The song actually made me kinda sad first listening to it. A lot of it is about self-destruction, and as a dude who encountered a girl that was kinda going through that when I wanted to date her, it reminded me about her and I empathized. Girls please don’t destroy yourselves over a stupid guy, same thing vice-versa. You never know who you might encounter next and they may be the best person to be with.

“How sad are you?” …I mean to be fair I think the casual listener could be forgiven for thinking the song was about blaming Brett 😅

She’s amazing

Song is very catchy but also kinda lame that she has sent loads of 14 year old girls his way giving him hateful abusive messages. Surely it should have been obvious if you name him that's what would happen. Children are literal thinkers thet arent gonna get the nuance.

This just goes to show people dont listen to the lyrics, brett did something but she's actively hurting someone else, hurt people hurt people.

It’s crazy how unaware/ misunderstanding people can be of things which they genuinely feel related to. I saw so many people holding that sign and was shocked because I understood on my first listen that she wasn’t actually condoning the behavior she was singing about or the reason she presents for acting that way

How did anybody figure Brett for the bad guy? She's horrible because of him but it isn't her fault, but it is. She's using an excuse to be horrible and doesn't want blame for it.

This song initially stuck out to me because of how sad it was. The first few times I heard it on the radio, I was in the shower, so I couldn’t understand the words, but the sadness of the melody and the plaintiveness in her voice literally had me out of the shower and pulling up shazam on my phone.

It’s such a beautiful song.
