Exceptional posting. Clear engaging. Gracias. Greetings and respect to all from Durango Mexico 🇲🇽
ОтветитьAussie pivot pegs- best upgrade. Best pegs by some margin. Great interview.
ОтветитьGreat interview, Mich appreciated
ОтветитьReally enjoyed that. The world needs more blokes like Aaron.
ОтветитьI like this simplicity, you do not need a big GS for do touring. Great interview, thanks!
ОтветитьArron is the man hey ! Super nice guy ! Nice interview well done
ОтветитьWhat an impressive trip. Thanks for the tips about the BDR, I need some trips to take int he states.
Ответитьlike seriously, how did he manage about maintenance with 500exc?? 140.000km is a lot!!
ОтветитьCome to Africa snowflake ;)
ОтветитьTons of rebuilds im sure. These bikes are maintenance hogs.
ОтветитьHow is it with registration or your bike when you travel through all these countries? Any issues with going through places like say... the USA?
ОтветитьGreat interview, really insightful questions. thank you!
ОтветитьArgh, the Seat Complaint! When will older interviewers get creative and stop wasting time on dirt bike seat complaints? If you dont have your core strength and good posture - every seat will bother you, including your office desk seat, after hours in it.
ОтветитьIm late to the party. Great interview, amazing how much drive, passion and commitment a trip like this takes.👍🍻🇦🇺
ОтветитьHey Dave, all the good questions were there but - unless I missed this part twice while (re)wathing the interview - what was the service on the 500EXC? I imagine every 500/1000km changind the oil, filters, valve adjusting, etc, how did Aaron manage that part? The big EXC is perhaps the best candidate for the unicorn, just a bigger tank, stronger subframe and bigger service intervals and voila! So it would have been nice to hear how was Aaron coping with one of the most disapointing shortage of this bike = service intervals. Cheers
ОтветитьAwesome, mans a kiwi!! me too.
ОтветитьTET is now about 52k i think at last count 🙂 brilliant resource for anyone
Ответитьunreal story by the way
ОтветитьThat's a long way on a dirtbike!
ОтветитьGreat interview. He seemed to fly/ferry from Mongolia to Western Australia. Any reason he didn't bike it in China & SE Asia. I think he said he'd been to Laos, so maybe he'd done a lot of SE Asia before??
ОтветитьLoved the interview Dave and really helpful for planning on my rtw tour
ОтветитьDave if you want to ride the northern california Sierra gold rush foothills from Tahoe to Yosemite, let me know
ОтветитьWow!! Love the bike choice!!! Love this Podcast!!
ОтветитьGreat interview. Thanks for posting. Very inspirational.
ОтветитьDear David Thank you for such a great vid. In 2019 I rode a BMW GS 650 from Sydney to London to raise funds for Beyond Blue and the Black Dog Institute. I had never ridden a motorcycle on the road before no bike no license and frankly no clue.
I am now embarking on a tour of the America’s commencing in April 2023. My ride is a KTM 790 Adventure R (2019). My plan is to travel North from LA to Alaska and then following the East Coast of the US to Mexico and travel South to Chile. As you have experienced the pre planning for such a ride is critical. I would appreciate, if you choose, to discuss my journey and most importantly learn from your experiences
Best
Ian Yates
The BDR started out west, they have blazed some trails in the eastern United States now. I hope to do a few of them in the next few years.
ОтветитьGents … I have a CRF450XR … I’m curious about your rally Pegs . Do you have a link for them ?
Ответить2,016 gets oils changed about 2,400 miles 😁🤣
ОтветитьAwesome video! Really enjoyed the discussion.
ОтветитьI’m allergic to Merino ! Used to get SERIOUS lower leg itch, like for days after riding, turns out it was my Sealskinz !
ОтветитьReally enjoyed the interview with Aaron, crazy amount of kilos! I created a poster of the most iconic off-road KTMs of the last 50 years (1973-2023), and the KTM500EXC-F was one of the 12 pencil sketches that i did for the poster. In the inscription below the 500EXC-F i made reference to Aaron and his round the world trip
ОтветитьDid he use the same bike for hole trip and not rebuild it?
ОтветитьThe thing about clothes is that you can buy them as you go. I would only bring one pair of pants, 2 underwear and two socks. You can buy that shit anywhere in the world and even if you couldn't you can do without socks and underwear. You need tools, rain gear, tent, sleeping bag and stove. You can't buy that shit just anywhere.
ОтветитьGreat interview, such an easygoing guy.
See how you suck us into going back into these older videos when I'm watching the Husqvarna 501 videos. lol
Giant Loop, I have multiple sets of GL luggage. I have several other brands of luggage as well, which I've never used. The GL luggage is so easy to put on & off the bike, pack & unpack that I just can't get motivated to use the other stuff. I met Harold at the Giant Loop Rally last year, and his staff and they are all down to earth people that are passionate about the lightweight motorcycle adventures. I'd go to this year's rally but I need to head across country the other direction.
Dave, if you come over to the States to ride you should let us know. All of us pensioners will ride out with you, and the beers are on us. Clubby, Nugget, and Kyle would be super welcome as well.
GREAT Interview - We need more riders like this!
ОтветитьSo he put 60k miles on it before the rebuild? That's reassuring, just hit 2k on my 2015.
ОтветитьIt's a shame that the plandemic stole years from your lives...
Ответитьthe original Dirt Baggers (dirt bike and camping)
ОтветитьIncredible man. Very cool life experience, thanks for sharing. I just picked up a 24’ ktm 500 and I’m looking to do a British Columbia trip and a USA tour
ОтветитьTerrible that such an adventure came to an abrupt end where the bike was stolen in Northern Australia. Disgusting he had to go through that.
ОтветитьReally great interview!! Maybe because my English is not the best and I missed it. Did he do the whole ride with one engine? Normally the engine oil needs to be changed every 15 hours. How often has he changed the oil?
ОтветитьSalut ,y’a n’arefait le moteur qu’a 100000km? Rien avant pas même le piston tout les 10000km?
ОтветитьCrazy he had been through all those ‘dangerous’ countries and his bike gets stolen in OZ!
ОтветитьHow many kilometers was befote piston rebuilding?
ОтветитьGoes all the way around the world, through some very questionable countries, interacts with some interesting cultures - some with bad stereotypes. Then comes to Australia, home to supposedly the oldest continuous culture, who flog his bike like the mutts they are.
ОтветитьFantastic interview, how do you get into vehicle licensing and country to country import rules etc? I’ve looked at taking a car from Aus to Nz and the custom wait times are unreal as well as price
Ответитьwow
Ответитьthe dude has consumed 2 tankers of oil
Ответить
