Take an art tour through Russia. In St. Petersburg, see The Russian Museum (Russky Muzei). This museum should be on every visitor's itinerary, even those who know or care little about Russian art. Nineteenth century highlights include: Karl Brullov's The Last Day of Pompeii, Ivanov's Christ's Appearance to St Mary Magdalene, and Repin's Barge Haulers on the Volga. The Twentieth Century includes works Valentin Serov, Philipp Malyavin, Mikhail Nesterov, Konstantin Korovin, and Black Circle by Kazimir Malevich.

Moving onto Moscow, and The Tretyakov Gallery, where you can see Icon painting to the works of Andrei Rublev. Also see works by Serov, Levitaan, and Repin. The latter is represented by his two famous paintings: Krestny Khod (Religious Procession) in Kursk Gubernia and Ivan the Terrible and his Son Ivan on November 16, 1581. Modern art includes well known artists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Mark Chagall, Kazimir Kandinsky(the painter of the "Black Square").

Also see the wealth of art in The Hermitage and Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts (Muzei Izobratitelnykh Isskustv imeni Pushkina) in Moscow.
