I've got the 4-legged grinder stand but I like your solution to the deficiencies in the original design of that one.

So if you had thought of the concrete in the first placed you would have been able to tighten all the screws down without the wielding and the tapping?

Wait you have a welder and you bought a harbor freight pedestal grinder stand why? Take a couple pieces of angle an old rim and tire the only thing you need is a piece of pipe you could even use exhaust pipe if you really wanted. Put it through the hole if ya get an old Ford four-wheel-drive front wheel or whatever weld the pipe to the rim a piece of flat steel for the grinder to sit on. You’re done you probably have that shit in the background that I’m looking at could even use a doughnut and use a rim n tire but either way. Just seems like more work doing it the way you did it. Plus the concrete is going to rot the steel from the inside because the steals garbage. But to each their own just my two thoughts

Would it have been good to do a little bit of clean up grinding on the base of the pole, where it meets the support bottom, set the 3 leveling screws, run a weld bead around the pole for a permanent hold, then just paint it black to cover the weld ? What do you think ?

Just bought one and tried to assemble. I had the same issues. I was just going to return it, but I think that I will just buy a bag of concrete. Thanks.

I love the concrete idea! Great idea to add some weight. These cheaper ones aren't heavy like they need to be but the price is right.

Weld the thing together then fill with concrete mixed with lead wheel weights to add more weight

Since you have the welder, why not just weld the pipe to the base, and to the top, and to the shelf?

Would have been a good idea to stick some rebar down the middle after pouring the concrete
