Podmic is better than SM7B for podcast. .... SM7B is better for Music, voiceover (film), .... I own both (4 podmics and 2 sm7b) and I use them according to the production I'm making.
Ответитьthe sm7b sounds alot fuller....but can you adjust the podmics equalizer to get it to sound fuller?
ОтветитьYou can hurt a person with this microphone… Hopefully you will never need too…😂🤣
ОтветитьYep SM7b Sounds a lot fuller, I think if your just doing simple beginner podcasting the podmic is fine but if your doing VO or Pro Singing the SM7b is definitely the one
Ответитьthe sm7b had a ring to it this video. Unless that's my IEMs
ОтветитьI legitamtely prefer the sound of the podmic. I find the SM7B so damn bassy it's almost too full of a sound.
ОтветитьI’m a podmic owner and while I think it’s a great beginner/ low end mic to start… it’s not comparable to high end. It specifically pulls forward nasal tones. It is bright and thin and noticeable when monitoring and I’ve found weird to EQ - one of the only mics I have that I end up pulling the high ends down.
Again, great mic to start but if you’re looking for a mic that will hold up over the test of time I wouldn’t purchase it.
If you buy the rode xlr, you need an audio card. If bought used, how tonger access to the big software eq etc often given with the audiocard please
ОтветитьI couldn’t decide on which to buy. So I bought both 🤘🏽
ОтветитьThe SM7B is tiring to listen to. It has too much bass.
ОтветитьExcellent review ! You have great presentation style too ! Thank you !
Ответитьi would like to hear the difference WHITOUT the RODE CASTER... Becasue my expoerience is that the RODE PODCAST MIC is verry low level... i expect the RODECASTER boost the mic. So with different recording... the RODE POD MIC will be no good
ОтветитьTo my ears, the Shure is a better rounded, more realistic sounding (full frequency) mic. The Rode sounds boosted in mids with less dynamics and more of a proximity drop-off (perhaps better noise cancelation, but more canned sound). Very intelligible, though, and without a back to back, I might well prefer the Rode.
ОтветитьThe Shure just has more bass.. that's it.
ОтветитьThe PodMic sounds AMAZING!
ОтветитьUsing headphones, nothing beats the Shure SM7B. A true wonder.
ОтветитьYes I hear the difference, but not enough of a difference for me to double down on the dough. Rode mic, well played.
ОтветитьSM7B tears this thing apart.
Although the Podmic holds it's weight for the price.
IMO drop the extra $300 if you're a paid podcaster or artist.
Hobbyists can get away with the Podmic
pod mic sounds like dog water compared to the shure lol not even close
Ответитьhonestly in my ears I thot that the rode sounded better
ОтветитьWhy is it that traditional radio broadcasting mics all of a sudden didn't count when podcast came around? It's like someone decided to invent a different marketplace and utilize that to sell new products. Why is it I always hear about Røde and Shure in terms of podcast but never in dedicated radio studios? One would think the difference shouldn't exist, a voice is a voice. And speaking of voice, that's the third mic market, namely voice over work. They have their own shrine of products and it's not either podcast mics or radio mics. The mic industry is hard to get a grip on 🎤
ОтветитьNot even close. lol SM7B sounds like Heaven and the podmic sounds like Newark
Ответитьhow i understund - Microphone SM7B is the best ye ?
ОтветитьOne thing I noticed in your presentation that could have affected the results is that you had the two microphones at different heights. The Shure you kept at your more natural sitting height so you didn't have to change your position to speak into it. With the Rode, you had it lower and had to actively crunch your body down to speak into it and as a result you kept moving your point of speaking which dramatically affected the sound. Not to mention what that might have done to your ability to speak at consistent volumes. When you spoke clearly into the Rode, it sounded very close to the Shure, but when you moved the volume levels changed a lot. Just an observation, but thanks for making this comparison!
ОтветитьWhy are there no switches on the back of the Sm7b? That's odd. There should be several switches on the back to shape the response...?
Also, it's a little unfair to use the podcaster EQ settings. One could enhance a SM58 and make it sound very close
The podmic is far brighter
ОтветитьSM7B sounds so much more smooth... Wow that was actually a pretty big difference, did not expect that.
ОтветитьIn my ear, they are incomparable. Im confused about the review.
ОтветитьYou could always adjust the frequency and make it sound even better than the shure
ОтветитьThe SM7B has less higher frequency response while the rode podmic has a higher frequency range
ОтветитьI'm hearing a high pitched static/ringing when ever he talks into the sm7b. I don't hear it a all with the podmic. The noise coming from the sm7b kind of hurts my ears a little Idk if its because he has it boosted more or something else.
Ответитьspoiler alert: it does not compete with the sm7b xD
ОтветитьShould have not applied any processing for this entire video.
ОтветитьDoes anyone know if you can use the rode mic with an iPhone? Planning to order today
ОтветитьHey Tom!! Which mic stands are the one you’re using? Thanks!
Ответитьshures alittle more flat while the pod mic has more p's and clear while also sounding professional but not having hate on sm7b, sm7b sounds well like an sm7b (both are very good quality tho)
ОтветитьCan i use the podmic for recording singing vocals?
Ответитьlove it 1/4 of price
ОтветитьMy local Target store had the Podmic and the NT USB Mini on sale... each for $50. I picked up a few. I have slight buyer's remorse because i don't NEED them at this time, but it's always nice to build the gear arsenal.
ОтветитьThe Shure SM7B is better than the Rode PodMic, however it is NOT 4x better. The PodMic is a much much better bang for the buck. Not up for debate.
ОтветитьThe Rode PodMic sounded a little flatter and thin compare to the SM7B. The SM7B has a soothing effect to the ear which makes it very listenable . But I’m sure if you played with the EQ setting for the PodMic you might be able to boost the low end so it doesn’t sound so flat and possibly emulate the SM7B
Very little difference in what I hear. Sounds good. I use a Sennheiser 421 for production work. I'd love to try a Rode. Nice job.
ОтветитьI have a rode podmic but not the rode caster, but I’d like to try to reproduce the EQ settings on my editing software
ОтветитьPodMic sounds incredible, how important is it to use with the rodecaster pro to eq the audio?
ОтветитьCan you do the same for the new PodMic USB? "PodMic USB vs. Shure SM7B"
ОтветитьI prefer the podmic based on the sound in this video. Using my studio monitors the sm7b sounds too muddy with low-mids. Podmic sounds clear and punchy.
ОтветитьWatching this video on my TV with built in speakers the Rode sounds better 😮
ОтветитьIm very confused when it comes to setting up for podcasting. I am looking at the Rode podast mic, NT1 and the At2040/At2020.
I want a Mic that can connect straight to my Sony Zv1 camera for podcasting. I understand you need a USB mic for this.
If I need too, how do I use a Audio Interface/phantom power when the only equipment I have is the Sony Zv1 and a Mic. Do audio interfaces only connect to the computer or can I connect it straight to the camera? Cheers.
