I’m having a lot of fun with my dex/parry build. Really like the combat.
Hope they fix the obvious problems with inventory soon though…
I like the game but yeah the gear requirements are just so silly. Some weapons I’m getting require 42 intelligence. Why? Also weapons that require 42 str AND 42 dex. So silly.
ОтветитьWeird thing about weapons to me is that Tier 1 weapons that only require 11 strength can be upgraded all the way to Tier 3 but will still require 11 strength as opposed to..42. That requires resources, sure, but you can buy Copper Ingots and the weapon shards are extremely common.
ОтветитьFor anyone struggling with heals - use the health aura rune - remember to charge it and you will rarely need food again
Ответитьwhat we saying chat? do we buy it?
ОтветитьAgreed with Cowboys comments. If I could use one word to describe the current state (as of this post, 3 patches in) it would be: unbalanced. I LOVE this game and have done two play-throughs, and think that with some tweaks to systems and various minor game interactions this will be a gem.
ОтветитьYop, the economy is weird AF. I beat the first boss... he dropped a cool sword, that required 26 str... I was level 6. It feels so darn bad.
Ответитьparry fills up your focus every time so you get a free special attack which is the highest damage output possible.
the equipment levels are currently tied to story which is a bit unfortunate for people that are playing faster. so after killing the twins everything is level 21.
i actually think that the economy is perfect. at no point in the game did money ever lose value. i am always grinding. and this is actually good. finding items to sell instead of just finding 1000 of gold in a dead body doesn't seem to be a problem imo. the end result is the same. a tight but not unfair economy.
my biggest criticism rn is the super low drop rate which took me about 40 hours and almost complete the story until i actually found a polearm to play the way i wanted to play.
I struggle to see why you should be able to wield tier 3 gear if you reached end game underlevelled. You made it that far at lvl 17, then you don't need that gear, and if you want it you can farm the lvls, knowing in advance what stats to focus on.
ОтветитьI hate crafting and survival elements. I know I’m probably in the minority, but who enjoys this stuff? I mean, I already have a real job that requires plenty of mundane tasks. I dont need a second job for fun. To me this is a great ARPG ruined by banal crafting and survival mechanics that are just unfun. This is one of the biggest reasons I quit PoE, which is pretty much all about RNG crafting. Blah.
ОтветитьI feel like the game suffers from bloat. The bare bones of the game is great, but too many items without good storage leads to walking back and forth to multiple chests. Cut the food mechanic to start and just make limited estus to upgrade. (Clean up the potions and other bloat as well.)
ОтветитьI really hope the devs can take the feedback without losing sight of their goals. I really, really enjoy how the game plays right now. It needs a lot of performance and quality of life changes, but the thousands of steam reviews demanding this play more like a Diablo game is certainly not what I want. I think they've already made some aspects extremely forgiving. On day 1 if I died a few times my gear would be on the verge of breaking and the cost to repair would be about as much as I've made. Now I can die 10+ times and I make 10x what I'm spending on repairs. It's losing the hardcore souls-like feeling I think they were going for.
ОтветитьI completely disagree with the loot commentary. It's finally something different than what we typically get. It isn't white>Blue>Purple>Gold. They all have their own uses. White gear is the most customizable and honestly more times than not it's better to have a white piece of gear you customized for your build than to go with a blue or purple. It's a fantastic system for me as I like to play around and make builds and it works so well for that.
ОтветитьI am so grateful for all of the time you dedicate in bringing us great gameplay. I follow many of your play throughs and your efforts have saved many hours of otherwise being lost in a game. I’m a 72 yr old gaming Grandma. ❤❤ THANK YOU
ОтветитьVery strange! I have multiple purple loot and I only killed one boss and finished two side quests, and I'm trying to reach the church woman still
ОтветитьIn regards to loot economy and exp the crucible gives you massive amounts of all 3. My 3rd character is lvl 21 and I'm only 5 hours in on him.
With resources I'm fairly certain the contribution system is accounting for your buddies to be chipping in. That being said, I really don't see an issue with it. Now that they fixed clay drops, I upgrade a structure every time I go out. I'd be more concerned with the timer continuing to go up. If we have to wait 48 hours for a smith to go to tier 4 or 5 that could suck.
Idk if you noticed but the parry gives like 100 aura (or more if you spec for it) which is like 5 basic abilities or 1 strong one. If I use my lvl 21 mage as an example, if I parry the crucible boss the rune attack that follows does about 10% of his hp and my gear is speced to heal me about 40% on a parry too.
ОтветитьThe devs: “if we give the player a full focus charge when they parry, they’ll know enough to use it to do a focus attack while the enemy is stunned.”
The players: “Why isn’t there a finishing move after I parry?” 😆
Great review, the game at this point is okay. But it's is abit lackluster and the grind is abit slow. But for what its worth. It's a very unique game overall
ОтветитьI love the game but it does need A LOT of work. I sure hope the devs see your video!
ОтветитьYou sand off rough edges to make something better you need abrasives to polish something both literally and figuratively
ОтветитьFeel like they could do so many different things with this unique of a game. Hope they end up nailing it. Would love to see more thought put behind making deeper combat mechanics. Think the devs are super cool and will impress everyone.
