A good story with such a dark ending.
ОтветитьWe finally see the episode preceding Time-Flight
ОтветитьWhy are there subtitles you can't turn off?
ОтветитьWho would win in a fight: Dr Who or Jar Jar Binks?
Ответить⭐ 🫡
ОтветитьWhat is up with these subtitles? Subtitles cannot be switched off, but they're also incomplete. If anyone says more than 5 words, the end of the sentence is cut-off making the subtitles near worthless. Can we get a new upload without wonky subtitles?
But Earthshock is fabulous!
Although Alvarez’s theory about an asteroid crashing into the Earth 65 million years ago causing a mass extinction is fairly well known in 2025, in 1982, it was a new and controversial idea (first published in 1980). I tip my hat to the writer for providing a cutting edge paleontology hypothesis in this script with a clever twist.
Ответить"Doctor, I let you go." - Dr. Who Fans, 2017
ОтветитьAnyone who believes that Adric is the worse thing ever to happen to Doctor Who has not been keeping up with Doctor Who recent events.
ОтветитьBack when the who shop in London was still a pokey little oddity before the rebirth in 2005. I went with my dad to spend my saved up pocket money on anything Dr who related. Two vhs were purchased on that first trip, earthshock and the greatest show in the galaxy! That full first foray into the 5th doctors life was shocking to say the least.
ОтветитьAdric is such a tragic companion. Despite his weird personality change in Four to Doomsday, I don't think he's a bad character, and I actually kinda like him. But my point is that he's an awkward kid who keeps trying to help, but it almost NEVER works out. State of Decay, Kinda, hell even Four to Doomsday he was tricked into thinking he was helping. His attempts to help often go disastrously wrong that you're almost screaming, "Adric, stop helping! You're going to get yourself killed!" And then...
ОтветитьThe quarry in the opening scene shows up in a few Dr Who stories
ОтветитьDuh, you can still go back and get him. They have all the time in the universe.
ОтветитьBrilliantly conceived and executed. Thank you, Eric Saward and JNT. You gave me a future.
ОтветитьBest Cyberman design/Cyberleader EVER.
ОтветитьThank you for putting this one up. Absolute Classic of Peter Davison Era.
ОтветитьRIP Adric
ОтветитьThank you!
Castrovalva pls,
with a Logopolis leadup?
RIP Adric you shall be missed very very.😢😭😭😭
ОтветитьA treat, and a poignant conclusion of a rocky ride. RIP Afric. The very meaning of glory.
Ответитьwhat's with the subtitles that are only partially complete?
and the volume could be a bit higher...
I guess I expect too much from the BBC
Where did all the soldiers go when they got into the tardis 😂😂
Ответить"(The Doctor) must suffer for our past defeats."
Instead of deleting him to ensure no more future defeats. 🫣
One of my all time favs of the classic era!
ОтветитьHmmm, so I noticed this was uploaded with subtitles turned on?
ОтветитьThe music, the sound effect, the settings were all so chilling and atmospheric in this episode. Definitely seared into my memory!
ОтветитьKinda disappointed. I was hoping this would be the remastered version! Not only does the laser fire look better, but it actually shows the ship barreling towards/hitting the Earth instead of just sitting there in space. Too bad, what a shame
ОтветитьI remember first watching this in the late 80s...there was some internet back then, but it would be years before I was on it, so I didn't know anything about how this was going to end. That silence at the ending still gets to me, something I'd love to see NuWho replicate, if it can...
ОтветитьGreat scene with Adric at the beginning. I often thought of the Fourth Doctor trying to create a surrogate family, with Romana as his wife, and Adric as their son, and even a family (tin) dog! But then the wife left and took the dog with her, and all the life really went out of him with them; the boy was the only lifeline he had, but then he changed into a younger Doctor, and suddenly their dynamic didn't work anymore, esp with the girls along. Adric's concerns here are valid, and it was really only a matter of time till he left them...although none of them would have wanted it to be like this, of course.
ОтветитьThis is my Doctor 👍🏻 Strange thing though, when Lt.Scott left the TARDIS with a few of his men,I thought one was a woman then she seemed to disappear.
ОтветитьThat outfit just screams lgbt++, but Davison played the part straight, with a certain maturity, with a certain maturity and realism, no hamming it up. No wonder he was booted after 3 years.
ОтветитьI really like that they have subtitles built in. Sometimes the auto subtitle feature doesn't quite translate it correctly
ОтветитьYes, Cyberleader. I'm just here to say that.
ОтветитьThe caves of androzani is also a great Peter Davidson episode and that was his last in tenure as the 5th Doctor
ОтветитьGreat story! I do hope these crappy subtitles arent going to be a regular thing from now on!
ОтветитьThank you for this. It's an outstanding story and definitely one of 5th Doctors very best.
ОтветитьTonight on a very special Doctor Who.
ОтветитьPretty good one
ОтветитьI feel like the biggest missed opportunity in this episode was for the Doctor to mistakenly call lieutenant Scott "Brigadier". Seriously, if him being a dogmatic, no nonsense type soldier isn't enough, he's also got the same moustache! Plenty of opportunities to mistake him for the Brigadier
ОтветитьBoy I am good, not having seen this before, I recognized who was controlling those androids as soon as I saw them!!! THE CYBERMEN!! I would make a good Doctor!!! GaryBailey The ending was powerful with Adric having died and no music during the end credits!!! GaryBailey
ОтветитьRIP Baked-In Credits
They’re chilling out with Adric now…
This is an excellent episode! The cyber-leader has been better.
ОтветитьThe second on screen death of a companion since Katarina's death in The Daleks Master Plan
ОтветитьThank you for uploading a peak episode, Earthshock was one of my first Classic Who episodes and it’s still a fantastic episode.
ОтветитьThe Cyber Leader from this era (or more accurately this episode) is probably my favorite individual Cyberman ever. Maybe it’s nostalgia but how it talks and the tone is so distinct versus most other Cybermen. Point is, it’s so cool
ОтветитьSo many things that happened in the known & unknown Universe and on earth and only theorized, argued about, etc. Have thankfully been known to the Doctor and his Companions, The TimeLords, etc and very kind of the BBC Types, to produce, present and finally preserve and search for These HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS.
