynasty used the same term and the emperor of Shilla called himself "Marip-Khan" and it was an empire on equal status to Tang Dynasty of China.
Following Unified Shilla Empire, there was internal Dynasty transition and Koryeo Empire emerged, and as its name implies, Koryeo(KOREA in English) was a country that succeeded Koguryeo.
Following Balhae Dynasty in the northeast was founded by part of the Koguryeo refugees, afterwards the so-called Manchurians (former Koguryeo people) established the Qing Empire in the northeast, and the Koryeo people established the Koryeo Empire in the southeast.
The Qing Dynasty, the empire of the Manchurians invaded and destroyed the Ming Dynasty of the Han Chinese in the central China and established the Qing Dynasty on the heart of China.
Manchurians,Mongolians, and Koreans are originally the same ethnicity of the northeast(Dongyi), called the Altai-Mongolian, using the Altai-Mongolian transformed languages, which is totally different language to the Chinese language.

It would be ignorant to hate a citizen of another country that has a dictator with 100% control of the entire country.

I would dare to say that 99% of the citizens of North Korea do not have a shred of respect for their leader and would rather be anywhere else on the planet... However, the majority of them have been either brainwashed or literally scared to death to where they are afraid to voice their opinions - plus the fact that the United States played a role in splitting Korea 80 years ago is beyond me, but that's neither he or nor there

So basically this is just another story of imperialism where people who have nothing to do with the land, end up splitting it and inserting artificial governments. Honestly that’s the entire history of the west at this point. No originality.

A few more details and corrections;
Soviets had a treaty with Japan and didnt attack them... only till 2 days after the bomb on Hiroshima. While Japan refused to surrender, Soviets attacked the Manju region which was empty. By the time of Japans unconditional surrender, Soviets already pushed to Chungjin river in Korea. US had no choice but to give the ground to Soviet influence by drawing 38th paralell.

Korea was split by Soviets, not the US.

Still, it wasnt completely divided. Soviets wanted the country to decide for itself while US wanted to oversee the nation till it became stable.
Now, back in Korea, people were divided by socialism and capitalism. But all had ine goal; punish Japan imperialist sympathizers who took advantage on their own kin.... except 1 guy. Lee Syungman. He argued, we shouldnt punish J symps but to invade N.Korea to fight against Soviets, and claimed Soviets wanted to oversee the unified government (this lead Park Hyunyoung to letter Kim Ilsung to invade the S.K, which he actually did too.), while US wanted to leave Koreans alone... which was the opposite. This was farther from the truth.

However, there was another who wanted a joint government of both neutral communists and capitalists; Ryu Wunhyung. US officials talked with him and agreed with and supported him as he supported supervision of the US gov., and opposed division of Korea. In short, US did not want nor helped in division of Korea. However... after two dozen attempts on his life, with the help from... police officers under Lee's influence. ...

+) Lee Sungman and Kim Ilsung had infamous name; thought they say they participated in Korean liberation, they werent. For Kim Ilsung, it wasnt his real name. The people from his hometown did not recognize him and many had claimed he wasnt the freedom fighter who was born in his home town. He was just an imposter. As for Lee Syungman, although he when to Harvard, he was famous for embazzling money that was for funds for Korean liberation.

As for Ryu Wunhyong?
We was an athlete, devote christian, and a likable guy. He even critised the actions of Japan government in Imperial hotel, Tokyo. But he gave such a good speech, that by the end of his speech, Japanese were cheering his name even.
By the end of the pacific war, Japan viceroy in Korea when to Ryu and Ryu gave Japanese safe passage back to Japan, in exchangr for 3 month worth of food for the nation (to hold till harvest) and freedom of every political prisoners.
In short, he was so likable, even his enemies loved him... till he was shot in his car while 2 police cars(humvees) blocked the front and back.

In the US intellegence report, it describes both Ryu and Lee sungman toi btw. Ryu as a trustable man, even though he was a neutral communist, and Lee as a vile man who has features of a selfish dictator.
True to this, Lee killed many civilians through 3 martial laws and tried his 3rd term just like Kim Ilsung... but people kicked him out.
