For me it really was the spell crafting that made it better, I got so many more playthroughs because of that (why would i ever use illusion or mysticism without it?)
ОтветитьDislikes are from people who never played Oblivion.
ОтветитьGet out of my way before I have you slapped in irons
ОтветитьI loved the Oblivion birthsigns and acrobatics skill
ОтветитьNo lies! Morrowind is the best 😃
ОтветитьI would never have played Oblivion if it weren't for Bioshock. I was looking for Bioshock and it came with a bonus game. Destiny!
ОтветитьThe elder scroll morrowind oblivion and skyrim , were the best dark fanstasy games but I do hate elder scrolls online destory the lore and to very high fantasy that why i don't consider legends and elder scroll online as part the main series.
ОтветитьEverything.
ОтветитьI've put this in other videos about the topic so i'll also put it hear to.
I just want to start off by saying that Skyrim is one of the most epic games ever made and by no means am I one of the bandwagon "cool kids" who shit on skyrim and love Oblivion for the stupid reasons such as "Oblivion had better use of colours and that's why it's the better game".
I think the saying the brightest flame burns out the quickest is a good description of Skyrim in that most people would agree that first play through of Skyrim they declared it the greatest game ever made. But unlike Oblivion with every new play through Skyrim looses something and doesn't hold up as good as the last time.
Skyrim is an epic journy but lacks the depth of Oblivion. Walking through the snow and seeing a fifty foot stone totem just to have the top end of the totem come alive which makes you realise it was a Dragon the whole time and the amazing song of the Dovakin kicks in lets you know you're in for something epic. But in Oblivion, just discovering an empty house in the middle of nowhere with a letter on the table of the previous owner explaining a dangerous journey he's about to take which you then track down his footsteps to find out what happened to him can be soo rich and satisfying and have so much depth to it.
First I want to start off with the worlds. A lot of people say that Cyrodiil is better than Skyrim. Although the vastness and diversity of landscapes of Skyrim is impressive to the point where it makes hiking in real life obsolete, and it's true that Cyrodiil is mostly just hills and trees in comparison to Skyrim, But the beauty and cerenity of Cyrodiil is timeless. Just traversing through the myazaki like hills and trees and passing by old ruins is a big part of the experience of Oblivian. Where as Skyrim gets dull and loses something with every play through. Skyrim fails to maintain the atmosphere that Oblivian achieves with Cyrodiil.
The towns in Cyrodiil have incredible charm and are good enough to make your wallpaper, where as the towns in Skyrim are merely used for missions and trades and are quite dull otherwise.
The caverns and caves are far more satisfying to traverse in Oblivion. And most of all the oblivion gates (although re-used more than once) are Soo much better that the dungeons of Skyrim. The contrast between Cyrodiil's beautiful, colourful and serene landscape to Oblivion's islands surrounded by a sea of lava and red sky is soo great that it's epic in its own right. The exploration factor in Oblivion and trying to find all the hidden pouches for loot and trying to figure out how to get to the main tower is great. Where as Skyrim's dark and and lifeless dungeons and caverns are far too linear in comparison.
As for the soundtrack for both games. if you were to listen to each sountrack by itself without having any knowledge of the games that contains them, The Skyrim sountrack may come uo on top because it truly is an epic soundtrack. But when experienced within game, the soundtrack of oblivion is far more efective. Skyrim may have a pulse raising soundtrack but Oblivion's music becomes apart of the world and compliments Cyrodiil's beautiful landscape or dungeons far better than the soundtrack of Skyrim does for its world.
When I first came across the Break of dawn mission and the shrine of Asura, I thought it was the most epic thing ever for they are truly great. But that was it. The other daedric quest aren't nearly as impressive. But the daedric quest in Oblivion are amongst the best parts of the game. Just finding the shrines which are scattered all over Cyrodiil and looking for the right items for the offerings to present to the shrine is incredibly fun. But the best part of the daedric shrines is the missions them selves. All missions are very interesting and sometimes mind twisting depending on the shrine. Also the awards from the Daedric quest are amongst the bets items in the game which makes it soo worth it.