ОтветитьGreat review of the major pain points. After playing Lies of P a lot, I had an expectation that a souls-like game understood how to borrow ideas from FromSoft and following in the right footsteps. The gameplay is great, but all those little mechanics are a major miss by comparison.
ОтветитьThe loot has influence from D2 which has been a great choice. One of reasons d2 has been so successful is due to the itemization. White items should be the most customizable. Man I just don’t feel like it takes that long to go farm wood 🤷♂️. Agree to disagree I suppose.
ОтветитьGood summary of areas that need improvement or changes. I hope the devs get a chance to review this and incorporate them.
Ответитьitems with high stat requirements is fine imo. Happens a lot in all souls games too. At least in this there is player housing/containers so just put the item in a container and work towards gaining the stats and its rewarding to be able to finally use it.
Ответить1000% agree with what Cowboy is saying here really hope the developers see this video and take note and do make the improvements to the game, I think there something really special here hopefully we can see the game at it full potential.
ОтветитьI cant see the economy problems. Im not farming and im loaded with resources. I find the problem with the economy is that my character trivialized the game by level 10
ОтветитьThere are actually some very good Runes in the game - enough that I would actually recommend Common / White rarity weapons just so that you can customize all 4 Rune slots.
Blink is the no. 1 skill because it’s a cheap 25 cost teleport that also completely breaks enemy tracking if cast during an attack. This opens up easy damage windows and backstabs, especially for enemies with long attacks. It is sold in the Tier 3 mage shop.
You’ll also want Ice Throw or any other variant of Throw (Ice just has the best debuff) - 50 cost boomerang that does way too much stagger, damage, and debuff app for its range and cost.
Everyone already knows about the heal Runes, but also don’t sleep on Damage Surge - 30% damage multiplier that lasts quite a while.
You can of course swap weapons for heals and buffs, but IMO having constant access to both Throw and Blink justifies skipping Enchants on your main weapon.
The game has a major identity crisis and makes me wonder why devs even release half ass broken games that can’t even run on a pc at launch let alone the steam deck. There needs to be so many fixes with this game in the future
ОтветитьSome of your mentions are quite good some are not. Every "reviewer" wants to turn allll games into the same path, loot have this universal approach, resource gathering have this approach because I got use to it so you should do it too. Why? Let games have a bit of flavor so dont make all the same.
ОтветитьGreat review Cowboy 🤠 Its definitely a game to keep a eye on, and completely agree with your review the over all loot, materials just alot little things here and there, but for a early access release pretty darn good game looking forward to the full release and updates to come. Hope for a bigger map more bosses and enemy types. And story
ОтветитьSpot on, I think the game has a huge potential still. But they need more time to think (or rethink) features of the game. Curious you didn’t touch on boss fight and mechanics which to me are not really well executed if they want to approach a real souls game.
ОтветитьI am having fun in this game. I love how the combat is made and the game atmosphere overall.
ОтветитьThe huntsman daily is in a "secret" area of the glades. You access it by climbing vines in the western part of the map, closer to where you fight the 2nd boss. I don't like this either.
ОтветитьThanks for the update!
ОтветитьGood review. I hope they listen. I see lots of potential. Will wait to purchase until I see more improvements.
ОтветитьSomeone who hasn’t played seems obvious your first criticism is extremely valid.
I am all for slogging on loot but even the time spent chopping a tree or mining takes so long for so little.
Totally agree with what you are saying cowboy. I would like to have more options for enchanting. You don’t have anyway of reversing if the enchanting busted your main weapon. Always has to have two of them so that if one get busted you at least have another to use.
ОтветитьOmfg this is like Fable with ARPG Elements 😮
ОтветитьThis is a well thought out, in depth, honest, informative video and I appreciate it. I really hope the devs somehow hear this and take heed and make adjustments.
ОтветитьThe Devs are on it, I think the game will be way better with opinions like yours. Just hope it doesn't get to watered down.
ОтветитьI've got about 7 hours in.. Absolutely love the combat, art design, gameplay. The lack of inventory space is driving me nuts
ОтветитьThe idea to increase the number of resources gained with higher teir tools is a great one. The stat requirements definitely need tuning as well. I think the rng elements for gear enchamtments and infusions and with loot drops is the most annoying part for me right now. I love the level design and combat in the game. Trying out the various weapons you meet the requirements for is really fun since literally every weapon has a unique moveset. I spent a lot of time trying out various weapons and leveling them up.
ОтветитьAwesome review
ОтветитьI've just started playing this game even though I bought it on the first day of early release. I was hoping the problems you've described would have been sorted by now but they don't appear to be. Such a pity as it seems to have so much potential.
ОтветитьQuite a few folks seem confused on why I'm being so critical. I very much enjoyed the game, but the entire point of early access is to improve. If all you're going to do is glaze it in its current state that doesn't help the devs evolve the product into a better and more polished form. The entire point of early access impressions is to point out issues the game currently has in hopes that it becomes better.
