Lol these company do know that is consumer are trained to buy expensive techs during the holiday season right? They gonna lose a lot of money launching their heavy hitters in January because that's when most people start saving if they expect they are gonna owe taxes.

What baffles me is why the base 4080 is 1200? thats not the top end card? thats always been way cheaper than the ti variant or now the super variant. the 4080 should have been 799 at launch and they should have released the super or ti variant for 999 as they did. there was no reason for the base model entry 80 card to be over a grand. thats not its purpose. its purpose is to be like the very entry point to high end. for those who have an extra 100-200$. 4080 sales were garbage for a reason.

You probably remember Jensen in an earnings call from about a year ago talking about inventory and price corrections to intentionally "manipulate" (control) the prices of their GPUs and they were issuing corrections on various models. They did that due to over abundance and to..prevent price cuts. The same thing is happening now but they are playing the "advanced corrections" game whereby they cut production prior to release.

This is a case of the "bigger fool" fallacy where they assume people won't see how patently transparent this is to deplete inventories and create artificial scarcity. They believe that people won't wait and will not see the release coming and thus keep prices high until the last second, to eke every last sale possible before taking a margin cut.

But basically the recommendation across the board has been to wait until the 50 series launches. They are overplaying their hand because they can and without any real competition, we're all in for a hellscape in terms of the 50 series pricing.

This is transparent market manipulation and Nvidia can do this with impunity. This kind of behavior hasn't happened in a while, but it's a true monopolistic practice that shows that the company needs to be split up by regulators.

Also, "Moore's Law is dead" is full of garbage and misinformation. They are the "wccftech" of YT tech channels. Barely credible news that comes from leaks of leaks and speculation. I blocked their channel in favor of Level1techs, GamersNexus, and especially HardwareUnboxed.

Nvidia does not want old and used stock to conflict with the release of the next gen GPUs that scalpers will scoop up on release day.

the 20x0 30x0 and even 40x0 Scalper fest were interfered with by old and used previous gen GPUs hitting the market taking pressure off of scalped items.

Nvidia does not, never has, and never will give a flip about gamers unless it effects their bottom line and without any serous rivals they pretty much have a monopoly on High End Graphics Cards.

I won't be buying 5000 serise. I havec4080 super. Keeping that for at leastc3 years due to price of it. Nvidia so greedily raising prices l now buy way less of their gpus.
