One thing I've noticed while reading the Wall Street Journal or an investing book is the nature of numbers and mathematics when looking at investments. I've also learned about some strange math and psychology when it comes to investing. In short, the up and down percentages we observe on the stock ticker can be deceptive in many ways. A 20% increase one day won't make up for a 20% decrease on the previous day. That's STRANGE! 20% up and then 20% down doesn't get you back to where you started. If you are investing or are an investor, this is very important math you need to know. Luckily it's somewhat simple math, but recognizing how it works is very important when it comes to making a purchasing decision. This information can also be potentially lucrative. You need to know this if you are investing in stocks, and is the math of stock investing.

Additionally, there is some strange psychology when it comes to investing as well. Investment platforms like Fidelity, T. Roe Price, and Van Guard use a variety of color schemes when conveying stock information that can lead you to think you're doing well...when you actually might not be. This video contains some strange math and psychology that every investor must know, and should be taught in investing 101. You may also use these same ideas when looking at your own personal finance as well.
