What is your favorite film stock?
ОтветитьI love this list and breakdown. Have you ever used ILFORD HP45 B&W 100....
ОтветитьYou sair expensive imagine in my country 🤣🤣🤣 i saw Kodak pro image $17 and here is R$120
ОтветитьGood video, man. Thanks.
ОтветитьHeyyyy fellow color blind photographer 😆 im always iffy about editing my photos because if it looks "normal" to me im sure its wrong 😂😂
Ответить2024 and I just picked up my first film camera (Olympus OM-2N) for a steal and this video was very informative to which film I should start practicing in. Thank you!
ОтветитьGreat Video !! I'm dipping my toes back into Film. This is a good start. I'll have to visit Brooklyn and test these out !
ОтветитьI regret not getting the Lomography 800 and Metropolis... I usually hate Lomo, but based on results those two films might be worth trying.
ОтветитьI now want to dust off my old Canon EOS50 and use stock for a bit☺ Iwas thinking of cheating and using the digital to get the settings until my brain starts remembering 😅
ОтветитьWhich of these film choices gives the most vintage early 90s feel
ОтветитьIm a slide film lover. Something great about slides projected or on a good light table
ОтветитьWhat lab do you use in the Bay? I just picked up a used film camera and have been shooting around town for fun.
ОтветитьYikes 😳 lomo 800 is $48 now !
ОтветитьKodac was kodac Eastman.
I'm wondering if this is that eastman.
Thank you for this! Love your dialogue! I’m a beginner at shooting film. I shoot with a d700 and I just picked up a never used F3. Your vid gives me a good idea where to start:) cheers!
ОтветитьSuper cool vid 🎉 Thanks
ОтветитьI mainly shoot black and white, so my film of choice is Kodak 400TX.
ОтветитьPortra is getting so much love because it looks very "vintage". It looks like analog film and not like your iphone or digital camera. But to be honest I'm kinda getting tired of that look. It's fine. I have some in my camera right now and after watching this video, I kinda regret buying it. LOL.
ОтветитьThat Lomography has the special vintage look, so beautiful.
ОтветитьCinestill 800T !!
ОтветитьThat's 1 million dollars he has in his hand there.
ОтветитьHaving grown up with analogic cameras and turning into a bnw lover, I totally agree with you that it's completely different taking pictures with digital cameras and converting raw pics into bnw. The attitude when taking a bnw photograph is unique. For this reason, I've returned to my old Nikon analogic camera. And even if you have to wait for the results, I'm feeling so good with this "nostalgic" way of capture images.
ОтветитьTry Kodak Gold 200 at ISO-100. I did some compares to the ProImage last year and find you can buy 6 rolls Gold for the price of 5 rolls of ProImage. Otherwise, the results are virtually identical. But, I much prefer Ektar over either, except the higher cost.
Ответить5+ years of experience? Why not 40? 😁
Anyway, IF I shoot colour negative film these days, it's Kodak Ektar, period. That film stock is however not my number one ever, that prise goes to Fuji Superia 100, which also had very tiny grain, great all do a little bit cooler colours, and it was CHEAP.
However, sadly, it's discontinued years ago. We could say classic Fuji, damn...
And for black & white film stock I'm really struggling to give my No.1 pick, but it boils down to one word, Ilford...
I’ve actually never tried any other film stock besides Portra (only bc I’m new to film photography and it was what everybody recommended), but this video was super helpful in which other film stock I want to expand too! Will definitely want to try out the bw one and the Kodak Gold! I’m interested why you didn’t list out Fujifilm Superia or 400h though 🙃
ОтветитьThank you Chris, very helpful video 👏🏼
ОтветитьFuji c 200 :'(
ОтветитьPeople who say well why don’t you convert your color negative to a black and white digital image have never set foot in a darkroom.
ОтветитьDefinitely agree the warm "Kodak look" seems a bit unnatural in overcast conditions and shade but looks great in direct sun, backlit by sun, or even situations where the subject is in the shade but things in the background are direct lit by sun. If I see clouds in the forecast it's time to load up Fuji :)
ОтветитьThanks for the video! I recently just got into film photography and this is so helpful! I saw film comparisons and the first one that I really love is Ektar 100, quite surprised not a lot of people are into it?! The results are so lovely!
ОтветитьMy top 5 :)
1. Lomography 800
2. Lomography 400
3. Cinestill 50d
4. Tri-X 400
5. Portra 800
Fuji Pro 400H 120, Fuji Industrial 100 35, Portra 160 35/120 😌 The Holy Trinity 😌
ОтветитьI love portra 160 but never got such saturated pics. Did you tweak your scans in Lr ?
ОтветитьTry out JCH Streepan 400 for black and white bro it’s so nice and hella contrasty
Ответитьgood list. only thing i would add is Cinestill 800T.
ОтветитьYou a little late her dude.
This was the 80's and 90's.
CineStill 800T and BwXX.
ОтветитьCineStill 800T and BwXX.
ОтветитьChou, I have a question.
Where to find those 35mm film cemera, I need them 😭😩
I love ektar 100 (i like overexposing a little around golden hour) and portra 160. Gonna try out that black and white film and maybe even shoot kodak gold more :P
ОтветитьI’ve used Eastman XX before and loved it, plus I’ve used some 250D which was leftover from one of the Star Wars films and sold off and spooled up for 35mm use.
ОтветитьI appreciate how you use your own words and analogies rather than regurgitate the same technical notes that other reviews often contain. Makes it more accessible. Great video! I’m also a fan of Gold 200, and Fuji Superia 400
ОтветитьYeah Lomo 800 is sublime but disappointingly overpriced
ОтветитьEastman is kodak
ОтветитьTotally agree with shooting black and white film, your approach is much different and you are almost in another realm when it comes to composing. I've printed color film in black and white in my darkroom and never cared for the results. This is a discussion that I have with my students frequently about when to shoot in black and white and when to use color. You have a great eye for color, and I really like that you are showing us examples of your work.
ОтветитьFirst I like, then I watch. Never regret.
ОтветитьEktar is my shit
ОтветитьLove this video! I’m about to buy Lomo 800 cause everything I’ve seen from that film stock is so good. Do you over expose or do you know if it can handle over exposure? Recently I shot portra 800 and shot it at 400 and loved the results. I’m wondering if it can handle it the same way. Thanks!
ОтветитьYeah…..I’m a portra boiiiii but not gonna lie that Fuji pro 400h you gave me blew my mind
ОтветитьThis man using the basketball analogy reminded me of loki😭🤣
Awesome video brother!