The loot is just soo much better in Oblivion. most missions or even caves or dungeons usually pay off with great loot.
And the Shivering Isles is pretty much an epic game on its own.
Bitches complaining about how oblivion is better than skyrim
Me, an intelectual: Morrowind
One thing that oblivion did a lot better is that the shop owners didn't lose money when you sell them your loot. In skyrim they which is very annoying as you have to wait about 4 days for the shop to reopen for the owners to get some more cash.
ОтветитьOblivion Gate
ОтветитьI think they should add a KID MODE or something like that, where all the mechanics are dumbed down for people who don't understand.
ОтветитьMaxed out marksman skill + fire/frost/shock damage is so op
ОтветитьLiterally just picked up Oblivion on Steam. I played it on 360 years ago. Gotta say, not even mentioning modding capability, PC is the way to play it.
ОтветитьEvery game becomes domb donw easy simple pile of garbage.
ОтветитьMorrowind above all!
ОтветитьOblivion: you want to be a sword n board warrior? Make sure NOT to pick sword n board as your main skills as to get more xp when leveling. Totally not broken.
ОтветитьNot about 8 attributes, exactly 8 attributes and exactly 21 skills.
ОтветитьSomething skyrim lacked was enemies and loot that continued to level with you. At around level 400, enemies stop getting tough and loot stops getting better.
ОтветитьJesus Christ, why so many dislikes?
ОтветитьOnly soyboy hipsters, smooth brains and literal NPCs think Skyrim is better than Oblivion. They're the perfect sheep for big tech to control, dumb everything down and distract them with "pretty" things, they're turning them into mindless retards.
Ответить19K likes comes from Cyrodiil
17K dislikes comes from Nords
Im the Imperial one not gonna lie :v
LONG LIVE THE EMPEROR!!!!!1!!
clicked this video at random based on title. its a fucking metagoblin video lmao so this is what you did before classic eh?
ОтветитьI love all the titles, but oblivion was the best overall in nearly everyway, the modding community of oblivion is also just more lore friendly and tend to add more even more immersion then skyrims modding community which often opt for the non lore friendly anime nudity mods... Well done i couldnt agree more on all of what you said.
ОтветитьPeople say skyrim had better leveling and to that I say what leveling? You had no stats, and no real "builds". Just pick up a sword and strap a few perks boom I guess your warrior now. Fuck it pick up a bow, pick a perk, I guess I'm an archer. Freedom of choice means nothing if none of your choices dont matter and theres no impact to them. Skyrim has so little choice and so little customization its about as shallow as a puddle. You get the freedom of having a character that never feels fleshed out, never feels unique and never feels fully mid maxed.
Magic was the worst out of any elder scrolls and didn't even scale properly, master level spells deal less damage than simply duel casting expert ones, also there's a 3 second start up animation for every one. Perks were mostly bland, the whole perk tree was so bare bones and offered so little build variety. Half the perks in the base game are just "insert weapon deals more damage", "insert spell costs less" or "insert armor tanks more". Racial bonuses meant jack shit. They didnt even change your health, stam or mag even unless it was a high elf. There was literary no difference at all. Races are just skins with a daily power that doesnt scale and quickly becomes useless excluding an orc. And a passive that you can just get an enchantment for that has a higher value anyway later game and put it on an armor.
There were no classes and you could only enchant a piece of gear once and only twice with a level 100 perk, and there was no spell crafting. They gutted it from the main game. You cant even call it leveling at a certain point. That would imply customization beyond "pick a resource to increase by 10 and a perk that does the same exact thing as the tree next to it with a slight variation".
Shouting felt weak and most shouts dealt so little damage or had such a high cooldown you might aswell just use 1 word of power instead of all 3. Lesser powers were removed from skyrim aswell. Standing stones were just utility. "Carry more weight" or "level a skill faster" was about as much "customization" as you were gonna get from that whole mechanic.
Most daedric artifacts didnt scale either and could be replaced by any normally crafted gear in the game. You seriously could just buy all your materials from any shop keeper and just craft gear that was better than the daedric artifact you literally just did a quest for and spent 30 minutes to possibly several hours trying to finish an entire quest line or faction line for.
Vampire lord sucked and felt like more of a debuff than an upgrade. Werewolves were actually squishier than your base form because armor was removed when you transformed and all the totems couldn't be upgraded. So legendary you would get one shotted in werewolf form but survive that same hit in a human form.
'speech is a useless skill' - bruh lmao
ОтветитьI cant believe there are this many dislikes. He is totally right. If Skyrim had the same class creation, stats, attributes, and spells there would be no discussion. But sadly the common theme is, the newer the game, the less features.
ОтветитьOblivion is arguably the greatest rpg of all time. It is a better game then Skyrim for sure but I disagree with some stuff. Like the combat in Skyrim is was better than oblivion. Without mods, the Oblivion characters look pretty stupid lol
ОтветитьYoung goblin 😎
ОтветитьLol the Skyrim fanboys are so mad
ОтветитьYoung goblin!
ОтветитьI just feelt more like, in the world in oblivion then in skyrim. It feels more real in some way 😂 I pakyed oblivion as a kid on xbox, then i dident laky it for years and then i tried it again last year, and my god its so good!
ОтветитьI look forward to skyblivion
ОтветитьWell Its Safe To Say Bethesda Fans Cannot Take Opinions Well. I like oblivion better than skyrim but that dosent mean skyrim is a bad game or anything infact if anything its a good game i just think oblivion is better
ОтветитьEverything about Oblivion was better.
ОтветитьOblivion is also such a good game for dnd players. It just feels like dnd in the best way when I play dnd I imagine it in Oblivions simple but efficient graphics style the menus harken to sitting around a table with a paper charecter sheet and options are endless for how you can progress and explore
ОтветитьI think oblivion is better than Skyrim and I thought no one agreed with me
ОтветитьI realize this video is over 7 years old, and no one will probably ever read this comment, but, I agree with the author of this video. I will admit that getting to really understand Wrye Bash to mod the game the way I wanted took a bit of time. Well worth the effort though. I really hope, if Skyblivion is released in my lifetime that it contains all the detail and charm of the original game.
ОтветитьI agree Oblivion is way better.
ОтветитьOn the beginning and at the end you said it that Oblivion is best RPG and you assume that noone ever will be able to create better RPG. Can you explain why in your thinking is that possibility?
ОтветитьI mirror most of those statements but have only two complaints.
1: Vanilla, Tes 4 blows 5 out of the water. Modded, 5 sadly has the upper hand. But at least Skyblivion is looking promising.
2: The Witcher Vs Tes? I mean, Witcher is centered on an established character with depth to his character. While Tes is centered on essentially a murder hobo that fits with the mis mashed story. Especially in 5.
The Guards in Oblivion. Period.
ОтветитьAbsolutely in love with Oblivion. Whenever someone says that Skyrim is far superior, it's almost a given how that person never finished Oblivion. So much "freedom" in Skyrim when the character types you're limited to are essentially a) warrior b) mage c) spellsword with weapon in main hand and spell in the other d) stealth archer assassin.
Also the most common gripe is probably "Oblivion NPC's are ugly". Bro, implying all the Elves north of the Jerall mountains don't look like meth fiends? Skooma's a hell of a drug.
Anyone got a mod list of what was used in the video?
Ответитьyes papi
ОтветитьI agree with Oblivion having a better art style. The lighting of Oblivion's color saturated environments is its greatest aesthetic feature. A western sunset viewed from Peryite's shrine or the Colovian foliage are prime examples of the game's visual potential. I sometimes find the textures used for NPC character models akind to impressionist oil works such as Van Gogh.
